When I lived in NYC one of my holiday traditions was visiting the Winter Village in Bryant Park to check out new shoppes and visit old favs, then after having fun in the park going to the library gift shop to do my actual holiday shopping. I LOVE the NYPL and that was one way of supporting it. BTW NYPL main branch is also a great place to take photos, either outside with the lions (Patience & Fortitude) or inside and did you know there is a book train inside - check it out in the Rose Room.
I cast this to my TV and came back to my tablet to give it a thumbs up and comment. I loved this video. I never miss any of your videos because you make me feel like you are talking directly to me. I haven't lived in NYC Since the mid 60s. My husband lived there in the early 70s. Both our families lived in Morningside Heights where the missionaries to other countries often lived and studied on sabbatical or before they were assigned to other countries to work in spiritual or other capacities. We both have very vivid and mostly fond memories of NYC. It is always good to see your videos and particularly when you highlight low cost/no cost ideas for experiencing NYC. Our families had very limited funds for doing things that cost much but were able to experience a lot on our limited budgets. We went to museums for modest donations, flew homemade kites at Grant's Tomb Park, played in Central Park, took the Staten Island Ferry and the subway system to get around. I had good friends from many nationalities and religious backgrounds. I loved it! I am reminded of all those good things as I watch your channel. Hope you and Adriana have the best holiday season yet!
wow! How can anyone not get in the holiday spirit with all those decorations? Thanks for showing us some lesser known attractions- they didn't look crowded at all! Hope you guys have a wonderful holiday season~
We love coming back to New York at Christmas. I enjoy looking at the lights. So many great memories, when I first moved to NYC, I was sitting at my desk Christmas Eve, Penn Plaza, I realized I could walk over to Macy’s.
The NYSE tree is quite honestly MUCH more impressive, at least this year! Wasn’t even aware there WAS a tree down by the stock exchange (and, back when I still lived in New York, our Christmas must-do was the Radio City Christmas show
I wish i could go there once in a lifetime. Bucket list for Blueberry pancakes and enjoy the coffee plus sitting outside to absorb the energy of New York
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 I enjoyed the 98th NYSE Christmas Tree lighting this year. My favorite thing to do in NYC is driving around with family to visit all the Christmas displays from Hudson Yards to Central Park late at night when there’s less people and you can take great pics. Palace Hotel on Madison Avenue won’t have their beautiful tree up in the courtyard this year 😔 last year we saw a Canadian TV station filming there and they had fake snow around the tree and on the road/sidewalk. So pretty. Merry Christmas to you, Adriana and all your family.
The Peninsula Hotel lobby looks amazing! I love all the decorations! The vessel looks beautiful! It has a science fiction vibe to it, like I expect Star Trek characters to jump out at any moment. I never knew the NYSE decorated a Christmas tree as well. I like both the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the NYSE tree!
I definitely would take pictures at the Peninsula location. It just gives off those typical Christmas vibes that we all love with the decorations, and just something about being a in pretty famous hotel during the holidays, even if you’re not staying there…..it still feels special. I feel like little kids would be excited to take pictures there, even without Santa.
The train show at the Bronx Botanical Garden with all the elements made from natural items is a must. And we loved Dyker Christmas lights with a stop off at Juniors in Brooklyn.
Been on the 34th/Hudson Yards escalator many times. Not scary, but I always laugh at how everyone always seem like they are leaning! I'm also NJ born and bred, been living in NYC for 8 years now..Zuccoti park is lovely, and Trinity Church is amazing
Walking through Times Square looking at the street performers is a favorite activity of mine in NYC during the Christmas season 🎄 walking around Macy's looking through the windows at the Christmas stuff is another favorite of mine.
I was at Hudson Yard last December and it was beautiful (and really packed). I remember seeing people up on the vessel last year so it sucks that they closed it down, but I can understand why they did so.
Thank you for sharing this video. Originally from NYC and definitely miss it. Going to serendipity for a frozen hot chocolate was a stop while checking out the lights. Awesome video ❤️💕‼️👍
The Occulus display often has purple lights shining down on it all throughout the day, making it even prettier. I pass through here daily on my way to work. Along with BFPLNY and Hudson Yards, these are all awesome attractions we locals tend to take for granted, but are definitely worth a visit for tourists and out-of-towners who wanna avoid a crowd and photobombs
Two things at the top of my list - I love walking around NYC in a snowstorm and the Lantern Festival at Snug Harbor, we took the Staten Island Ferry, we got to the Lantern Festival early and in walking around we discovered Adobe Blues Mexican restaurant really good, some of my best meals in NYC have been restaurants we just happened upon in walking around, didn't plan to go hadn't heard of them, and this part was freaky I don't know how known or popular Brookfield Place is we've been there many times but I was just thinking about Brookfield Place and wow here it is in your video
Cool video. Wow tree at NYCE building looks like it will give Rockefeller Center a run . I did see the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree a few times this year and about 2 weeks ago I saw the Menorah at in front of Plaza Hotel. My favorite of seeing Christmas Decorations is Dyker Heights. The neighborhood is beautiful during Christmas Time.
Totally love NYC during the holidays!! My favorite activity is skating for hours for FREE (if you bring your own skates) at the Bryant park rink and then relieving my frozen toes with a glass of hot mulled wine from one of the winter village stores.
I trink the clip brings me so much light and makes my Soul happy.Sometimes it is better to focus your eyes on a few things. This makes the things more attractive. I have to excuse me. My english is not so good.
I love going to some of the local restuarants, not the tourist traps, but actual local bars around the city. Places like Ear Inn does a nice subtle holiday decor. Kinda makes having a few and a burger something special. I have seen all the main tourist things several times and they are great. But what I think of when I think of the holidays in NYC are all the little spots and what they do and how everyone is just a touch nicer.
Hi from Germany. I like your videos and it helped us planing our stay in NYC. We have been there from Nov. 27th to Dec. 4th. We even had the chance to attend the Rockefeller christmas tree lighting on the ice rink. It was awesome. Unfortuanetly the Lotte Palace Christmas Tree hasn't been there this year or we have been just too blind to find it (it was one of your recommendation last year). We kind of liked the Bryant Park and the Union Square Holiday Village and the Wollman Ice Rink and Dyker Heights. Thanks for your videos. Happy Holidays
Loved Brookfield Place when we were in NYC 3 years ago . Hoping to be back next year , best skating rink in NYC and a nice get away from it place to stop .
1:22 - Yes, that is the scariest escalator ride! The first time I road it (up), it was crowded, so I couldn't easily see the top and I hadn't look down. Time passes and I am like "we aren't done yet?" I peak around and notice we are barely halfway. Then I make the mistake of looking downward - yikes! I have since gotten used to it, but the first time really weird.
I would prefer to casually walk around and away from the crowds and enjoy the holiday happenings throughout 🎄 💚’d the pace and various locations to enjoy with a loved one - Right On -👍✨
Don't forget the rooftop bar in the Peninsula. A little price but they have heaters and another beautiful tree up there as well. Unfortunately, the vessel has been closed as there have been a few jumpers from it.
OH HEY youre a content creator not just a chatrat like me! NICE video. I love all New York tour videos and livestreams I grew up in new york but left late 90s. Shall I call you Here or Mister Barr? :D happy holidays
Hey John and family, hope all is well. I have been to the South St Seaport Tree, Rockefeller Center (many times), and Bryant Park. I shall check out NYSE, Brookfield Place :), Zuccotti Park, & Peninsula Hotel. I know there are more trees that are lesser known. You did a holiday video on the holiday markets. One or two were in Brooklyn. Thanks for the video.
I always have been interested to visit USA I hope one day I can meet some one from there and get invited to meet that beautiful country, receive love from Mozambique!
My Fav thing to do in NY on the holidays 🤔 well.... Step #1) I need to go to NY during the Holidays 👻 This is why I watch your channel...so I can pretend I'm there 😂
All the trees looked fab, but I think my current favourite is still at Bryant Park. It feels ultra New Yorkish with the ice skating, the cabins all boxed in by the buildings. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals. 🎄
I’d like to see Christmas Tree in Rockefeller center. I’m staying in Chicago this weekend and the decorations on Michigan Ave are very pretty. I’m coming to NY at the end of the month.
But I like popular places 😀 Btw is Bryant park consider well known from outside NYC? 🤔 I do agree Wall Street tree is one of the best. If anything Rock has the Swarovski tree star and surroundings like angels/etc. Btw Per 17 hidden gem is rooftop ice skating ring. Aside from that maybe Lincoln Center tree? And unfortunately some things I like might not be running like Grand Central train show, Gingerbread expo at NY museum of science innQueens, Randall island light show.., I heard there’s great train show in Botanical gardens in Bronx but haven’t been.
@@HereBeBarr Agreed! Might be wrong but what surprise me even though it’s so packed and seem touristy there more locals and much less tourists then the Rock. That’s why wondering how well known it is from outside.

i just left NYC and stopped at all these location and your food tours. loved it and have great pics
@@KPOPIVESTEVE p
Love the NYSE tree! There's a lot less people and you can get right under it!
You gave me some great tips for this video, thank you good sir!

Thanks you too
This is absolute dream! I envy everyone who was either born/is living in NY and is able to see this every single day!
I know right 😩😩😩
I agree but many people born in cool places don’t realize how lucky they are until they move far away
Yes lived here 63 years - it's awesome!
wow! How can anyone not get in the holiday spirit with all those decorations? Thanks for showing us some lesser known attractions- they didn't look crowded at all! Hope you guys have a wonderful holiday season~
i lik it very coool
2:38 “I don’t like shopping” I agree 😬😄😸😁😺😆😃

We love coming back to New York at Christmas. I enjoy looking at the lights. So many great memories, when I first moved to NYC, I was sitting at my desk Christmas Eve, Penn Plaza, I realized I could walk over to Macy’s.

I was in New York last week. Hudson Yards lights were beautiful. Definitely some of the prettiest I seen over there.
OK, now I have another destination on my bucket list. NYC at Christmas time.
You should!
CHRISTMAS in NYC seems something amazing!!! lovely and on point atmosphere for this season!!
The Peninsula Hotel lobby looks amazing! I love all the decorations!

One of the best holiday experiences we did was the carol service in Washington square park on Xmas eve. It was a really touching moment
Walking through Times Square looking at the street performers is a favorite activity of mine in NYC during the Christmas season 🎄 walking around Macy's looking through the windows at the Christmas stuff is another favorite of mine.
It's always great to find alternative things to do instead of the tourist attractions
True that Martin
Jst sat in Beast & Butterflies after your recommendation. Thank you.
Keeping our eyes open to see if we can spot you vlogging while we in NYC 🤞🏻

Thank you for your amazing content, i have been prepping my NY Holiday trip and you are saving my life with these awesome spots.
As a native NYer not a big fan of the RC tree.
Good to hit less popular sites! Thumbs up!
I like the NYSE tree better than RC tree
Moving back to nyc in a month. Your videos give me hope and restore some excitement. Thanks!!!!
Seems like NYC has so many more stunning attractions city wide compared to say, London or other places in the UK. Happy Holidays all
If i had more time could have made it 15 places.

Yes Lotte not up this year
Loved Brookfield Place when we were in NYC 3 years ago . Hoping to be back next year , best skating rink in NYC and a nice get away from it place to stop .
My favorite tree is in the Lotte New York Palace courtyard. Followed by Rockerfeller Center and the the tree at the Met which is unique.
Was under construction last year! I hope it's open in 2022. (Lotte)
The Philippines is the best place to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
TRUE... nothing best like home 😍
New York looks so beautiful at Christmas!🎄🎅🏼Thanks for sharing Jon! ♥️
I'm singing a concert tomorrow near Wall St. and I will definitely check out the tree!
Beautiful Jon. No words to describe it. Just look and enjoy!

I love it! I wish we could be decorated all year
❄️❄️❄️❄️
My favorite thing to do is go to Wo Hop. Obviously with bar hopping to and from there.
I love the Oculus so much! I think all of lower Manhattan just rocks during the holidays!:)
230 Fifth Rooptop goes a little extra during the Holidays. Get a pick of yourself with the Empire lit up in Christmas and a lit up tree right next you
Love the new spots for holiday season pictures and just spending time together with family and friends 🌲 🎅 🎁
So many beautiful displays, ho ho ho🎅🎄🎁
1:22 "Some call this New York's scariest escalator ride"... Washington DC: "Ah, how quaint!"

I always have been interested to visit USA I hope one day I can meet some one from there and get invited to meet that beautiful country, receive love from Mozambique!
Great video, thank you! I will like a video about what can we do on New Years Eve instead of going to Times Square.
Great video, ill hv to visit these stops the next time im in NYC during the holidays.
Went to Rockefeller tree last Monday and it was INSANE!! Great list I’ll have to check them all out!
Loved your recommendations! Very cool...very different n unique 👌

Happy holidays, Jon!

You have a gorgeous city I love the holiday decorations
This video is the best thanks for sharing subscribed !!!
I’d like to see Christmas Tree in Rockefeller center. I’m staying in Chicago this weekend and the decorations on Michigan Ave are very pretty. I’m coming to NY at the end of the month.
The NYSE tree looks way better despite being shorter and on the plus side it has blinking lights!
Jon I like the NYSE Christmas tree better than the one in the Rockefeller Center because it appears to be less crowded.
NYSE tree is my favorite
❤️❤️👍keep sharing unique spots in NYC
No stop at the Fox News Christmas Tree? I hear that thing is lit!
Awesome holiday visit guide 🔥

I know it's super popular, but the Bryant Park Holiday Village is my favorite place in NYC in December.
I was just there it’s 🙌🏼
Jon never fails with his content.
Beautiful 😍

Very nice clip!
Happy Holidays! I'm actually coming back up to NYC for a visit & I'm actually looking for like a good food tour to do this time. Any recommendations?
Look up
Joe DiStefano at chopsticks and marrow he’s the best
Beautiful
I work in Brookfield it’s a awesome place
Thank you for the nice video! Just curious, why did you advise against going to the Oculus late (9pm-ish)?
Bc the inside of the attraction is closed. I showed Actionkids clips of what it looks like inside the rope
@@HereBeBarr I see. Thank you for clarifying :)
The tree at the MET
You missed Dyker Heights Christmas lights! It's epicc
