South Asian moms forcing visitors to take food by having it ready ASAP is a running cultural gag 😂 loved how they pulled it off. Looking forward to the upcoming jokes!
I felt that joke not just in my asian heart but in my stomach as well.....
My parents used to visit my dad’s desi co-worker quite often. And yeah, that’s accurate. But hey, their cuisine is great, so I’m not complaining.
When I was in highschool I was friends with a turkish boy, and whenever I would be at his house, his mom ALWAYS tried to give me food to go :)
I was going to say the same exact thing! Right when I saw that, I chuckled a little bit 😂
More like, it's really a general Asian thing. Not to stereotype, but I'm an Asian myself lmao.
7:25 - “I get a little nervous with multiple Ks back to back but we’ll look past that” made me spit out my water 😭😂😂
Kamala's mom packing the food in little to no time is actually a cultural gag. Many, if not all south asian moms have this superpower 🤣
And yet We never figured out how they do it
Racist AF
@@rydz656 Bruh what's racist in that?
@@rydz656 lmao, "racist"?!
@@rydz656 Please look up the word racist.
Considering Rocket and Nebula were the only members of GotG who spent much time on earth after the snap, I assume Rocket was the source for the Star Boy doc, which makes me want to see it even more
"Star Munch story" lol
I really wish Marvel would make that movie! Hell, they could probably get UA-camrs to make it on shoestring budgets! I'd also love to see "Snap" and the entire "Rogers: The Musical"!
I would watch that.
Drax and Mantis first time on earth was in Avengers Endgame, and they were seen again in Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Drax and Mantis were walking around the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the TLC Chinese Theatre. There is a moment Drax stopped and looked at Santa Clause
I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait for the rest of the episodes.
Beautiful series. Iman is adorable and the dad hulk scene just broke my heart.
fr that one was so sadddd
It was wasn’t it.
Welcome to the world of south asian fathers 😂
same i felt so bad for the dad
WOKE TRASH
🧔🏿♀️🧕🏾
The suggestion that there's this power that was passed down from the grandma, then the mom, who rejected it, then to the daughter. And the mom is the strict one, while the dad is chill, more permissive, and willing to go along with what the daughter is into reminds me of the dynamic in Turning Red.
Yep
It’s the formula we’ve been seeing for A LOT of Asian families in media recently. Another one that did this was Everything Every All At Once. It’s a very real dynamic, if a bit stereotypical. As a Muslim asian American, dads do tend to be more lax than the moms, but they can be strict too. It is usually true tho that mom is the strict one 😂
@@angrypvz1236 haha, yes, and in these instances the formula is working, so I'm all for it. Also, I totally identify with that Asian dad.
kinda gives me juniper lee vibes
Everyone who's seen "Turning Red" will recognize the storyline....
I don’t think they were called photon gloves because of Monica Rambeau… they’re called photon gloves because Captain Marvel’s powers are called “photon blasts”
the name Photon is capitalized in the closed captioning though
@@charlotterepasky1675 it could just be because photon glove is a name for the gloves
@@qaishhh2659 Then the G would be capitalized as well
yeah, NR is just grasping at straws ... Sad.
@@TheLumpyShield Maybe not, he never says he's right in any videos and although less likely, it's still a possibility.
I just love that they have shots with blinding lights and the fact that Kamala is triggered by being blinded by lights in Avengers con and we get more by that with the intro. That belongs in the S tier and is a beautiful wedding of two things, one of the best The Weekend bangers and Marvel
2:47
Surprised you didn't mention this was likely a Superman reference. First showing us a Bird, then a Plane, then Captain Marvel, obviously referencing the classic quote "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman!"
Considering Carol Danvers was very clearly based on Kara Danvers, that wouldn't be surprising.
Dang, beat me to it
Ehhhhhhh
Carol and Kara could be distant relatives!🤣🤣💀
OR, that bird is a reference to Ms Marvel villain Birdman which is a clone of Thomas Edison. We'll never know until Season 2.
I would absolutely love an in universe documentary that took itself 100% seriously come out to Disney Plus
Actually.... yes... would love it. Would like to see hand held camera footage of some of the battles
Like the vought videos by Amazon prime
That would be cool
I would watch the hell out of that
Why not?
The Scott Pilgrim vibe is great and makes it such a fun watch
Oh my gosh yes! I was trying to figure out what the episode made me think of lmao
Same!
My thoughts exactly i loved it
I hope Edgar Wright grinned a little.
It's goes even back to his Channel 4 sitcom Spaced.
The father says to Kamala "you're not normal" after which the parents share a look.
They know Kamala has special powers or atleast the potential for them but they want to keep it a secret
your right!
Good catch
Interesting thought
honestly wasn't excited for this series but episode one got my hopes high for this.
Imma go rogue right now and say that the armband Kamala wears is somehow connected to Shang Chi's 10 rings. There's graffiti in one scene that shows an arm and 5 rings, and it being a family heirloom makes me think that it came down from space when the rings came down and they scattered over Asia.
21:36 that skyscraper is a recently made building that exists in NYC. It’s so cool cause it’s the real life avengers tower.
Its call The Edge building. Was looking for thos comment :)
Definitely the Edge observation deck @ Hudson Yards in NYC. Agree w everyone above. Very cool.
One of the judges for the cosplay competition was Riki “Riddle” Lecotey a well known cosplayer who has worked on several MCU films.
Omg that was riddle
And if Iman Vellani is actually watching this video, hi Iman! You did awesome! Can’t wait to see the rest of the series!
Ms Marvel should only be white
Ur lying marvel missed with this one

Imo Iman did amazing but coming of age shows just aren’t for me
This was so well done!! The actress Imani Vellani is adorable and is perfect for this role!!
To have the MCU coming from the eyes and thoughts of a teenager is brilliant and I can't wait for the next episode!! 💯💯💯💯
It’s honestly better than expected
I love all the background art design in the episode. Huge Scott Pilgrim vs the World vibes
Interesting thing about the Camp Lehigh sign I hadn't noticed before is that one of the symbols is Military Intelligence, which is a dagger hidden behind a flower.
Regarding that fridge in the "things hulk smashed" area, I took this as a nod to the Stan Lee cameo in Incredible Hulk, where he drinks the soda contaminated with Banner's blood. I like to think he hulked out immediately after drinking it, and pressed his hand through the door.
I absolutely loved this episode. As an Asian teenager growing up immersed in a western culture, this is so relatable

Hey Erik! I just wanted to say that I did a presentation for school on Easter Eggs in the MCU, and your videos were super useful for me. I rewatched the movies myself, but I also used your videos to understand the Easter eggs and explain them better. Thanks for making these!
One that you missed is that in the Avengercon scenes, you see Kamala playing on a big arcade game, which is a Hulk hammer smash game, which may be a reference to Marvel's Avengers (2020), as that is a game you play to get a comic in the opening for the game.
Good god that game is bleh
The way I immediately recited the before-meal prayer with Kamala’s brother 😭 I never feel so SEEN in the MCU lmao

People were really shitting on it just by watching it trailer and honestly the first episode was good

The building you saw and thought was Avengers tower is actually a building in Hudson Yards called the Edge. I think it may have appeared in the Hawkeye skyline view of Hudson Yards. It’s not really where the old Avengers tower would be.
Came here to say this.
I think that building was also in The Pentaverate
, it does look familiar haha

All the animations and narrations gave me a huge “The Mitchells vs. the Machines” vibe
YES! Plus other works that incorporate creative backdrops like Baby Driver, or 2D animations that represent on-screen thoughts and emotions like Heartstopper or Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The vibe is impeccable.
The Mitchells vs the Machines was directed by Lord and Miller, who also did Into the Spiderverse
YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!
Did anyone else think Avengercon seemed really small? I was also surprised they were allowed to use Camp Leheigh. It is only the first one but much more niche conventions are often a lot bigger.
Just like Hawkeye, pleasantly surprised by this series so far. Also, LOVE the love and recognition Voss and the NR gang are getting from Marvel Studios!!! 🙌🏽

I don't know if you mentioned this In the episode and I missed it, but I also noticed Zoes cosplay is similar to the actual Carol Danvers, Ms Marvel costume, jsut in the captain marvel colors. Thought that was a cool detail.
I believe the bird with Captain Marvel’s hair is actually a reference to one of Ms Marvel’s villains the Inventor with the bird looking like a cockatoo which happens to be the same bird that the Inventor resembles

True, same goes for Mitchells vs The Machines 🙂 i enjoy this style of filming quite alot and it works here REALLY well coz of Kamalas character
@@spudmatix8770 haven't seen Mitchells vs the Machines, but I totally agree on the style and how it fits with Kamala. There really needs to be more live action shows/movies like this stylistically
jeez it really is far from a marvel series
The drawing of the bird followed by the picture of the jet is a nod to “Is it a bird? Or is it a plane ?”
Also there is Nyan Cat’s rainbow trail following Danvers a little later
So this episode is off to a great start. I like how when the mom saw the bangle, there's an instant look of recognition. Little details like that make me excited for future episodes
Just loved it, fresh and buzzy with great characters and actors. Some of the pre-launch reviews said ‘series was basically for children’ I fully disagree, as a 50+ year old thought it was just brilliant and looking forward to next episode.

Finding out Iman is a actual super fan warmed my heart!
i love this channel so much, you have brought me so much enjoyment.
I’m betting the family has Kree ancestry that they attribute to Djinn. Traditionally djinn have blue skin, like Kree
During the opening youtube style video when Kamala introduces Captain Marvel the post it notes follow the familiar superman moniker "its a bird, its a plane". Pretty cool detail.
23:28 the bottom left is Jameela Jamil whos supposed to be in the mcu as an unknown character
In the back story montage there is a picture of a bird, then a picture of Carol Danvers fighter jet, and then a picture of captain marvel. This is probably comparing captain marvel to DC's superman and is a reference or a jab to the famous line, "It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's superman!" except instead of superman it's Captain Marvel.
@11:48 Djinn wearing gauntlets and belt with a red stone and matching red turban is awesome
They rebuilt the ‘camp Lehigh’ for the avengerscon as it kinda got nuked in winter soldier
Love Kamala’s fantasies with kamran throughout the episodes, I mean, I don’t understand it, but funny to watch 😂😂😂
Its not for me, but its beautifully shot, a razor sharp script delivered with skill and character. is such great thing to see the MCU doing something fresh and for a different audience.

The first episode of the Ms Marvel miniseries is easily a 9.7/10
'never knew a pakistani-based story could be this fascinating, after the Egyptian-based MoonKnight...
Fans expected less because of the trailers.
The Edison electronics sign might also be a reference to Thomas Edison who shows up as one of Kamala’s first villains and is also half parrot because comics
What?
Why did I just BUST out laughing when he said he “gets nervous when he sees multiple K’s back to back.”
I was genuinely not expecting much of this but i actually really enjoyed the first ep
I think Bruno's cosplay in the fantasy sequence is his look from Winter Soldier, when Bucky breaks out and he has to use that armored glove to stop the bullet from hitting him.
Kamala Khan gives out this "Kate Bishop" vibe it's cool
At 10:38 it's a purple flower and six rings. I just found that interesting with the importance of purple, a flower being delicate and the bangal.
Just watched Ms Marvel’s debut episode & its WKD ~ soooooo refreshing & cool.!!
By the way I’m 50, it’s not just for kids, it’s for everyone.!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The whole opening scene with drawings especially making when it makes it way throughout episode 1 gives me vibes from The Mitchells vs The Machines
The style is so fun and cozy, I really enjoyed this, much more than I expected
for the change from stretching to cosmic hard light I feel like it may be easier to make cosmic rough of hands and shapes rather than make even semi realistic looking stretchy skin. It just looks nicer and will probably date better since the energy isn't meant to look real it can get away with more.
I like how Bruno was dressed like Marty McFly when getting to AvengerCon and then he donned Doc Brown's crazy hair when taking one of the photos.
Another detail was the Groot shirt at the convention said “Mr. Tree” on it. I thought it was clever because no one other than the Guardians knew what his name was.
Steve Rogers did lol (He's gone I know, but I love that scene)

I really want Marvel to make an in-universe documentary. Like that Snap documentary. They need to make something like that to help explain how the public knows so much about the Avengers. They could even have Stark or Cap come back to film unseen archived interview clips.
I want this but I want a legit documentary filmmaker to make it.

My general reaction to the idea of having the MCU as 616 is best described by what Nick Fury once said.
"I recognise the council has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I've elected to ignore it."
Actually we could be using the things DC does where there are multiple multiverses, and it isn’t the MCU, but the MCMU (marvel cinematic multiverse)
Yah that is dumb ... 616 is and should stay as the actual comics. Pretty dumb they changed it. But they can change it back ... who sets these numbers anyway? They can change it back so it is the comics.

Damn..
I hope not. I really like him and I don't need him to be a villain, although there was a love interest of Kamala that turned out to be a villain. But also yeah I think the bird drawing might also be a nod to the inventor or maybe I'm looking too much into it

south asian moms will force you to take some food with you no matter what and they are pretty good, quick and persistent at it. this scene was so good
I love how no one has mentioned when Kamala said “No no no Bruno” in school when we first see him.
This shows screams the facts that the creators put all the love in this one.
Star boy dvd at the convention may also be a slight nod to the continuation and/or usage of the blinding lights Weeknd song at the beginning of the episode as he has a song called “Starboy”
It was very good first episode ... but best to leave your Marvel expectations at the door and come in to it fresh. I was skeptical about the stylized elements going in but came away quite happy.
No need to be skeptical or have high expectations. Just go into it enjoying it for what it is.
Anybody else notice the Wallows playing at the beginning of the episode? Loved the soundtrack for this episode!
Could the fridge with the Hulk handprint be a Stan Lee easter egg? It looks a lot like the fridge that held the soda with Ed Norton's blood from when it fell on the conveyor belt. I know it's a shot in the dark, but it would make sense that Stan drank the blood and had a Hulk moment, slamming into the fridge. Just a thought.
(13:20) Edison Electric could be a nod to The Inventor who is a clone of a Thomas Edison and a Captain Marvel villain. (Bruno gives me future villain vibes and he’s also an inventor 👀)
