I bought this setup last year and has been great. On a note you will notice you can use a spanner to tighten the rods so no need for holes.
Also an advantage of these rods is their performance in windy conditions.
Good review. They sound great.
With regard to newer rods, I’m a bit shocked that stabilisers like the ACE/AC-Pro are not used much anymore. The AVRS dampening system is fantastic in rods, solid and stiff rods and at a very good price. Back in the day, ACE rods were used a hell of a lot.
Thanks and your right I remember when I first started shooting everyone had stabilizers like the ACE/AC-Pro. I was too young and too inexperienced in archery to have picked up a set. Might have to pick up a set just to give a classic stabilizer a try.
Shots I think would be cool to see are focuses on the end of the rods during and after the shot, an over the shoulder that includes the long rod, and maybe something unique like a worm's eye view. The World Archery videos you post have several shots where you can see the dampers shake while the rod stays nice and stiff. Stuff like that.
I've been eyeing the rods for about a month now, and will probably get them since I just want a high quality stick with no weighty damping in it. The only thing holding me back are the people at my club hating Shrewd for reasons.
It would be a nice comparsion to shot with revel in a quiet place and with the revx as well. Same bow, same weights at the end.
What I would like to know - Did you get any benefit from Shrewd for this review? Or did you buy it, like a normal customer for standard price?
I received no benfits from Shrewd. I am just like everyone else.
Thank you for your feedback.
Hey quick comment and maybe a question. I think the end-cap is 1/2 oz (not 1oz) and the small black section on the riser side of the Doinker is another 1/2 oz. So you get the two 2oz steel weights and two 0.5oz black weights to 5oz total. Can you double check that?
I really really like stabs. Really great value (weights and doinkers included). Really great customer service, too.
Your right the end cap is a 1/2oz and the same for the tapered weight.
I love these rods. I obtained a 28" long rod a couple of months ago and the customization with the weights over other suppliers is incredible (I mean, 5oz of weights and a Doinker!). FYI, I did have a weird failure in that the riser-side end-cap/sleeve separated from the rod but it was replaced no-cost, no-hassle; the replacement has been perfection. I've just ordered 12" side-rods for the outdoor season (as soon as the weather decides to cooperate).
What riser do you use there??
Does the Revel come with instructions?
How do you think the Revel stabilizers compare to RamRods? Any advantages or disadvantages to either platform?
I have never shot the RamRods. If I do in the near future I will make a video
Thanks. Good luck at the Arizona Cup!
Any thoughts on the flat vs 10° down setup?? This looks like a really nice setup. I’m new to it all and shopping…
Does the length given include the 1/2oz tapered weight before the A-Bomb?
anonymous you can put weight between the rod and the bomb
how does onyx compare to revel?
I have not tried the onyx yet but I know the onyx has dampening inside the rod. So you technically will not need dampeners.
