The book "On Killing" goes into the psychological barriers that go into play when humans kill each other and one of the things that makes people more likely to kill is distance either physical or mechanical (like a screen or an optic). Same as the guy with the paintball gun, it's easier psychologically to pull that trigger when it seems removed from reality. It's a very interesting book that can both make you really shocked at the things that can make people more likely to kill and hopeful that it really is pretty difficult for most people to actually kill another person.

    Exposure therapy
Typically reserved for people with allergies. A person will expose themselves to small amounts of what they're allergic to build up resistance and immunity.
But also works very well for facing your fears.

You should stay away from political stuff. All great performers old and new understand that if you go down that road you will literally cut your fan base in half. I really enjoy your material, both musically, and educational. But sometimes in the past you have ranted on political or coronavirus stuff, and it really turns me (and others) off from listening.
    Just my constructive criticism.

I get your point but I feel like that’s more on the people who leave because they don’t see eye to eye. You can’t cater what you say to an audience otherwise you won’t be true to yourself, and people will recognize that too. Look at Joe Rogan. He says whatever he wants and people appreciate him for that, also why he’s literally leaving UA-cam for Spotify because they won’t censor him.

Hey Erik, I respectfully disagree. :) Before the internet and our modern over-fearful mindset, musicians used to be much more involved in (and therefore helpful to) enacting all kinds of change, whether personal, social, or political. "All great performers"? Remember, at one point in time popular music used to be mostly protest music (Bob Dylan's Nobel Prize is about more than good songwriting). I think if the conversation is meant to go there, it should. Keeping it warm and fluffy doesn't seem to have done us any favors socially or politically in the last chunk of history... Seems time for all the hard convos. Isn't that what art's supposed to do anyways? Make us think and feel... change us... hopefully for the better?
