- At the start of our overlanding trip from Belgium to South Africa we cross from Hungary to Serbia where we make 3 short but cool stops:
Visiting a friend in Novi Sad, the second biggest city of the country, and enjoying some summer city days
Wild camping in Tara National Park with a visit to the highest and the most beautiful viewpoint
Getting totally blown away by the beauty of Uvac Canyon and its meanders. This must be the best view in Serbia!
We only got a taste of Serbia, but would love to come back to see more.
But first we had to keep on moving. It took us 2 attempts to cross into Montenegro! Watch the video to find out why we got refused the first time.

Ooh we're very eager to discover Serbia! This video makes us even more curious. We drove fast by it in 2020, wanted to spent the winter in Greece, only landborder that was open, was the one with Bulgaria (because of Covid) so we drove fast through Serbia, because we didn't want to get stuck there durning winter 😅
We only saw some highlights but they were WOW! We'll definitely pay it a longer visit next time.
DOnt trust google maps in Serbia and Montenegro or you will have troubles ,use some better navigation like Tom Tom,reason is there is many small mountain roads which are used by villagers and google does not distinguish them from mayor roads.
Google maps are now much better then 3-4 years ago (then would even send you to walking paths) but still far from good for navigation
Yes it can be tricky sometimes 😁. We use Google and Organic Maps (offline) combined with common sense. So far so good 👍 (it already got us from Belgium to Turkey).
