Hey David! Plans and videos came from Brian at Cape Falcon Kayaks. He has a few different types of boats so I recommend having a good read through his literature before deciding what you’ll build.
Thanks Matt. I've been studying the videos and plans far too long, and am getting ready to actually build one too. You're the first person other than Brian work from CFK plans/ideas. Thanks a bunch. You made a good video as well. Editing is super under-appreciated these days, but I'm a big fan of the hard work that makes good content. A few Q's: Have you made any longer paddling videos with the new boat? Did you have a lot of kayak experience before jumping into your F1? Also was your bending stock kiln-dried? Was there an "aha moment" or trick that help you improve your bending? Ribs look great. at your leisure. thanks.
Thanks for the kind comments Wade. I hope you are excited for your build. I had no boat building experience or kayaking experience prior to starting these boats. I found the videos from Brian much clearer to follow than the written plans. We have taken the boats out on some pretty big ocean swells, surf areas and an overnight trip recently with the cape falcon custom float bags that brian offers. I highly recommend these bags if you are planning on any overnight trips. Best of luck with the build.
@@mattthecarpenter1358 Yes, I'm way ready to jump into this, but will try to get all the bits and pieces in order before I do. I'm buying the coaming from from Brian, so I won't be breaking those bends this time. I'll probably bend up my second one, but want to get on the water as quickly asap with the first. I want to learn to roll and to get proficient at rolling as much as anything. My only kayak has been a SOT and it paddled like a log, and was far too heavy. I'll probably get bags too, and build a CFK canoe for taking my dogs out. Want to rig up a pair of his canoes for all they'll do, even the rowing.
@@wadepatton2433 Sounds awesome. In the video, all of the pieces that broke were Kiln Dried wood. I finally found a place that sells green oak and when I bent it, it was no problem. I had some splitting on my coamings, but used epoxy to fix and they work great.
Hey Enrica, it's a snap dragon back band. Cape Falcon recommends it because it is so simple, and I appreciate that there are no extra buckles and straps when getting in.
How good was that. I think those cape falcon boats are a work of art. Good job, well done.
I had a similar experience with bending the coaming. I am just getting ready to cut my tenons in deck beams. Great video and F1.
Very nice young man . Large undertaking but very nice results . Enjoy it and know your effort you both put into it . Well done !
Thanks Gord!
3 months later still fascinated by this. Which camera did you shoot this on btw
Hey Run, thanks for the comment :). Shot with my old canon 7d and I think that I just used a cheap 18-55mm lens
Very Nice job. Where did you get your plans? I would love to build a kayak.

Доброго времени суток! Подскажите как рассчитать нижние ребра? И размеры рамки в которую входят первые рейки. Спасибо!

What kind of seat and back rest did you use? Thanks
