It happened to me when I was a child. But, now besdes the solos I sang the tenor part and find it one of the most inspiring pieces of sacred music ever written. We use to dance to some of the pieces, All you need is to hear it over and over again to love it more and more!
Hi there I am in a HighSchool Choir and we are doing this piece for a special program of ours called Bach to Rock it really nice! We are BHS Choir and Maybe MAYBE the youngest choir to be trying this stuff out, for us this is easy to do now that we know it, and we are preforming this Sunday!! I can't wait x3 I'm a Bass in the choir and only in 10th grade go figure, anyway good luck to everyone here, there, everywhere with anything that you are doing and see you!!
Having sung the Magnificat, both as a chorister, as well as the Tenor soloist many times, I find this to be a perfect representation, in tempo and interpretation! I've now discovered the Lutherania Choir, and am simply delighted!
C'est vraiment belle cette composition du grand J.S. Bach! Elle traduit parfaitement et met en relief les mots prononcés par la Sainte Vierge sous L'inspiration divine, lors de sa visite à sa cousine Saite Elizabeth.
muzluv33 I completely agree. I thought I was being too picky after listening to the Munchener Bach Orchestra's recording of this piece, but the soloists do not compare. I liked the strings, though.
Been in choirs over 20 years and rarely are Bach pieces done. I think it is a matter of singers are trained less in this style of equal parts. We are so use to the other. We are more timid even high level singers to put it forth. It sounds different. It feels different. The techniques you use for the harmonized lines do not work. You have to find other techniques for your sight reading and ears to learn Bach. To perform it not only do you have independent vocal lines ( you cannot play off the other parts) you also have the orchestration doing there independent thing. I think directors and music educators need to put more of this type of music with independent lines into their repertoires so that it becomes more familiar. When you do not have the skills at a certain level you tend to do methodical. You add the next layer when it becomes ingrained in your music memory.
Oh, but when I said THEY put me to sleep I was referring to these singers. Not the music! I absolutely love this music; it's just that I don't like THIS interpretation at all. It's as if these people weren't feeling what they're singing.

Felhívnám a figyelmet Cser Péter kiváló basszus orgánumára, aki nem csak Bachot, de Mozartot is gyönyörűen ad elő! Köszönöm a jó videót! :)
Beatiful sound of the choir and like very so much alto voice and tenor solists :-)

The "Omnes Generationes", is a bit too fast, but the rest is very good.

Good. Learned it from Dr. Paul Busselberg at San Jacinto College
I cannot agree more. They put me to sleep!
A fast and furious fugue @ 8:15!
Bola
fo me too fast
Dommage. On a un bon orchestre, une direction vive et des chanteurs qui ne se donnent pas. Les voix ne sont pas assurées
