With a small bumper clearance cut and removal of the caps and tapping the pinch weld in the inner fender down for tire safety you can fit 29'' tires on stock suspension just fine. Even without the sway bar.
Just installed this on mine. Man the ride is so much better. I got right around 2" lift from this as well, with 2.5" on the passenger front because apparently the stock suspension was extra low on that wheel.
Nice! I just found out from the forums that it’s not good to go bigger then 29 inches unless you adjust the gearing. I was bummed at first bc I want bigger tires but seeing how yours came out makes me excited again 💯🤙🏼
@@sebastianvilchis7346 Axle gears are an option, but it's much better to just change transfer case gears. It's cheaper, there's more options available, and you can get a normal high range reduction with a crazy large low range reduction

I’m not sure if you reply anymore but this is one of the most useful videos I have ever seen installing a lift kit suspension on the Suzuki samurai! I can’t wait to put mine on, but it’s a shame that you didn’t show footage of the suspension in action because the only footage of you driving the samurai was when you were recording from your dash. Thanks again
Thank you for your thorough video. It has been very helpful as I likely will get this kit. After a year now, how would you evaluate the ride? Is it much softer than stock? Does it handle good at speed? Thank you also for your video on the new top.
Thanks for the comment. I think 31" would be pretty tight. I think it'd rub at full turn. However, with the addition of a 1" or 2" body lift I think it would work with those tires assuming the wheel offset is suitable.
For 31" you need at least a 2 " body lift and you'll still get tyre scrub in the front wheel arches and Honestly even with 29" you should still look into a 2" body lift, it makes a world of difference
Hello, I have been watching a few of your videos on the Samurai. I too have a Samurai (Gypsy) a long wheelbase SJ 413W back home in India. It's a 2016 and I miss it a lot. Looks like you're based in Alberta. Where abouts you're located? I would like to visit and have a look at your beautiful Samurai. Thanks.
Is this the same lift as the 1.5" kit a lot of vendors list? Any follow up thoughts on the install since June? I have a broken spring in the rear so I need to replace at min my entire rear set. Issue is my current leafs are totally unknowns, so I'm not sure if I have a mild lift spring or an "OE" replacement. On the fence about the 1.5" EMU vs another OE set.
Greg White yes this is the OME kit commonly available. I am still very pleased with it. Ride quality is much better than stock. It drives very well. If you’re looking for springs with just a small lift, I do recommend these.
I have a samurai I'm wanting to lift. I put a 1.6 8v from a tracker in it. Had to buy the adaptor plate for the 1.3 tranny to the 1.6 block, but did you have to get drive shaft spacers or anything or was it just the springs that you installed. And I'm wandering because my oil pan is hitting my front axle and they said that I need al least a 3" lift. Will those springs help me so the oil pan doesn't hit anymore. Thank you
Thank you for your thougough tutorial on this spring kit. Did this mod soften up the ride any? Is it worth it for a street driver/mild trail rig? Thank you.
nice job how do you find the suspension? Is it allot better than before? i am thinking ome for my samurai too but i am afraid that it is going to be too soft and be more bad on turns
@@dr.dansgarage Thank you! with the lift and the tyres it started being a lot more beautifull. I think that with a black softop with tinted windows will be amazing. With what you paint the body underneath for protection?

Thanks for making this video! I'm considering the OME kit for my 1988 Samurai and watching your install it was helpful, especially since I'd be installing it in my driveway too, not on a lift. I'm wondering if your '92 Samurai had power steering when you bought it?
It rides quite nice. Still firm but not as much as the stock springs. I haven’t done a flex test challenge. I presume it would be better than stock but not as good as larger, softer lift springs. It is only a small lift after-all.

Kala Hunter no argument here that gearing affects performance. However, with this modest increase in tire size this particular samurai actually drives better. There’s no appreciable difference in acceleration and cruising on the freeway is actually better. Yes the samurai needs more power but it was that way before too. I would expect any tire bigger than this would be detrimental without the appropriate gear change. Thanks for the comment.
You make that car look the way it should. Beautiful work. My dream truck is the samurai

Good question, I haven’t measured it but it looks the same. I don’t think it has sagged any significant amount.

I ordered from “low range offroad” website if I remember correctly
I installed the same lift on my 87. Do you think 31" tires would fit? Did it change any drive shaft angle?
It would take some hammering of the front fender seams and possibly moving the front axle forward 3/4”.
Why not delete the sway bar as well?
As it is right now is a pretty good mix of off-road and on-road capability.
What is the offset on the wheels? they look perfect
