I'm trying to program a PIC32MX250F128B and all I get is: "Unable to connect to the target device. Failed to get Device ID" The green power light and blue active lights are on on the PICkit3. I've tried every voltage between 2.5 and 3.5 which is the entire range for this PIC chip. Any ideas?
why do i have the urge to make a "short video" on programming a pic manually? long ago one could program them with a relatively simple circuit, on the parallel/serial ports... and thats only a small step from manual. always sort of wanted to try it... just need a bunch of switches. and some time. the hexfiles all translate to binary opcodes... fairly straightforward.
What do you see in Device Manager when you attach the Pickit3? You might have a bad USB cable, you might need to change channels for the USB. You need to troubleshoot.
The hex file must be produced (code written) in accordance with what you intend the PIC to do. The only purpose of the video that I made was to show the step by step process of using a PICKit3 to load the hex file onto the PIC. The actual content of the Hex file was irrelevant to my video. The Hex file needs to be specially written to its purpose the same as any programming code.
Sir, I interested how to use this programber for read ic program and save file in pc. Its use in direct in instrument pcb in? Same manufacturer give testing 5 point near microchip. That time smps want on for 5v , same i confuse.
Thank You for the video. I have a question, i Have a microcontroller that the it's number was scratched off. How can I identify the model number and download the program it has so i can make copies of it into new picks?
When the PICkit 3 Programmer Application is first opened, it will attempt to identify the connected device by the device ID and display it in the Configuration window.
Here is the user manual www.microchip.com/en-us/development-tool/PG164130#Documentation Since you are using the MPLAB IDE it should be pretty straight forward, just download the Mac version.
Hi guys . I’m starting with MPLAB ipe . I need your help . What environment is good to use ( compiler , debugger , editor )and where to download them Thank you for help
Yes you certainly can connect the Pickit3 without the cable assembly. I thought it might be easier to show it with the extension especially as that makes it easier for me to update the PIC when it is installed in my project box. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Very nice video. I saw you had a pre-developed hex file that you selected. Where did the hex file come from? How donI locate the proper one for my PIC? I am struggling with the PICKit 4 getting the proper hex file loaded onto a PIC16F1704.

Thanks alot, can i use this program also with Microchip Pickit serial anayzer ? I tried but it didnt detect it.
Thank you.
Can I use it for a dsp3010 pic too?
PICKit3 not detected in windows 10? please guide in this
Sir. I can't select tool for pic kit3. Does it need driver?

There is a download link in the video description. Have you taken a few minutes to watch the video?
You can connect both pieces without the cable

Hex file generated by MicroC pro for PIC , is working with pickit 3 ?
I do not use MicroC Pro so I am unable to provide you with an accurate answer.
@advancedinkscape8494 thank you ....
Gracias !!!!
De nada.
