Oh, wow! Finish 23 equals Christmas presents from 2018! Table runners for nieces and nephews, quilts for brother, son and daughter. Tree skirt for son's new home. They are all sewn, just have to quilt. 9 projects, 9 months...I better get started today! 😊😊😊
I have a sweater that I was working on when my mom passed 13 years ago and I think enough time has passed that I can go back and finish it now. I used to work on it when I was caring for her. 😢
Those quilts are beautiful
Hi Deborah! I enjoyed seeing your quilt projects. Those are all big accomplishments! I am also trying to finish up some long standing things this year. I am working through my quilt projects that are in all different stages. I have finished two so far. One was the Lori Holt Bake Sale quilt which turned out so cute. I love it. I do still need to sandwich and quilt it, but when I have the top completed I considered that done! The one I was most excited about, happened to also be a Lori Holt pattern and it is the Bloom quilt. I completed it and machine quilted it myself. I decided I wanted to give it to my dear friend who is suffering from dementia. Her husband is her primary caretaker and it is a very challenging time in their lives. She still knows, me and I thought while she is still able to enjoy it I wanted her to be able to have it to give her a little sunshine in her life. It is fun sunny pastel yellows, primarily. Anyway, It also makes me feel good to chip away at some long standing projects that need to be done so they can be enjoyed. Take care. Becki
Hi Debra, Your quilts are beautiful!! You have inspired me to finish my EPP Hexie Flower quilt and my Battenberg blanket. All your makes are lovely. Thank you for your podcast! All the best, Sheila
Remember the Virus shawl? Well I have one in a project bag. About halfway done, started during the pandemic. And now I’m finishing it!
Seems appropriate.
I LOVE that you started a Virus shawl during the pandemic! 🤣
2023 is the year of cleaning up my crafting bounty, so I know what I have and then using it instead of buying MORE--YIKES 🙂Thanks for being such an inspiration
That's a great goal. It's hard to have a focus when the supplies are disorderly. I do love a tidy workspace and struggle to keep it that way. Best wishes!
The timing of this podcast is perfect! Two weeks ago, I pulled out my Battenberg blanket. When I started it three years ago, I calculated the dimensions and the number of squares required. Of the 780 squares I want for my blanket, I’ve completed only 152. The Battenberg blanket and a tote bag that I started two years ago, are the two projects I would love to finish this year.
I love quilts. Yours are gorgeous works of art. I love, love, love the bunny quilt. What lucky grandchildren to snuggle under that when they come to visit. ❤
Oh Deborah, your quilts are masterpieces! I hope the recipient will treasure them. Your so talented.
I have 9 grandchildren and about 6 years ago I bought fabric to make aprons with each of them and only 3 are finish, 4 started and 2 haven't been touched. I should finish the rest and surprise them at Christmas this year. Thanks for the encouragement.
Congrats on your accomplishments! The one you completed that was your daughter’s is so beautiful and I love the quilting designs. I haven’t quilted much but just finished one that got started about 30 yrs ago and got pulled out occasionally to work on. It’s now at the quilters! Yeah! What a self esteem boost. I too am finishing things, great feeling. Keep up the great job!
I have so many quilt wips to finish, I would love the motivation, and energy to do that, that would be so wonderful to have my quilting MOJO back.
I have a a quilt that I started for my oldest grandson who is now 25 years young! You have inspired me to pull it out and get it finished. He would be so surprised if I finished it for him. I also have a crochet sweatshirty top for my daughter for her birthday. I will really try. Thank you for sharing, your projects are always so beautiful 😍
HI Deborah ! Wonderful visit yet again. Your quilts are just STUNNING ! Whimsical, Well done and a Welcome for anyone's shoulder that that finds its way cozied underneath one. Thankope the stars alig you for sharing them and your magic. I hope the stars align here..... I finished all the delicious squares for sweet Sandra of Cherry Heart's ' Natures Walk ' Blanket over A YEAR AGO !!! , but NEVER Joined them or finished with the dear heart border ! The squares have been blocked, ends tucked away , WAITING for me to finish. It is the ONLY languishing treasure I have waiting so.... NO EXCUSES this year !!! It will be on my crochet hook in April - that is the plan ! All the best to you as always. ( ^ ; * ) marcia
😅 My husband Michael was in tech support for the San Diego Union-Tribune (back in the day) he'd always ask the client if they had their computer plugged in? You'd be surprised at how many people forget the most simple things.
LOVE the turquoise & orange lap quilt so very pretty! 💕🤗 But oh, that bunny quilt is out of this world gorgeous! Goodness, you have been busy! I sympathize about hand quilting, or anything involving using my right hand as my thumb, index & center fingers are permanently numb & tingly.😟
OMGoodness that project bag is so sweet and your 'Mystery Confection' skein is beautiful.
I'm looking to finish at least one pile of Spoonflower fabric and make them all into bags. Besides the pile of fabric, I'm looking to finish in 2023 the notebook of assorted knitting patterns I have set aside for gift giving Even if I finish half of them I will have more than enough gifts to give everyone. 🤗🙌🏼💕
Hope you're well and that you're treating yourself kindly ~ Lacy
This year I want to finish an English paper piecing quilt that has been in the works for several years. The fabric hexes are vintage feedback fabrics. Just writing it here makes it a commitment! Thanks for the fun podcast.
I am working on finishing a english paper piecing quilt. I started this years ago. Hopefully this is the year. Thanks for another great podcast!
Love your quilts, you're so clever.I'm going to finish all my wips, then I am doing a Whitmoor cardigan.
I could hear the sound quality difference immediately. It sounds great! You have such an amazing collection of quilts, Deborah! I’m inspired to get my languishing quilt out of my closet & finish it. I pray that everything goes well for you & your family with everything you have going on. Take care of yourselves! 💖
Your quilts are beautiful. I have a quilt I started maybe 20 years ago. You have inspired me to finish it this year. I am not buying yarn this year only using what I have.
Love, love love your bunny quilt! You are so talented! I too pulled out all my projects that first week in January with intentions of finishing or donating. I’ve finished a cross stitch stocking, an embroidered little dog, an angel beaded project and now a quilt I started with my mom who has been gone for ten years. I donated a bunch of projects to my “sit and stitch “ group. I’ve put all the rest of the projects on my chair in my bedroom so that it’s the first and last thing I see in the day to spur me on. A few more quilt projects and one more cross stitch project and I’ll have them done 🎉 And then … we have to rebuild our front porch this spring!
Lovely podcast! The quilts are beautiful. Especially the one with the bluebirds. I would love to finish a few wips, the Ryman wrap which I’ve had on the needles two years and a few others. The thing is it’s always fun to cast on something new. Why is that? What a cute bunny bag and that yarn.💕
I am finishing a project for me! After lots of knitting for my 6 grandkids, this is a colorwork steeked cardigan for me!!! Love your yarns! The circus peanut colorway I have is amazing!
That is fantastic that you are knitting for yourself after making for everyone else, and a stetted cardigan nonetheless!
Your quilts have me drooling - I have made probably 15-20 quilts over the years but not in about 7 years. While I have no aging projects I do have an aging desire to do another quilt - my knitting is current except for socks. I think I’ll quilt a table runner - that might satisfy my yearning lol. Love your stuff.
I have a quilt that I have started when my 14 year old daughter was a baby. I am hand quilting it, so it is a slow process. You quilts have inspired me to finish it this year!
That is so sweet. You can do it!
I really enjoy your videos. You have inspired me to complete an orange peel quilt I started many years ago. Thank you for the inspiration 😊
Wonderful! I saw a fun way of making orange peel quilts years ago on the Fons and Porter channel. They made larger, maybe10" circles, sandwiched two together with the batting, turned right side out and stitched closed. Then they folded four sides in to make the circle into a square. After making many of these, they stitched the new "blocks" together through the folded lines, then stitched down the little flaps to make the orange peel design that is already quilted and finished. I have had that one my wish list for years now. I would like to see yours!
I have a 15 year old quilt I need to finish.... I think I'll finish it this year too!!
It's a good year for finishing these old quilts!
Repurposing a quilt my Grandma made 40 years ago into a coat. As I hand stitch it together, I’m repairing the fabrics that are falling apart (intentional mending). It’s been years in the planning, but is now about 1/3 finished. I’m enjoying touching the fabrics she touched, and stitching the layers together she stitched…but adding my own fabric and quilting to it. This is one of my Finish in 2023 projects.
I am working on The Shift by Andrea Mowry. I love the first scrappy cowl colors, vibrant and lovely for spring.
Your quilts are beautiful! I have several projects I want to finish before I let myself start anything new. That is a hard goal 😊
I want to finish my Dingley Dell Tee so I can have it for the summer season. It is my hope to slowly work through other works in progress in 2023 also! Have a wonderful day!!!
That's a great project to start your finish it 2023 with!
Debra, it was fun and inspiring seeing your finished quilts. For years my mom and I would participate in block of the month clubs at our local quilt shops (yes, some years we would participate at three different shops). It would cost anywhere from $5 to $10 per shop for the year as long as you came each month and showed your finished block. You would then get the fabric pack and pattern for the next months block. We alway finished our squares but finishing them into a quilt didn't always happen. I do have three completely finished quilts and an embarrassing amount of quilt blocks. My goal this year is to finish at least one quilt or multiple table toppers/runners from one set of 12 blocks. I'm not sure if my quilting experience has anything to do with it but I am a monogamous knitter and at this time the Simply Curious Shawl by Helen Stewart is on my needles. Looking forward to your next podcast.
Beautiful quilts. Love your sweater. I just finished an afghan I started crocheting in 2017. My granddaughter redid her room recently and was wanting a shades of green blanket, so I pulled it out and finished it and gave it to her. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes for the move and the wedding.
This year I'm finishing new sweaters for my husband and our three kiddos 😊 1 1/2 sweaters done so far!
Hi Deborah, congratulations on finishing your quilts, they are all gorgeous! Love the leftover cowl and have added it to my wishlist. The project I hope to finish this year is a large full cover cross stitch. It’s for my sister’s 50th birthday, she will be 58 this year 😬, Bridget R
Love this episode and you look GLORgeous! My finish it 2023 projects are my crochet granny square blankets and my vintage sheet quilt. I hope I’ll also finish my two panel marled blanket but let’s be realistic. 😂
Your quilts are incredible! I’m so ahhmazed by quilters such as yourself that make it look so effortless 🧵 I’m new to quilting and am working on a scrappy string quilt at the moment, but I’ve invested in some lovely fabric and an actual pattern that’s waiting in the wings. Buying the fabric was the start, so I feel committed! My plan is to complete it in a timely manner and actually have it look decent. I hope I can do! You’re great inspiration!
Love your podcast! I have 2 knitted blankets and a quilt that I plan on finishing by the end of the year🤞🏻
I’m finishing socks from yarn I purchased in a yarn shop from Santa Fe years ago. Also finishing a Christmas quilt.
Oh nice! Good luck!
I'm wanting to finish my Advent Moss stitch corner to corner lap blanket that I started 2 Christmas ago! I've been working on it this past month and really enjoying it. I love your quilts!! You're very talented in many crafts! Your bunny bag is darling and the green skein of yarn reminds me of Easter grass. ❤
Oh my goodness Deborah your quilts are so pretty! I love the very colorful one. I have a few socks to finish from test knitting and I scrappy scarf from a couple of years ago, I will like to finish in a couple of months so I can start on more projects.
Thank you! “Keep on knitting. Keep on knitting. What do we do? We knit, knit.”🎶
I love all your quilts! You’ve got me motivated to finish some old WIPs, and quilts I have abandoned. My first thing to finish is the shawl I’m making for a Birthday present for one of my sisters, so I’m being monogamous for now.- Maureen
I'm working on finishing some books and a list of trying new crafts. Right now I'm doing my first embroidery project.
Thank you. You have lots on your plate at the moment, but like that you are able to do some of the things for encouragement.
It's true. I may be limited in time or physical ability, but there is always something I can do.
Finished a Flax Light by Tin Can Knits for my husband’s birthday. Granddaughter saw it and wants an oversized version just like Grandpa’s sweater. Nearing the decreases and cuff on her second sleeve.
In 2023, I would really love to finish a pile of unfinished crochet blankets that I’ve had lying around for years (I love the starting and excitement of a new pattern/new colors and then they never get finished 😬). Also! Am really looking forward to knitting my first sweater this year (2023 goal!). I’m a big sock and shawl knitter and want to branch out.
I only work on one thing at a time. Right now I am working on a shawl I am designing as I go. Hopefully it will be finished soon.
I love your podcast. I am so happy Emily started her own. I miss you two together, but totally understand how hard it is to get together.
Yes, it was such a challenge trying to align our schedules. I do miss recording together, but this is the next best thing. Thank you for watching, and commenting. Best of luck as you design your shawl!
I began a Tin Can Knits Lullaby blanket using my acrylic leftovers in blues. It's worsted, throw size. I have made one other one with my leftover socks yarns held double. Fun pattern and easy to pick up.
I have three scrappy blankets that I would like to get finished. They have been neglected for too long. Not sure if I can finish them this year, but I have been making great progress on them so far since the start of the new year. I really enjoy your podcast. Thank you for sharing your time and talents.
You can do it! I like using the snowball method, where you start with whatever project is closest to being finished and put your time into that one only. Once it's finished, work on the next closest one, and so on. Fingers crossed your get them done!
I have a Michael Powell cross stitch triptych that I started many years ago and you have inspired me to get it out and finish it! It has boats and beach huts on it and is about two thirds done so I am well on the way.
I’m finishing a crocheted temperature blanket from last year. Still working on August, but determined to finish it in the next month or so. Your video reminds me I have a quilt project I haven’t touched in years. It would look so pretty in my living room, so I should work on it again!
That bunny bag! So cute!! So this year I want to finish my husband’s Jaiden sweater I started last year. I also have three fingering weight blankets (Northeasterly, Hexi puff, and granny stripe), and I want to finish one of those.
I have an acrylic scrappy granny stripe blanket that I started awhile ago. Any time I make something in acrylic I add the leftovers to this blanket. I don’t use that much acrylic so it’s definitely a lingering wip. I think I’ll go buy a few skeins of mixed colors and just finish it.
I want to finish a quilt I started last summer. I have other sewing projects started, but I'd like to have that done. I love all your quilts, but the bunny one is my favorite.
What kind of a quilt is it that you want to finish?
You have inspired me with your braided quilt pattern. What a good way to use up those scraps and leftovers. I am trying to finish a needle turn Hawaiian quilt and I also want to finish a knitted shawl called Dirty Lace. When those are done I'm sure I'll find another ufo to work on.
It is so great to see you and your makes. I am going to finish a cozy memory/log cabin mash up blanket that I started in 2018. I’m currently bordering the blocks on the last row and then I have to sew the rows together. This is the year I will finish this.
I have two scrappy blankets that I’d like to finish this year.
I love your quilts! I would like to finish my scrappy blanket this year.
You do such beautiful work from your quilts to knitting! I am planning on finishing my Habitation Throw in 2023. I started it last year with a bunch of minis I accumulated. I only pick it up once in awhile but plan to get her done this year!! Great podcast!
That is a beautiful project to choose for your finish!
Oh my goodness all your projects are stunning! I have started a ten stitch blanket I really need to finish.
You can do it!
Love all your colorful, cheery projects. Hoping to finish my Polesden Wrap from my 2022 advent. And my 50 book challenge I’m doing!
You are already a huge chunk into your 50 book challenge. I am so impressed!
Lol, remove the cover! That has happened to me too. I also have a goal this year to finish all WIPs that I started before 2023. There were 15 on the list- most projects are to FMQ quilts that are sandwiched. I am trying to complete 1 a month and I’m on track. I am FMQing a WIP right now, in fact.
Your scarf is beautiful! And definitely your colors!
I have a shawl pattern that I am trying to finish for my son's teacher. And I am trying to finish my own design socks as well.
I am also trying to finish projects… really close to my purl soho half wrap!!! Yay
Just started a poncho that i already had yarn for
Also finished a sock set❤️
Love all your projects!!! I am finishing a pastel granny square blanket.
That sounds beautiful. Good luck!
Beautiful quilts Debra! I want to finish my 2019 Rhinebeck sweater which is the Weekender by Andrea Mowry.
I’ve been knitting garter squares with the idea to sew them up into a blanket for my son. All in worsted weight different shades of red. It will look like a garter quilt (I hope). Hoping to finish for his birthday in September I’m almost 1/2 done!
I have lots of things I want to finish and my plan is to finish at least 2 projects before I start another. That is going well and I have finished probably 10 things so far. But what I really need to finish, just need to find the time, is to finish organizing my fabric and yarn stash. They are in somewhat of an organized state but then I go digging to find this or that and I bring in new acquisitions and it becomes a mess again. So that is my big goal, to complete a workable storage system.
I’m usually a monogamous knitter. The only thing I have to finish is Sheldon sheep. I would like start a counted crosstitch kit, I bought several years ago.
I have a stack of yarn in bags with projects I keep meaning to do and instead keep doing the easier new projects. I have made my self finish a poncho and a baby blanket and then didn't do any thing for a while. This taught me my biggest issue is starting. So in effort to work on my projects I must cast on one a month and swatch for the next one so I have no excuse. Once I have them on the needles I'm pretty exclusive I hope this will help keep me from chasing down the newest projects and not doing the ones I already bought yarn and patterns for.
I tried to teach myself to make a quilt,(5years ago) so I hope to continue it, it is a dresden pattern. I am also working on a knitted blanket for my brother, started it in 2019, buts and bobs by Kay Jones. Wish me luck.
Love that bunny bag and the gorgeous bunny quilt, well done for finishing it. I am working on the Steven West Year of socks patterns. I have finished January and am almost finished February, and have the yarns picked out for the March pattern. I am trying to catch up and be ready to start April when the pattern is released. He also released a bonus pair, so I have completed two pair and am working on the third.
A year of socks sounds like so much fun, especially with the playful nature of Stephen West designs.
Oh my goodness, I have so many unfinished projects! If you saw them all, you’d feel much better about yours. 2 in particular that I intend to finish this year are a cardigan I started 4 years ago and set aside (committing to 30 minutes a day and I’m on the button band/shawl collar) and a crochet afghan to fit our king size bed that I started 2 years ago (doing 2 squares a month). Your mystery confection is such a pretty color! I love that scrappy cowl too! I have that pattern but haven’t made it yet.
Not so much finishing more making for myself. An evening dress from a 1960's needlework magazine. Ive got the yarn bought and I will start it as soon as Easter projects (almost done) and grandson's birthday present is done
I need to make the binding for a quilt and sew it on! Enjoyed seeing your quilts and projects.😊
That was my hang up for the past two months. I finally got to work on them and finished binding three quilts relatively quickly. It just seems to be the starting it part that is my hang up. How about for you?
@@candyshoppeyarns well you have inspired me to get it started! I actually enjoy hand sewing binding, just need to make the scrappy binding! Thanks for the encouragement!
I have many items of a variety of projects that need to be completed. First though, I’d like to complete my shawl that I started years ago prior to being a more seasoned knitter. As soon as I locate the directions, I’m completing it! Where have I tucked them? It’s a mystery which most likely will lead to several more projects to complete, including organization. Your quilts are beautiful! Congratulations on your achievements. The bunny is my favorite. I will be thinking of you and your family as you prepare for the upcoming wedding. Enjoy….then relax! ❤
Your comment made me chuckle because you are so right, as I try to finish one thing, I often discover other things needing to be finished, and the list grows. Hopefully, you find your directions.
I am wanting to finish a shirt quilt from my late uncle for my aunt to have and cherish. He has not been gone a year, so my goal is to have it done by June!
What a kind and thoughtful gift that will be. Picturing her receiving it can be great motivation to finish. So sweet!
I want to finish my Bone Yard Shawl by Steven West, it is so fun.
I would like to finish the Wizarding Transportation Scarf. Started just before COVID time over our lives. I need to just work on it and not need it to be perfect.
That’s a good point; the need for perfect often gets in the of accomplishment. I have fallen into this trap before on numerous occasions.
Great episode! I love your bunny quilt so much! I recently finished an embroidered bunny seasonal quilt. I have a basket block quilt I started at least 10 years ago that needs quilting now...sigh...I am also cross stitching Patch It Up by Durene Jones from Cross Stitcher magazine. I love your style so much!!
I would really like to finish my Habitation Throw and Northeasterly Blanket this year! They've both been on my needles for far too long and I need to finish them this year!
My plan this year is to finish or frog any WIPs lying around. I know there's a sweater I started (in basketweave pattern, I don't know what on earth I was thinking) that needs to be frogged, there are two scarves (four scarves, in looking at my Rav projects). OOOH looking at my Rav list, the basketweave sweater was a test knit I didn't finish, and that's why I only test-knit accessories now. I honestly thought I had more WIPs lying around, but apparently not! I have finished quite a few this year already. I also have two sweaters to knit for my niblings (my nephew and two nieces). The youngest already has her sweater. Their Nana died last year, and I inherited all her yarn. I decided to make each of them a sweater from Nana's yarn. So those need to be knitted this year.
I would like to be able to detangle the hand dyed wool that I messed up knitting the Tegna by Caitlin Hunter. I held two strands of wool because it was too thin a wool for me to knit with. The Tegna is knitted bottom up. You can imagine the nightmare it is to frog and ball up the wool by myself. So I time it out for over three years already. I was a newbie sweater knitter. I knitted 18 rows before I messed and fix the lace. I was so bummed about it. I left it on time out. It was an expensive wool gift from my daughter in-law.
So, I want to be able to tackle that project. It is my only aging WIP! I have knitted a few sweaters since that epic fail. I hope I will be able to detangle and save the wool for the Tegna or something else!
Wishing you daughter will have an amazing and memorable wedding ceremony! Take good care, Debra!
What fabulous quilts!! ❤❤❤
I want to finish my Straw Cardigan by Joji this year. I started it last year and it is lovely but I need to finish it 😅
I have an Irish Chain pattern quilt cut out in batik fabrics I want to finish for my bed. I am trying out a different background color other than the traditional white...hoping it will make all the scrappy batik colors pop!
I have a Hexie quilt
on the go. Oh my gosh what was I thinking
I started a EPP hexie quilt once. I never made it past doll quilt size before I decided to let that one go. I applaud you for continuing on and I hope to see your finished quilt!
I have 2 quilts that just need binding. I’d like to finish those and finish organizing my craft area.
A freshly cleaned and organized creative space is so inviting! You can do it!
I want to finish the Stockholm Slipover, which I started last year
I started the Newspaper sweater by Joji that I want to finish. So much brioche.
Oooh, I like that one! But, yes, a lot of brioche.
I’ve been working on a mohair Oslo hat since last September…. I’m really hoping I can finish it soon!
That is on my wish list of items I want to make. So dreamy.
I would like to finish my Stephen West 2022 twists and turns mkal and the Mochi Sweater that I cast on a year ago! 💕🌸🌷
For 2023 I am trying to get all the pairs of socks that I have started and finished the first but not the second one. I know the hubby would like to finish the chicken run this year. With a baby coming in May things might be a bit crazy.
Great plans. You can do it!
I need to finish a basic sleeveless tank with linen I bought 8 years ago
Are you sewing or knitting it with linen? I do love linen for summer so it sounds fabulous.
@@candyshoppeyarns it is a pure linen fingering weight yarn it’s quite hard on the hands so I need to take breaks from it
#finishit2023 I am late to the game, but am working on (and hoping to finish) my Vertices Unite shawl by Stephen West. I am using all bright/neon colors with black as the accents. I've included a skein of Candy Shoppe Yarns Liquid candy in the color way "Aloha".
I want to finish a knitted blanket with squares made from the Build a Block book by Michelle Hunter.
Are you close to finishing? Either way, you can do it!
Love your quilts so pretty. I am a monogamous knitter i hate having something not finished i think its a how long will it take to make syndrome i guess you can call it. I am working on a sock for an order BUT i made a sweater last fall it turned out too big i machine washed it since it was super-wash and oh boy it shrunk it too me 12 hrs. to frog it but i will be re-knitting that yarn back up into another top/sweater but i am a one project knitter. Glad you got the mic working it sounds great.
Thanks for the feedback on the microphone. 12 hours just to rip out a sweater? Ouch! 😢
I want to finish the Building in Color blanket. It only needs borders.
Even though borders can take a while to finish, it is still doable. You got this!
Debra I please tell me you have a ball winder? I’ve tried the from one ball that you mentioned and it was a nightmare😳. So two small balls works awesome for me ❤️
Definitely, I do have a ball winder and it is a life saver!
Socks. Second socks. I have about 6 singles.
