I love this. Has there ever been a band as this odd? No show-off show biz stuff here they are dressed like they just came from jobs in a warehouse. Lead singer who never changes his facial expression, a standing female drummer playing timpani with mallets, and a manic screeching viola. This is a hell of a lot of music coming from four people.
Heard for first time 2021, this hits home, whole different level, way ahead of the times. Masterpiece for all time. All performers cut lose and went wild.
It's quite a cliché to say that when it comes to The Velvet Underground, but still... It's been 25 (50!) years, and the world is still not ready for them.
The world isn't a safe place. Lots of places, people, politics are unsafe. Some infants never stood a chance and the ones who survive linger in prisons and asylums. We need our refuge desperately in belonging, in friendships, intimacy. And we need to catch ourselves from the false refuge of chemical ecstasy. Need to catch ourselves from romanticizing suffering and going out like Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and the friends and relatives each of us, all of us, have all lost. O que escoita a este grupo deveria saber qué a estrella non e o qué canta nin él mismo se deu cuenta en toda a sua vida profesional pero hay que quitarlle a bandeira hasta que morreu tuvo sempre os mellores musicos
they should have perfoemed sister ray for 30 minuites, with all the technological updates they couldve made it even more noisier with cale back. one last sister ray performance. sad.
66oderus ye your post is old anyway here it is played 1 step down so that d and g chords are replaced by c and f there are really nice licks lou adds here and there but you can here just by yourself, theyre so simple as effective
I Kill Communists you are right, but not 100% the shape is the one you get playing d and g, but the chords here are c and f in the shape of d and g this is possible as you lower all of your six strings 1 step down
So often bands that I love play their past classics live, at an older age, and it just doesn't work out. This is an exception.

i feel they were def the first alternative band..
@ Urosh Smodish Viola! Thank you for not mistaking that instrument for a violin, that means a lot for me :) Also what a band. Wow
They rehearsed for this at a place in NYC where I was working in the early 90's and I got to watch them place the full set twice.
i hate you haha
That's fucking cool
What was your takeaway from the experience?
Wow!
Let us all stand in awe of what Mo Tucker meant to this band!
Still can't get enough of Cale's screeching violin, especially towards the end!
Unique!
Wall of sound
The BEST wall of power sound live ever.
amen to that!
Tears bursted at 1:34....three decades on I am still listening to this in the year of 2019...

This is so so wonderful. His voice sounds great!
Saw them at La Cave in Cleveland OH in 1967 - never heard anything like it at the time. Amazing!
Mo Tucker, performance perfection!
I've always said that Moe is the most talented musician in the band.
R.I.P Lou and Sterling!
It's quite a cliché to say that when it comes to The Velvet Underground, but still... It's been 25 (50!) years, and the world is still not ready for them.
Moe Tucker is one sick, primitive drummer!
have you seen them ever live i did fucking good
I love Moe. She was an accidental bandmember. Now she's a granny doing day care.
She’s amazing. Doesn’t get nearly enough credit…
An absolute force of nature. It is NOT the VU without Mo. She is amazing!!!!
The best Version Heroin Lou and John Cale! RIP Lou! 🎸🎶❤️🎸
That look on Cale's face at the end. Madness
John Cale is amazing on this at the end...
Guess what I did for the last hour?
(hint: 5 clicks on the repeat button)
what a song!
true that, though original LP version rocks
can i "like" one thousand times?
I would have paid f-ing anything to go to this tour (unfortunately I was 6 at the time and didn't even know who they were yet)
*I enjoy listening to this song as the vicodin hits my bloodstream*

Superb! The gig in Edinburgh was excellent!

Tune in now
Bone chilling.
Great
clap ! clap ! clap !
glad to see someone else is annoyed by audience participation.
How to feel Heroin without taking it.
I’ve been listening to VU and this song since the early 70s and that is exactly what I think. Of course, that is the way it was written and performed.
@@t4fnut off coarse !

Blame Lou's ego for their touring ending
who is the violin player ? he normally plays bass right ?
John Cale
Does anyone know where I can find a guitar tab to THIS live version of Heroin. I can't find one anywhere. Only the album version.
