Watched this back in 2020 when we were still making pineapple beer. really helped a lot! so much so, that i came back and found this vid again as im now making the cider. thanks again boet! great vid.
Hey Shane...you are a cake man, amusing vid, well presented and, thanks , add 2 teaspoons of sugar per 2l bottle after the brew has fermented @7 days, bottle and screw the lid on tight and have fizzy/carbonated ever so slightly sweeter resultant after 24 hours(remember you are using coke bottles, they are made to withstand carbonated pressure....)

Do you know how to turn non-alcoholic beer into alcoholic beer? There is plenty of non-alcoholic beer available in the shops and I was just wondering if adding some yeast & sugar will do the trick.
Awesome video my brother, much appreciated! I think I might have done it incorrectly, though... I couldn't find brewers yeast, so I used 20g instant yeast I got from Spar. I used 5l of boiling water to dissolve the sugar in a different container then added cold water to it. So the water I poured into my 20l container wasn't that warm in all honesty. Is there a reason for the warm water, or is it just to dissolve the sugar? I don't want to be remembered as the oke who died because he wanted to save R2 in electricity expenses.
The warm water is used to activate the yeast and allow it to release carbon dioxide and ethanol (alcohol). Cold water does not activate the yeast and water that is too hot can kill it. I know this is 8 months later, but I only got here now. Hope it still helps though
Hi I'm busy with my primary fermentation of Pineapple and Granadilla beer. I used 30g of Anchor yeast. I couldn't find any brewers yeast except in tablet form. However I have some Champagne yeast on order. Where did you get your Brewers yeast and what brand is it? Thanks for the fun informative video. Can't wait for the results.
Hi Shane, great video, and you got another sub…. Tell me how long did you leave the apple cider also 5-7 days before bottling? Also do you put your bolttles straight into the fridage to stop the process or do you let them brew for a few days before refrigerating? Many Thanks
Hi thank you for the video but I have a handful of questions if you don't mind answering them. 1. I have read that with some methods and/or alcohol that if left for a longer period of time, the beer could become toxic. Is this true with this specific method as well? 2. When using the funnel to bottle the beer, would it not be better to substitute the strainer for a piece of cloth to avoid having any of the leftover yeast making its way into the bottle? Or does this method eliminate all traces of it? 3. Is there a specific agent in pineapple that works so well for this recipe or can it be replaced with any other fruit? Thanks again for the video, I really appreciate it! And excuse the lengthy questions but I plan on making this for my family sometime soon and I don't want the mixture to go bad and cause them illness.
Hi Bud.. No stress at all.. I have never had any issues with my brews, but they are valid points none the less.. 1. I would not leave it for longer than 7 days, this will def affect the taste and could leave a bitter one in your mouth, 7 days will be long enough for these ingredients to do what they need to.. I do however make mampoer like once a year, or moonshine however you would refer to it and I let this process which is vert similar ferment for about 3 weeks, it still does not come out toxic at all, I do however properly distill the brew to get the alcohol out, so this may kill any toxins, but yes for the beer I dont foresee any issues. 2. There is nothing wrong with taking extra precaution when bottling, I simply use a wire strainer and it works just great (I will video that later today and put on my channel). Reasons for using really hot water is that it cleans the tap water for one of chloro etc as well as allows the sugar and yeast to dissolve properly, if you stir it once every say 2 days you will eliminate any chance of there being some left that goes into the bottle (in whole form anyways) 3. Pineapple is a go to for many new comers and nothing wrong with that.. This can be substituted for other fruits, I have used peaches and pears or even apricots for eg.. I obviously cant give you a yay or nay on every fruit but theres no harm in trying, just keep your quantities on the same level. I hope this does help, I have also researched these topics a few times and as none of us actually own breweries or distills we need to just check our own facts and make sure we are all happy with what we make, but again, no issues with mine at all, and it tastes pretty good! Good luck.. Let us know how it turns out..
@@Breakfastondemand Thanks for being so informative, much appreciated. since my local store does not sell pineapples, should 12 pears/apples be sufficient?
Hi Shane, I noticed that you only used 2.5kg sugar and not 4kg as per your recipe above... assuming that is all ok - i.e that by only using 2.5kg it wont affect the fermentation process? Thanks
Hi bud.. Yes leave the tea bads in all the way till the end.. Use anything from 6 bags I would say, it just adds that little extra flavor, I personally prefer more apple than tea taste so I used the 6..
Hi Shane, I made my batch let it stand for 5 days then strained it and bottled, but I see there is residue at the bottom of bottle, do I leave it like that or do I need to strain it again? And will it be fizzy after 3 days
Thumbs up man But please is the any quicker method with high alcohol volume I'm begging I'm thirsty I can't wait 7days Or what about if add some house hold spirit can it be consumable
Great video thank you. Just a quick question. would it not be better to boil the water to completely dissolve the sugar and then bring temp down before adding the yeast or does it not matter?
It would help but will only bimuy you about 5 min, it's also hard to boil a big amount like that for most people.. It does not however make the world of difference. So long as you have it hot.. That really just helps clean the water a bit as well..
My brother in law made a batch and we had it after 7 days but he didnt decant once the sediment settled so it was murky while we drank it and gave a bit of a kick....... buuuuuut then we left the rest because we weren't enjoying it for another week and the sediment settled and boom we had clear hunters tasted amazing and I had about 3 big wine glasses and let's just say my wife was laughing at me for the shit I was talking and also falling around everywhere😂😂😂I started my own batch yesterday 2 X 25L cans but I'm leaving it for 7days and the other for 14 days so it will be almost like a wine without the gas and mix it with lemonade which also made me quite lit🙈😂😂
Hi Chad.. Yeah look it's not a necessity but I would make the tiniest hole just to let some of those gasses escape. You could end up with a lid popping off and flies looking for their new home.. The gasses will come once you have bottled it..
HI Ivan, yeah like i saidto Mike above you, checked in and had a little taste, so far its awesome!! you could easily take it all and decanter after 5 days, those extra few really just give it that "kick" day 3 for now...

Do you know how to turn non-alcoholic beer into alcoholic beer? There is plenty of non-alcoholic beer available in the shops and I was just wondering if adding some yeast & sugar will do the trick.
No because non alcoholic beer will have preservatives in it for increased shelf life, it will kill any yeast you add to it.

IF THE WATER IS TOO HOT IT WILL KILL THE YEAST. So best make it luke warm at best???
Correct.. I let it stand and loaded the cold fruit in as I was cutting so the water cooled enough to be good for the yeast 😉
