Another way you can attach the covers is with Tyvek tape. Its not really pretty but it is excellent for holding things together. I use it when the cloth strips cover up too much. Im talking about to use covering the crack between the front and back page and the inner cover.
Yes, there are so many ways! This is just one method!
So cool watching you repair the journal. Learned a lot. Thanks for your content.
Glad this helped!
Hi Kelly … like your childhood journal. Nice that you made adjustments ❤
Thank you!
I love your journal Kelly! It’s awesome 😊
Thank you!
Hi! I live in North Fl. I am trying to find a Junk Journal retreat source in the Southeast. I thought you might know.😊Thanks!
You can check out Elaine Larkin (Alabama) and apparently someone is hosting some in Virginia now. Perhaps I will try to get down to that area in the next year as well
@@rootpursuit Thanks I'll be on the lookout. I do go to a craft retreat here but largely card making/scrapbooking with a StampIn Up rep.
I am thrilled you went into detail on how to fix your journals. I made my very 1st Christmas Junk Journal a year ago. I realized the signatures are loose. This was the 2nd journal I made. I know I pulled the threads for the signatures way too tight. Which cause some ripping of the pages. Yet the signatures are loose. I am petrified, taking everything all apart. It has 3 signatures. I poured my heart and soul into my 1st Christmas Journal. Maybe this will give me the courage I so desperately need. I'm not going to lie. I am afraid I'll make it worse.
I was afraid I was going to make it worse too, but you could untie the signatures and reinforce the folds on each page and re-stitch. Sometimes old and vintage pages are more brittle and need some extra something, perhaps another layer of thin paper would do it. Also it might help to keep more brittle pages to the interior of the signature or between other stronger pages. I like the 3 hole pamphlet stitch for strength and I would recommend making the stitches no more than 1 inch from the top and bottom of the signature.
