    Thank You Brian for this excellent lesson. I am a 45 year old grad student trying to get my teaching license and this was by far the best examples to solve these types of Alebra problems. I stayed focused and patient and feel more comfortable to solve these kinds of problems. Thank You again Sir.

    Not only are you saving me in my math class (my teacher does not lecture, only gives assignments with due dates and we have to figure it out) so thank you for that but I also must comment on ypur patience with those kids. I know I would not have the patience to do what you do and answer all of the questions that are common sense questions but they are only kids and don't realize it. You are a great teacher not only to those kids in your class but also to all of us at home. Idk what I would do without your channel! Thank you!!!

    Simply multiply second equation by 2 , we get 4X - 2 Y= 18. Add fist equation to it. We get 3X+4X=7X and on other side 10+18=28. Hence 7X=28 and X=4. Hence work out Y as 3X+y=10. So 12+Y= 10 . Hence Y= - 1. pSD.

    i have a question: i got the correct answer only instead at the beginning my y said “-y=2x-9” because i did -2x which left me with the -y...does that really make a difference to problems like these?

    • @CasaErwin
      @CasaErwin 5 років тому

      When you do -2x you have to do it to both sides making it -y = -2x + 9, then multiply BOTH SIDES by -1 and get y = 2x - 9. It looks like you only multiplied the right side by -1. Your solution would yield a final answer of x = 8, y = -7, while the correct solution was x = 4, y = -1.

    I've been watching a few of these math videos lately and I notice something they all seem to have in common. The "instructor" tries to explain every little step in excruciating detail over and over again. I mean how many times do you need to say that 2 and 2/1 are equal or that being equal means they have the same value? It seems to me that any student who is far enough advanced to be studying systems of equations with two variables must know all that. Are the kids in these classes really so dense as to need these detailed explanations repeated so many times? Maybe so, because one of them always seems to question the explanation.
    After reading some of the other comments, I think I know the answer to my question.
