Preparations needed for this upgrade are very simple all you need to do is to check the RAM specifications of your Laptop using the CPUZ software and make sure your windows is updated. Once done you can start the process. You can install the new SSD in CD drive caddy as well if you wish but in some laptops the CD Drive SATA port is of slow speed so it does not work at full performance so we installed in the original HDD position.
For RAM just push the hinges outside and RAM will POP open and then you can install the new RAM into the SLOT keeping the notch aligned. once done then you can install the OLD HDD into the drive caddy and slide it inside as the CD drive.
All 3 words done then you can use the NOVO switch (just push it for a second using a pen or sim tool and you will enter the BIOS menu) here you will see the newly installed ACER SA 100 SSD and also the system will show you ram as 8GB. Now you can do 2 things a fresh OS install into the Acer SSD or close a OS from your OLD HDD which is already in the system using cloning software like Macrium reflect or the easus.

This is such a nostalgic thing for me. This laptop gave me many good memories of playing games like Halo, stanley's parable, need for speed 2012, assassins creed 3,4 and rogue, telltale games. I was 15 back when my dad bought it for some office work of course, I didn't let him do anything on it. My cousin installed steam for me on it. Although it was a potato through and through, I took every last drop of fps that intel hd 4400 could muster up. It started my passion for gaming. Although I now have a maybe 20 times more powerful pc now, it just isn't the same anymore.

Great video thanks! I have a Lenovo G50-80 currently running windows 10. If I replace the hard drive, would you suggest installing windows 11 or just clone what I have? I just ordered memory Capacity: 16GB (2 x 8GB), Speed: DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800), CAS Latency: 9.
Windows 11 will work if your processor is 8th gen or beyond. If yes then install windows 11 only but if not stick to windows 10, you can clone it if you are not having any virus issues.

I don't know, but why you don't want to update the bios. It is very difficult without updating bios until n unless u r a coder and ca. Write bios code

you need to go into windows create & format disk partition , then there u need to initialize it then it will show

Bro that's what I told you in this video ..your ram is enough just get an 500gb SSD and install fresh os in it. Your laptop will boot in under 1 min
I have original windows 10 (with digital licence) installed in my Lenovo G50-80. When i remove HDD and install new SSD will i have to reinstall the windows 10? And how will w10 be activated?
Windows license is free these days.. so don't worry. If you really want to keep it you can install SSD. clone the hdd to your SSD. Using hdd as external hardisk using adapter. Or you can install SSD in cd drive caddy and then can easily clone from hdd using macrium reflect

If you old hdd has it will have , if not it will not.
Im not from computer background,so can you tell why u replaced hard drive with ssd and hardrive in cd rom.
SSD are much faster up to 10 times than hdd so programs load faster, laptop boots faster. CD drives are not used these days so they are swapped with cd drive bays

yes there is no 90mm caddy, 9.5mm caddy link is provided below in the video description which is applicable for this laptop
I have lenovo G50 with 2+2 GB RAM configuration. So what should I do? 4+4 gb ram upgrade in two slot or one 8 gb ram upgrade in one slot ?
you can just buy one 8Gb and replace it with one 2gb ram one... it wil save you money as well and you will have 10Gb RAM , yes you can run 2 + 8gb config without any issue

its plug and play just add the ram to the second slot, just make sure you buy ram as exact same specification as your existing ram

No problem , you will have a laptop with 12gb ram with good performance.. make sure the ram speed is same that's it

Adding another 8gig will make ur laptop way faster than before so have that 16 gb
16gb dual channel 800mhz is better than 8gig 1channel 1600mhz bcuz it will run at 800mhz only

May be your ram is not installed properly or of not the right specification, have you installed the OS in the SSD? And boot settings not right

Yes you can buy additional ram and run in du channel just make sure you have that 8gb ram single slot.. may be is 4 plus 4... If that's the case then you will have to get 2 8gigs ram sticks. Cloning is simple easy and preferred option if your existing os is running fine and has no virus issues. Otherwise do a fresh install. I really don't know, why didn't you order the same as you existing one. You can try though. If the laptop boots and works fine .. your luck and if blue screen comes then bad luck
my g50-80 have 4 gb ram. how much cost to pay for 4gb extra ram and 128 or 256 gb ssd?
4gb ram will cost less than 1500 and 128gb will cost 17 1800.. get a 250gb i would suggest that will cost max 2500... And enjoy fast speeds buying links are in description.. they will cost you same but i will get some commission thanks in advance

It's not required. Ts just in case u don't use CD drive which mostly don't now a days. U will have more storage in that case. Old hdd for data in CD drive slot and SSD with os in the hdd drive slot

As far as I know tpm module is soldered to the motherbaord itself so cannot do that

No you can't as it is soldered to the motherboard, you can change the ram hardisk and battery but not the processir
@@light_sky thank you mate. I ended up finding a hardware manual of that motherboard and noticed the processor literaly glued (soldered) to it.
It is worthless to upgrade your RAM ,it will be always locked 800mz because lenovo has locked ram to 800mz in the bios. In order to unlock 1600mz frequency you have first have to unlock advance option and turn on XMP in bios settings and advance option can be unlocked through secret keyboard keys.
Hi aryan, I dont know about this. but why will intel lock it when processor can support that speed. Anyways there was huge difference on performance after the upgrade. I mean right now if you upgrade ram from 4 to 8 in any laptop regardless of what settings BIOS have the speed and multi tasking differences are huge.

Do you even know what ddr means in the first place? It's double data rate which means the 800 MHz you saw in cpuz is running at double the rate speed like a dual channel system . So 800mhz × 2 = 1600mhz. So his new ram speed along with the old stock one will both run at 1600mhz so there is no problem in that .
Unless you buy a ram which has lower clock speeds than your stock ram . For eg. if you already have a 1600mhz 4 GB kit and you install a similar kit but with rate speed only upto 1333mhz , then both ram speeds will only run at 1333mhz because your previous ram will drop down its speed to 1333mhz as multiple ram with different rate speeds can't run at the same time .

Actually it depends on rated speeds and samsung rams are generally built for laptops and there are also samsung clones
I would say go with the best rated speed and value for money obviously choose the correct ddr option too

I watched my video again just to check, no you cannot install any m.2 as there is no port for m.2 SSD only sata 2.5inch SSD is supported. If you want to double check go to crucial website and scan

Windows 10 .. I don't think it supports windows 11. It might support if you have 8th gen or later processor. If you have earlier gen then stick to windows 10 only

Yes it will run it's just that the processor will never be able to utilise more than 16gb of ram.
Not really!! If capable the processor will handle and match perfectly,the ram sticks have to be exact voltage and parameters if dual channeled...
Just when the model have been made the modern ram sticks max was 8gb,and thats why they give it 16gb max at the manual
Solution - 2x16GB kit on the both channels - working perfectly thank me later ( just to mention they'd probably cost more than the laptop alone in price )
Second variant is just 1x 32gb stick of ram but that does lower the performance if dual channeled
