Welcome to the 5th vlog of the MBK-1 journey where we will be sharing the full process from prototype to launch for our new mini bike, the MBK-1.
In this episode we finish building the swing arm for our full suspension mini bike, but we run into another issue when trying to mount the rear wheel. Will this problem cause further delays and will we need to push back the VIP presale?

You should CNC your business name somewhere on the frame or maybe just M T would look fine. I've been watching this & really enjoying the build so far & you definitely got the right guy helping with this build
Mount the brake caliper on the same sheet metal holding the rear wheel, simplifies the work and less material/complexity, and also won't damage on fall as it's further inside
That was one of the ideas we had but then we wouldn’t be able to mount the axle adjuster which goes at the front there. But we still might try that idea.
If the rest of the bike comes out as nice as the swing arm, you’ve got yourself a winner.

Right! I would have never known this is how it would be made but Tom is great and passionate about doing it the right way.
Look at putting the caliper mount on the axle. Any single speed mountain bike that I've ever had with sliding brake calipers was a pain to keep straight. Also, the spacers don't need that tight.
We are looking at all the options for the brake calliper and yes, we might just make the spacers shorter.

That would be really cool if you could put together a kit for people to weld together themselves even if it's by number
Yes, but you would need the fixtures to weld it all together correctly as you saw, it’s quite a complex process.

I think this a great bike and I really think it should come with an option of " PAINTED OR UNPAINTED " for custom paints (DIY) or powder Coating 🤷🏽♂️ just a thought I'm sure we the people or going to be customizing the colors....

I don’t feel the key hole slot is the way to go, on ever 200 series bikes I’ve never had spacers that fit super tight when the rear axle bolt is through, metal flexes I’ve made custom spacers for my rims on builds before, you can get allow spacers to fit loosely but when you tighten the rear axle bolt down it tightens on the spacers, motorcycles don’t have these problems as well, people have solutions for that problem! I definitely don’t think it’s a key hole slot! Personally I would feel a bit sketchy on one
Yeah, these are great point. The main issues is that the back of our swing arm is enclosed. Most motorcycles have plates at the back which make it easier to mount the wheel with the spacers.
We will try the key hole idea but if it doesn’t work we will move on to the next idea until we are confident it will work perfectly.
