Ravi Ji is a fantastic dhol player. His dhol sounds great. He's grooving like a monster and can play awesomely fast. All around, covering all bases, in my humble opinion.
@norekaps he is amazing no doubt, but I agree...but i think it comes from him being an all around percussionist..he translates a lot of tabla classical onto dhol and doesn't really play folk and thats where you think you don't hear the slow rhythms is because he is playing very fast and clear!
@vek701 good question bro....maybe years and years of many instruments experience and a lot of practice. They are all free all day in India so they are very fortunate to pracice all day!

this is just an opinion of mine, dont want to start any flaming or arguments - but as amazingly talented as he is, i think the fact hes playing all his tirkits fast as hell, hes losing the sweetness of the rhythm. instead of hearing a sweet sounding tirkit all im hearing is just a machine gun blastin a clip. id rather hear him playing those tirkits much slower than how hes playing now. but still, an amazing dholi
It's not just the speed. It's the clarity. Every single beat. Not a single one missed. Every hit consistent in weight. Absolutely amazing.
