    Officials have been terrible ALL year!!!

    He was actually pulling on the front and back of his jersey at the same time all throughout the play. He would have easily been in position to make that catch if the defense didn’t interfere.

    Re: “It would’ve only given Nebraska a 1st down”
    - Only if Banks didn’t go up and high-point it like he was trying to do before the PI. Without that PI, he gets to the ball first and #21’s eyes/hands are now out of position to knock it away cuz his eyes were set on the ball.
    I disagree with that sentiment. It was a well-placed ball away from the defender. Banks was coming back to high-point it with plenty of space to make the catch. And we’ve made 2-pt conversions easily this year. So I wouldn’t argue that either

      Also it’s in the end zone. It’s a first down at the 3, with a free untimed down if it’s called. They don’t end games there and PI’s went back to be a spot foul again. Definitely would of had a shot

    They have got to come up with some consistent interference rules pertaining to jump balls. This passing tactic is becoming half the pass attempts. My opinion is that once the ball is in the air, no contact between players should be allowed until the ball is touched. The rules now are allowing a battle to get to the ball.

    As a SC fan new to the Big 10 I have noticed Big Ten officials don’t like to call a lot of plays. I see a lot of holding never called. I saw one play overturned with no proof but the official thought it was OK. Don’t think much a big 12 officials.

    • @jeffjeffy3534

      It is crazy across the board. No holdings particularly for the top three programs and replays where they somehow whiff with obvious and clear evidence to the contrary. It’s maddening.

    I really hope there's a lawsuit or some grievance filed against the B1G by Nebraska due to these refs skewing games toward our opponents over the past 10 years. There's DOZENS of times that the refs just blatantly screwed us. And all they do is come out and say "eh we fucked up we'll be better next time." Besides demoting the crew to a G5 or FCS or D2 school what more can we do to hold officials accountable to make fair calls. We have instant replay for a reason. I'm not saying review each and every play but when it's a play that can determine the difference in scores that should be reviewed each and every time.

    Shame on Nebraska's coach for not defending his team for the bad call or calls. Ruhle should have challenged the first down call against UCLA to. Rule needs to get some balls and start sticking up for his team when it counted.

    The receiver had his hand is the chest of the defender attempting to push off. The defender didn't allow him to and they were both playing the ball. Good no call. NO PI's all game? Not the time to call one especially when they are both playing the ball.

    I am beginning to suspect that the officiating is rigged, or that they need to do a wholesale overhaul of Big10 officials. It feels like we are fighting the referees as well as the opposing team. This is the worst I can ever remember. Last year was filled with disappointments, but I don’t remember penalties and non-calls being an issue like this year.

    • @Mothball556
      @Mothball556 Місяць тому +1

      The biggest problem is " Big10 officials" or " SEC officials". The entire system of officiating in college football needs to be completely overhauled and the new system needs to be an NFL like model.

    • @jayurban8282

    • @digger11000
      @digger11000 Місяць тому

      @Mothball556 It has to start at the youth level. 70% of new officials or more quit due to abuse after 2 to 3 years. This has contributed to poor officiating in the high school and college ranks. There just isn't alot to chose from. Finally, the average age of an official is 52.

    What angers me is the inconsistency from game to game because "that's the way their calling it today". Why is it okay for the refs to decide they feel like calling pass interference differently from from week to week? Why is it okay for refs to throw flags on ticky tack hand fighting three weeks ago, but keep their flag in their pocket on a play like this? To be fair to these refs pass interference is also a big problem in the NFL.
    I think college football and the NFL need to consider adopting the UFL's "super challenge" where each team gets one challenge to review any penalty flag that is thrown or any no call. This would provide a mechanism to correct the worst calls without having to review every penalty flag that is thrown.

    When no calls obviously benefit a home team,,needing desperately to win its just too obvious! The Ga/Tenn game,,,video replay early showed 5 penalties, or no calls that all went Georgia's way,,,fans throw trash on field during Ga/Tex game on a non review able penalty, and refs wave it off,,,,,teams are being heavily criticized for faking injuries, and being suspended or fined etc.but horrible officiating,,blatant missed calls that affect the outcome and there's no inquiry, no punishment, nothing other than " sorry,we missed it"!!????

  • @phillipsprague3275
    @phillipsprague3275 28 днів тому

    I’m a Husker fan….and if you watch back thru a lot of the games, there’s hardly any offensive holding calls! Why is that? I’ve seen so much holding on the offense that’s not called it’s ridiculous! You watch the line in any college game and the amount of non-calls for holding is crazy! There were at least three drives by USC that on third downs there was blatant holding even my wife was saying the D was being held! I’m sorry but when the Offensive lineman is hanging on to your jersey as you are powering past him that has to be called! For whatever reason this no call or made up call crap has been an issue since the early 90’s! I almost can’t watch the games anymore because the officiating has deteriorated so drastically! I watched the Georgia vs Alabama game and it was a lot of the same against Georgia!

    Unfortunately, PI is the most interpretive call in football. What occurred on this play occurs on every play where there is contact between the receiver and the defender. The bigger issue in all sports is “situational” calls. What may have been pass interference at another point in the game or in a different place on the field, is seen differently because it’s the last play of the game and it’s in the endzone.🤔

  • @davidr-c8s
    @davidr-c8s Місяць тому

    The reason DPI wasn't called isn't some grand conspiracy against Nebraska, it was because the NE receiver initiated contact with the DB (#17) by putting both hands on him and trying to push him off to get room to get back to the ball. The DB wisely grabbed some jersey so he didn't get pushed back too far. #21 for USC was going to make the interception regardless. He was tracking the ball the entire time it was in the air and had perfect position. Yes, the refs suck, but for both sides, and it isn't the reason you lose games. You will beat Wisconsin or Iowa, or both, and get to the Obscure Bowl anyway, and then all the "We're back!" BS will start again.

    Im soooo fucking sick of hearing this "bang bang" bullshit, if they cant get the call right, then get out of the job. We really need to have press conferences with the refs after the games. Nebraska has done something to piss of the BIG 10, but dont worry the refs will appologize for missing 15+ calls in that game.. 5-7 forever.

    I'm pretty much sick of watching WR's initiate contact which Banks did by extending his right arm and then whining about PI. What Banks did is illegal as well but nobody is crying about that. Officials have been dragging offenses down the field for years with ridiculous PI calls on what are generally poor throws all the while ignoring the WR is generally the guy initiating contact by trying to push off.

      The stupid personal fouls and other 15 yard penalties were just that: stupid, avoidable penalties, that were earned and showed a lack of discipline. Arguing that those legitimate calls means it is fair that a DPI was not called is nonsense.
