Great video, I have one with fungus/haze in the rear lens assembly, it might be the separation you mentioned. Is it possible you can make the video on how to fix this ? you mention this at 6:08 minutes, I would be very grateful to see this video, thanks
Yes, I have 2 in the same situation as yours. It's some degradation of the glue in the rear doublet that creates some haze. I have all the items I need, now, I just need some time to actually make the video. Keep connected ! Cheers
Thank you! Exactly what I needed….. Nikon Canada wants something like $300 Canadian to clean my 20mm lens…. Can buy them clean and used for much less…..
300 dollars, nuts, you can buy one with fungus for 100, and use the remaining 200 to buy tools to fix it and eventually take your wife out for dinner 😊
Great video as always, very informative. A question: Could I swap the rear glass of this model with that of an AIS? I ask because I bought a cheap 20mm AIS, and the rear glass is heavily damaged. I've only been able to find parts from the AF-D, I was thinking of putting the rear glass from the AF-D on the AI. Thanks in advance
Hi, I don't know, one must check the optical schemes to see whether they are similar or the same. My gut feeling tell me they are but I may be wrong. Anyway, the rear block of the 20mm AFD is quite easy to remove, they Ais I don't know. Cheers.
need to clean my 20mm 1.8g I got cheap, fixed the AF now need to get to the elements. Front looks pretty similar but rear element ring needs a three prong spanner wrench and ring looks plastic, not the normal construction I like my all metal lenses F all this plastic stuff 😭.... Have u seen the back of the 1.8G?
Hello, no, I have not seen the back of the 1.8G, but I've seen others. People may call that what they want, for me it's cheap construction. I don't think the interior of most recent lens is any better. Sorry I can not help any further.
Thank you!
