To your chef: please ignore the critical comments about needing broth. While it is true Udon is often served with broth as a soup, pan fried udon is not uncommon as a street food. Soba is another delicious noodle that goes pan fried.

Yakiudon is definitely an acceptable and delicious way to serve it. And even if it were strange, Japanese people aren't robots - there are many people who enjoy foods and everything else in unconventional ways, just as elsewhere. For every Japanese person who strictly adheres to culinary tradition with every dish there's someone else who puts mayonnaise on it. Nothing wrong with that.

Kimonos are usually in the ¥150,000-250,000 range (US$1,100-1,830 at current exchange rates). $100 (roughly ¥13,600) would be absurdly cheap for a purchase, although a little expensive for a one-day rental.
