Neat accessory! I really like the way you explained the process step by step. Wondering, when you were using the drill press you mentioned that you need to run the smaller drill bits at a higher speed. What is the reason for using the varied speeds, especially using the higher speed with a smaller bit?

larger the drill the slower it turns, but the speed of the outer surface moves a long distance for one turn, a small drill has to turn many times for the outer edge to travel the same distance. hence a faster speed.

Thanks for checking on me, yes I am doing ok, will have a few more videos soon. I have some more problem solving video's to do. Summer has been a busy time here, 40 acres to take care of, dirt bike, gardening, firewood, cooking and cleaning, operation on my hand to fix Vikings Disease this summer, etc. My wife is handicapped at this time. I have just now cleaned the shop and ready to settle down for the winter here in the North.

Brian, once you set the cutter length, you can duplicate the diameter of the hole as many times as you want. However, if I was only making or enlarging one hole, I don't see the advantage over using a flat bottom scraper. Am I missing something?

You are right on. I originally saw a demo using a I believe a 2 7/8 bit to make the hole for a small mouth mason. I don't have. First ones I made with chisel, then I saw a fly cutter I had made for the milling machine. I thought maybe this would work, it did. I friend wants to make them for gifts etc, want to come and make one like I had. I have the metal tools. I though, much to difficult to make for this. To come up with a better plan of something that he could do easily, I came up with this idea. It worked great..fun to make and could be adjusted for all kinds of applications. I often want to bore a hole bigger than the 2 inch bit, so to me it could be useful. and maybe others too.

Plans really not necessary. As mentioned in video I had a 7/8 piece of metal, used 1/2 bolt for the shaft. Hole drilled near bottom. 11/32 for 1/4 inch lathe tool stock. Set screws can be whatever you have.
