Here is my issue with premium and plus; We are on a 33 day cruise in the South Pacific. If we purchased a plus package for the both of us it would cost us nearly $4000 which is a hefty expense. I think there should be a cap on the longer Cruises .
I totally agree. At least lower the per-day price to make it more affordable. Now that they have raised the prices again, it’s going to make it even more expensive.
We went on our first Princess cruise in April this year and purchased the Premier. The prizes only work for you once per day while not in port, when opening your door, and I actually won a 7 day cruise with balcony cabin! So, to me, Premier is definitely worth it. 🎉😁
My wife and I always book the premier. I know it costs more, but i like the specialty dining credits and the peace of mind not worring about onboard spend, unless I can't keep my wife out of the spa.
I was the grand princess prizes winner last year and won a cruise for 2 for 7 days! Honestly, I never win anything so that was probably everything I haven't won in my lifetime wrapped into one!
That’s awesome, congratulations! That would be amazing to win something like that. I’m going to keep trying. Maybe one day I’ll win something or wear my stateroom door out trying. 😆
Thank you very much! Your video helped me a lot, i was debating buy or not the package, with your information, i am strongly and confident to buy packages the plus, its suitable for us, thank you again.
We too are doing the 33 day south pacific cruise. I need to have wifi at $25 per day DOUBLE because there are two of us. For another $10 a day, we got the plus package. No brainer if you need wifi.
I purchased the Premiere plan...went on the app and made dining reservations. Got charged over $1000 for all the dinners. Called Princess they said you have to wait to get onboard which is different than the terms and conditions. Right now I have $1000 worth of charges that they say won't get refunded until I get onboard. This is HORSE SHIT!
When I had Plus on Sun and decided I wanted more devices on wifi I paid the extra 24.99 a day. Next trip I’ll get Premier instead for the extra $5 and have the other perks. More stretch classes, more dining options, the juice bar, and a seat in the theater would not be a bad thing.
@@valeriesalvatore5964 I already booked my cruise for 2026 and added Premier because the prices of everything will definitely go up. I can always cancel if I change my mind.
If you are sailing out of Australia gratuities are included in the cruise price. Because we Aussies don’t care for the gratuitous tipping like 🇺🇸 do, it is not in our culture. We tip when and if we have excellent service, not because we have to. Australian cruise industry knows this and as far as I know, it is included upfront, along with the port fees and taxes, therefore not in the Plus or Premier package. If you are sailing out of anywhere other than Australia best ask either Princess or your travel agent.
@@dmills7375 good to know 👍🏻 We travelled to the USA last year, found it was expected as the norm, even for poor service. So much so, we won’t be travelling there again, especially with the exchange rate.
Actually, the 18 percent is included in the plus and premier packages. It’s not included in the plus and premier drink package. They are two different options. The drink packs is include in the plus and premier package, so if someone buys just the drink package they are paying more and getting less benefits. Princess just changed these options not long ago and it can be confusing. I’m going to do another video soon explaining the differences between these.
I’m not aware of any packages that provide only dining. You would have to pay for those as you use them. If you plan on eating at those restaurants a lot, the Princess Premier may still be worth it even if you don’t drink.
Thank you very much. It was very helpful. I have a question? on another channel, they said if you get the Premier plus it is unlimited drinks and the premier is 15 drinks per day if you could tell me which is correct I appreciate it. Thank you very much.
Thanks! The terms and conditions for the Princess drink packages use to say that both packages have a 15 drink limit in a 24 hour period for alcoholic drinks. The newest update still says that on the Plus package, but they have removed that verbiage from the premier package. They don’t specifically say that it is unlimited, but they also don’t say it isn’t.
I have a question, does the Premier package include gratuities for room service or beverage service? I know it covers the standard $16/day/person, but I can't find info on whether I still need to tip for deliveries, room service, etc or is the 18% added in. I realize that I can always tip extra. Thanks! Great presentation!
Thanks! There are no extra charges for drinks or for the room service. They are both included in the package with all gratuities including the 18% drink gratuities. We typically tip a couple dollars for room service, but you don’t have to. Same goes for the bartenders, feel free to tip if you want, but it’s not required once you purchase one of the package.
@@take2-travelHi There, first time cruiser here…we option for premier, is the extra crew appreciation included when in dinner roo, and other eateries…..we will tip extra for our stewards, of course but just getting dinner, etc. I hope ewe don’t get surprised with more charges. :)
Yes, if you prepay for gratuities or even choose to pay them at the end of the cruise, those cover all your servers and waiters. There is no need to tip extra for any meals or food service unless you just want to. Safe travels.
There is supposed to be a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks per day for the drink packages. I have never had them cut me off, but I have never counted to see if I have been over the limit. So, you can at least have 15 cocktails per day.
I was on a cruise with soMe friends who had the old drink package. By the end of the evening they were asking US what we wanted to drink? And they were definitely not teetotalers. lol 15 drinks is a LOT of alcohol. 😀
I won $250 on a 7 day cruise. I believe it only works one time per day that the door is opened so you can cycle your door as many times as you want but it won’t increase your chances of winning. Also, i am told that it doesn’t work in port.
If you go by the terms and conditions they don't allow you to share it. However, I have found that when on the cruise they tend to be more lenient. I know this isn't much help, but I would say maybe. You would just have to ask when you get onboard and see if they would allow you to gift them to your wife. Safe Travels
The gratuities are not included in the Plus and Premier drink package, but are included in the Plus and Premier packages. They made it a bit confusing. I made a video explaining it, here is the link. Why You Should Never Buy The Princess Drink Package ua-cam.com/video/pblEwMKGRZE/v-deo.html You have the option to tip in cash if you prefer. If you'd like to adjust or remove the prepaid gratuities, you can do so at the ship's customer service desk.
If you’re doing the cruise plus land tour package do you still have to pay that premium or plus fee per day or do you only have to do it for the days you’ll be cruising? Can you choose to have it for only part of your cruise?
If you’re doing a cruise plus land tour package, you only need to buy the drink package for the cruise portion. However, for the cruise part, you must buy the drink package for every day you're onboard; they won’t let you purchase it for only a few days of the cruise.
The casual dining on Plus is a downgrade disguised as a perk. They went from it being included in standard to charging for it, and then limiting Plus to 2 included meals no matter the length of the cruise, even though Plus is charged daily.
Agreed! The least they could have done is give you unlimited casual dining for the price of the package and unlimited speciality dining for the Premier. That would have made more sense.
Plus vs Premier should not evaluate Premier compared to neither package. I would evaluate the increased price versus the extra benefits (more casual dining, specialty dining, other things you might use like extra fitness classes, extra premium deserts, photo package, increased wifi, more expensive drinks like wine, heavy drinker over 15 drinks a day). Even only doing casual dining every other day and specialty dining every other day (now it is unlimited and the package difference is $30), the extra benefit is almost $30/day, anything else will push it over $30 and show benefit.
There is absolutely NO WAY that you are going to eat TWO monster desserts every night. I think that even one per night is a lot. You will return home looking like an Elephant.
I totally agree. However, they also include things like their milkshakes and similar items in that list as desserts, so I guess you could spread it out a little. You might still come home looking like an Elephant though.
I know I won’t be using the gym classes, nor will I eat two specialty desserts a day. There are sweets in the buffet. So using his math, so that’s $208 right there I won’t be using. They’re making it complicated.
I don’t like being forced to pay a gratuity. A gratuity is, by definition, a result of being grateful for exceptional service. If I’m forced to pay it, it is just another fee. So they’re forcing me to be grateful. Kinda stupid.
If you don’t feel the service you received warrants the gratuities charged, or if you think they’re undeserved, you can visit customer service to have them removed.
Both packages like MANY cruise lines are way overpriced! My wife and I are not alcoholics. If you are alcoholics then these packages make complete sense. If you are addicted to staying plugged into the internet then you need these packages. I can’t imagine paying $120 per day as a couple or a ridiculous $180 per day as a couple for what’s being offered. 7 day cruise an extra $840 or $1260 added on top of a cruise. Wow! Ridiculous!

It would be nice to be able to purchase premiere for a few days on the cruise, we must both buy all days
I agree! They would probably sell more if you could purchase it by the day instead of the entire trip.

Premier is $30 more than Plus per day. Plus must be added to the second guest. It's mandatory if you want to get it the other person must get it.
What I think is funny is... unlimited deserts. Who on earth wants to eat more than one of those GIGANTIC sugar bombs per day?????
