On Saturday 16 DEC 2017, I put together a Christmas party for around 130 kids from 3 different informal settlements around Pretoria north. Hey Shane...you are a cake man, amusing vid, well presented and, thanks , add 2 teaspoons of sugar per 2l bottle after the brew has fermented @7 days, bottle and screw the lid on tight and have fizzy/carbonated ever so slightly sweeter resultant after 24 hours(remember you are using coke bottles, they are made to withstand carbonated pressure....)

    Awesome video my brother, much appreciated! I think I might have done it incorrectly, though... I couldn't find brewers yeast, so I used 20g instant yeast I got from Spar. I used 5l of boiling water to dissolve the sugar in a different container then added cold water to it. So the water I poured into my 20l container wasn't that warm in all honesty. Is there a reason for the warm water, or is it just to dissolve the sugar? I don't want to be remembered as the oke who died because he wanted to save R2 in electricity expenses.

      The warm water is used to activate the yeast and allow it to release carbon dioxide and ethanol (alcohol). Cold water does not activate the yeast and water that is too hot can kill it. I know this is 8 months later, but I only got here now. Hope it still helps though

    Do you know how to turn non-alcoholic beer into alcoholic beer? There is plenty of non-alcoholic beer available in the shops and I was just wondering if adding some yeast & sugar will do the trick.

    • @TiltmanMusic
      @TiltmanMusic 4 роки тому

      No because non alcoholic beer will have preservatives in it for increased shelf life, it will kill any yeast you add to it.

    • @victoria9381
      @victoria9381 4 роки тому

      @@TiltmanMusic That actually makes sense. I should have thought of that.

    Hi Shane, great video, and you got another sub…. Tell me how long did you leave the apple cider also 5-7 days before bottling? Also do you put your bolttles straight into the fridage to stop the process or do you let them brew for a few days before refrigerating? Many Thanks
