      Jake PK Rio , thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it. My conquests, struggles and mistakes are there to watch. All in all the Ranger has not let me down yet and so far I haven't needed to winch my way out of a situation or need recovering. It really is a capable vehicle but does has some weaknesses.

    • @jakerio8
      @jakerio8 6 років тому

      Michael Toomer Top weakness for you?

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому +2

      Jake PK Rio , if I had to pick its weaknesses i would say the long wheel base, Ranger has longest of the utes I’m pretty sure.
      The traction control allows a little to much wheel spin I think before it kicks in.
      I won’t mention that it’s IFS because all the modern utes are IFS so they all share that in common.

      Michael Toomer thnks for ur input. I dont mind the lwb bec it has more pros than cons for daily use. My top weakness for my 2014 is the absence of diff lock quite obviously. Other than that, i hope the Ford quality holds for the long run..

      @@michaeltoomer4090 sorry for the bother, does yours have just the traction control and no diff lock? Mine came stock with no diff locks. Only traction control. And if you've achieved the feats in your video without diff locks, I'd be confident in taking mine for off roading :D

    Hey mate, just curious what CB Antenna aswell as CB antenna mount you are running in this video? Do you get good penetration in this type of setting.
    Have my CB but deciding on an antenna at the moment. Not too interested in long range transmission. Just good medium/short range stuff. Wanting a 6db or 6.5db for a good middle of the road mark. I like the stubby, thick solid black look of yours.

    BEAST. I drive a TRD OFF ROAD Toyota Tacoma, it’s an amazing Truck, honestly though I think the most capable mid sized truck without any modifications is the Chevy zR2, it’s comes off the line with front and rear lockers, that’s what does it. All others just have rear lockers as far as I know. But Toyota is far more reliable :) and you can add front lockers.

    Hey Michael, I took my ranger after 2.5 yrs out in the otways the other week. I pulled my hair out after a few scratches lol. May I ask if you got paint protection? I wish I had the guts to do what you do. I'll just keep enjoying your vids while I build enough courage to get out on more tracks. Keep it up.

  • @alexshaykevich509

    Nicely done. Are those the stock 33's? Also, seems like a front diff locker would really add a lot of capability.

      83lurens , the flares are EGR color coded. Most of the major mods are listed in the description. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video as I had fun making it. 👍

      Mofera not at this stage. I don’t mind the platform setup. Not the most practical for space but is removeable and does the job for now

    Mate sick work on the track and truck. Hadn’t seen the rhino bars before actually considering that over a couple of recovery points and bull bar after seeing yours. How you finding it? Also just wondering what the step tray bars on the back of the ranger?
    I’ve been out a few times mates got me hooked on it so starting to get the Colorado bush bashing ready

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому

      Thanks mate I’m pretty happy with the truck at the moment. I chose the Rhino bar because I wanted to carry a winch and not have the Bullbar look. It does the job pretty good and gives me a good approach angle for rock crawling.
      On the back of the Ranger Iv got a small Rhinorack platform that carry’s my shovel and Maxtrax as well as my swag etc. if I was you I would definitely get the Colarodo setup. Can be costly but it’s worth it.

    With ARB frontier tanks i believe your fuel gauge is no longer usable? Your ranger is not body lifted right?

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому

      Lcr34 , my ranger is not body lifted. The fuel guage works fine. It uses the same sender unit from the old tank. You have to bend the float arm a little bit which is in the instructions.
      The fuel Distance to empty is incorrect afterwards as the tank size changed.
      You can change the tank size using FORSCAN and a OBD2 adapter.

  • @chrisblatherwick6569
    @chrisblatherwick6569 6 років тому

    Damn Michael you were not kidding about the mud! Those rocksliders really got a major workout on the truck, good work from the spotters and for you piloting the Ranger safely through the rock sesction. The tail lights on your rig, are they standard as you have reverse light on both the left and right side?

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому

      chris blatherwick the rock sliders are absolutely hammered. They need touching up after that rocky section.
      The longer wheelbase of the ranger made it more challenging to get over that hump and manoeuvre in tight spaces. The tail lights are standard with only the globes being changed to LED. Are the rangers different over your way?
      Glad you enjoyed the video.

    • @chrisblatherwick6569
      @chrisblatherwick6569 6 років тому

      Our Wildtrack's in South Africa only have a single reverse light with a fog light on the other side. Your LED in the taillight looks brilliant as its definitely on my upgrade list!! What make are the bulbs?

    • @Lcr34
      @Lcr34 6 років тому

      I can confirm that my Thailand made ranger also have same rear light configuration as chris.

    • @chrisblatherwick6569

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому

      chris blatherwick there just LED bulbs of eBay, nothing special really. Bit to bluish white for my liking but it is brighter than stock which helps when reversing.

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому +1

      Knife Gun Axe I’m running a 285/70r17 tyre on a 17x9 -12 offset rim. To be honest I wasn’t happy with the wheels and tyres due to bead issues so Iv since changed to a 305/70r16 on a 16x8 - 0 offset Wheel.

      Hi, greetings from Argentina. How does the engine work with those big wheels? The differential ratio is the stock? Thanks

    • @michaeltoomer4090
      @michaeltoomer4090  6 років тому +1

      Richard Yakfish, the diff gear ratio is stock. The engine is fine and still has plenty of low down torque with this size wheel
