I’m 63. And I know who I am and I like myself now. I love learning to do new things. It’s my me time. The kids are grown and my husband and I still have date nights and enjoy going places we haven’t been. Enjoy each season of life. Each one has it’s own reward.
Congratulations we're happy your living & enjoying this stage of life & together with the same partner. I've know several couples whose at this stage if life now realizes love wasn't wasn't the real reason they stayed together...
I don't have any streaming services, and I love my DVD collection. However about a decade ago I recycled all the cases and I keep them in a CD binder. So space friendly, and it's fun to flip through to pick a movie.
@@LeafLikeOnATreeMine both do DVDs. And don't even care if they don't have the cases if you don't have them. They take those obviously if you have them, but I had moved them to books to condense once upon a time. They just print out the DVD cover graphics.
I’ve been clearing out every room in my house. Toss out broken stuff and donate everything else. I’m so tired of having so much crap. I’m being very picky this time and very hard on myself to keep the pace. It’s finally starting to feel good again and feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. I have to do something every day. No matter what it is. Small or large but get a closet or drawer done. Something has to give lol. So far so good.
Shane from Middle Tennessee here. When I was young, I was always told that I was beautiful but I now I am obese and 69!!! But I can honestly say that I have never been happier!! We have a fantastic Retirement and Marriage. I have amazing friends and support system. I have Diabetes, joint issues..a recent knee replacement..etc But we started back to church several months ago and huge Blessing to us. We love to travel, go to many concerts snd events in Nashville. I go to Exercise class and hubs golfs 4 times a week. He is 5 years younger and I love it!! Lol So embrace life and your Faith!! Love you Shannon and enjoyed you for years. Take good care of yourself. You are precious! Your friend snd fan, Shane🎉
I'm so sorry you had a flare up in your illness - I know you are so exhausted when that illness is getting the upper hand - so thank you for putting out a video. I think you did an amazing job - you did so much - and tackled long-term cutter - and that's not easy. I love your rug - it's beautiful and suits your home - and I think it will wear well with the pups and kiddies - and I agree with you as to pups and kids being the important part of the home - the rug needs to fit in and keep itself relatively well to deserve a place for in your home. May I also say - your nails were gorgeous - I love the colour!
I’m 75 and am blessed for each year. We shouldn’t regret our birthdays. 🎉 The only time that gave me pause was when my Dad died at 90 and I realized I was now the oldest living member of my family. (Every parent, inlaw, aunt or uncle was gone. My Dad outlived three wives and two of his children.)
Hard-copy media like DVDs, blu-rays, and CDs I keep organized in zip-up cases. For whatever reason it was at first difficult for me to separate my love of a movie from the box it came in, but once I got over that weird little hurdle, it was so very nice curating and consolidating my movie/series collection into disc cases. It freed up a lot of space and, when taking something out to watch, I never feel at risk of breaking a disc (too many used to get stuck in poorly-made movie boxes). The zip-up cases also serve as my collecting limit; if there's no room, either I have to let go of something or admit to myself that I really don't need to add the newer prospect. Most of my favorite movies are oldies I already own anyway, so this system works well for me.
When you were cleaning out your basket of blankets and said "hanger" I heard "anger" (a basket full of anger) just made me laugh out loud....simple pleasures, I guess.
We are old school and have zero streaming services and only watch DVDs and VHS tapes. We have 2 DVD, VHS combo players. We do movie nights. I'm always looking for DVDs and VHS tapes at thrift stores. I'd buy what you don't want haha!
My husband had to live like that when he was younger and hated it. After every move we had to do DVD because of no WI-FI at the moment and it SUCKED. We have a huge drawer overfilling with VHS and dvds too and about to declutter a lot of it.
Aww Shannon I feel you on the windows!! They are last thing in my list especially the outside. I do often wipe the sills and once or twice a year windex the insides. You got this!
I have kept our DVD collection. My daughter has had fun watching some of my old favorites like “girls just wanna have fun” and “clueless”. I must like obscure movies because I can never find them on any of our streaming services or they want me to pay for them on top of the monthly fee. Plus there are never any ads on the DVD. 😊 45 was horrible for me. Physically it was like my body was falling apart. Had my gall bladder removed, planters fasciitis, runners knee, Posterior Vitreous Detachment, my hair is thinning, found out I’m anemic and had to get a routine colonoscopy. I feel super old. 😢 love your videos. Wishing you the best with your diagnosis and keeping you in my prayers. ❤
I’m sorry about your diagnosis. My daughter has several auto immune disorders that have been very detrimental to her health and energy at times. I’m praying for you. ❤🙏
Thank you for encouraging statements like "I'm glad you're here". I'm going thru challenging work time where I dont think they are glad I'm here because of my current skill set which I hope to grow. Anywho, I'm receiving that statement literally today to being on the planet and in the good fight with you. 😊
Also meant to say You are on our Prayer Lists. Please take care of Yourself and Your Family. No worries about us. Use your Energy to do what you can do and Dont be hard on yourself. You’ve got a lot on your plate. We Support You!! 🙏🙏🙏🍀🍀🍀😊💜
With my dvd's, I chose the ten movies I loved the most. In event of losing electricity, we can't watch them anyway. If we lose internet I have all my favorite movies. The kids could keep their favorite as well.
When you said about feeling like a normal person it just hit me hard. As someone with Crohn’s disease I have very little energy and chronic pain. I’ve had five surgeries but am still suffering daily. Now it includes back pain and especially joint pain. A few years back I was put on Prednisone. I had so much energy that I was painting my bathroom at 1:00 a.m.😂 I felt great and had energy. I actually was so emotional about it and asked my husband is this what feeling normal is like? If I was able to take it for life I would. Unfortunately it is for short term use only. I think it was between 4-6 weeks and that was it. I’m sorry that you’ve been diagnosed with this blood disease but if it can be controlled that is half the battle. Wishing you well.❤️🙏
Just a word of encouragement regarding leukemia. My son is in remission after chemo. But the good news is science is catching up. If he ever shows the marker again, there are now two drugs which he could take and never need chemo again.
I cannot believe that you just showed the SlipDr.!!🎉🎉🎉 They were my client when I worked in the advertising industry wayyyy back in 2003/2005👏🏻. That was AWESOME to see!!🤗
I saw a meme about why generations that grew up with owning movies find it so hard to get rid of them. It essentially said that we aren’t comfortable with the idea of not really “owning” our favourite movies and having to trust or piece together streaming services is weird for us, because we wouldn’t be able to own our faves! I thought it made a good point!
Girly, you are way too hard on yourself. Your home is cleaner than most homes of crazy busy families. Homeschool, family, etc. Take it easy, you are doing amazing!!! ❤❤❤❤
I was thinking the same exact thing. I’m new here and thought, that’s a lot of work, keeping up a house and taking care of children when you don’t feel well, and then she mentioned the homeschooling area, and I’m thinking WAIT,SHE HOMESCHOOLS TOO?!?!?!😳
I have lived in my double wide for 4 yrs. I have 10 windows. LOL I have only washed 2. They are in the bedroom. I pray that you get your health and energy. Back on track. Really enjoyed seeing your beautiful face. You are looking like you are loosing weight. Proud of you.
DVDs: I went through and checked which ones we could get at the library and made a list on my library account for easy reference (and was then able to part with them, no longer be housing them but still attainable for me should I want to watch them again). Beyond that, it's limited to a drawer in the tv stand, and we go through it regularly and purge/update. We each keep some favorites and hard to finds. We also are watching them weekly as our version of tv 😉 Resale seems tricky. What i can say is how much people enjoy finding them at thrift stores!
We got rid of all dvd’s, the dvd player, music cd’s, cd players, old laptops, all the cable channels and even the antenna hookup and watch UA-cam premium, (no commercials) for news, movies and pretty much everything. We also have iPads for both of us and it has simplified entertainment so much. And of course, if it’s on UA-cam it’s absolutely true, haha!
I’m 56 and I think my only tough birthday was 50 but that probably had more to do with the fact that it was my first birthday after losing my mama. My dad had passed 6 years before and it was tough knowing that I didn’t have any parents this side of heaven. Thank you for the video, Shannon. It was so good to see you. 💗
In March I turned 50. I still feel like I’m barely in my 40s. We were so busy with a funeral and family in town I didn’t really think much about it. Now, I’m like in limbo. I’m “old” but I don’t get any senior benefits or bonuses yet. 😆 My mom was like you gotta be at least 55 for discounts and stuff. Oh well, lol.
You're good on the window dust. My backyard is only dirt and we live in farming area in a very old 1900 house with crap sealing so the amount of dust that you got off your top half of one window would probably be one week of one whole window in my house. It's impossible to keep up with the dust for me here. I do the best I can and when I have the motivation to dust I do as much as I can so I feel better about it and know it's cleaner for at least a little while. Lol. I have tried to do cleaning plans and they never hold out for me. I've taken bits from each and kind of added them to what I have found to work for me. I do the best I can to keep up with my kitchen the most. Then keep all other rooms pretty tidy. I have been decluttering consistently for about 9 years now really seriously. I'm decluttering a spot/cabinet/drawer probably every week. We moved to a house half the size of the previous house so we still have a lot of stuff that doesn't fit super great into this house. A lot of the stuff that's still needing to be gone through is my husbands tools and stuff that I don't know necessarily know what it's for so I won't do that because I would probably throw out 90% of it that he probably needs.
I got dvd sleeves from amazon. I just put the dvd paper in the sleeve, too. It cut down my stack by over half. I got a nice wicker basket to put the plastic sleeves in and it organizes them so nicely.
I have kept all my dvds (mostly),I put them in books and try my best to make sure I have the full set. Sometimes, I don't want to search the streaming channels and want to watch it now. Lol
Liebe Shannon!
Chugs - we have had seven .chugs - best dogs ever! Smartness of the chihuahua with the absolute divine , dopey sweetness of pugs. Super cute and funny looking to boot :). We have one now and he’s 17 years old - yep, nice long life of the best dogs!
You look amazing girl, even though you had this little health setback. Hoping new meds will be the right ones for you. Turning 40 was a bit special for me because I was a new mom (she was 8 months old), so that decade clearly was unlike the others for me. I am now 52, and the good thing about growing older is that we know what we want and don’t want in our life. And I don’t feel guilty about as many things now, such as staying home to read a book instead of doing whatever I don’t feel like doing just to please other people.
I am sorry to hear about your health battle, but grateful you're doing better. Excellent cleaning job. I have held on to DVDs, not willing to part with certain ones, and yet they're never reached for. Silly, I guess. That cabinet would look nice painted. I so enjoy your humor!
Love this! I would get a DVD binder and put the discs in there & toss the cases...saves room and you're able to take it on trips easier. Aw man I got really excited about the Nintendo switch going in the cabinet!
I had a dutch friend tell me once in Holland they liked white furniture because it doesn't show dust like black or brown wood furniture does so maybe you should stick with the white..lol.
I certainly did declutter dvds because majority is now streamed, I’m now buying them again because I refuse to pay to rent them, Amazon prime especially charges you to even watch lots of old movies. Personally I’d stick them in one of those folders and keep them.👍🏻
They have blinds that don't use strings to raise or lower them. They carry them at walmart. And I love them so much easier to deal with than those dang ole strings..and they are very reasonable.
I don't think your blinds are broken, you just have to pull the cord left or right. One way unlocks the blinds so you can raise our lower them, the other way locks them so they stay in place.
8:14 Am I the only one watching the logo on the TV, thinking about The Office episode with the DVD logo?? 😅 Great video! I am praying for you and your health issues. As for the DVDs, I keep them since I have a dedicated spot for them. Sometimes, with streaming, the movie I have a hankering to watch is on a platform I don't subscribe to, or it costs money to view. Keeping my favorites allows me to watch whenever I want and for free. 😊
Turned 42 yesterday. Even though nothing happened or I did anything. Felt like a horrible day and this day feels bad too. It’ll get better I keep telling myself.
It’s Great to see you!! I love your Real World advice, grace, and humor. You’re a Lovely Lady with a Beautiful family and home. Take it easy!! Happy Spring. Amanda from Chicago 😊🙏👍🍀🌸
30 was really hard for me, too. I’m 51 now and 40 and 50 weren’t near as mentally difficult. I could have sworn I’ve seen you clean your windows inside the living room in an older video!
First… you look beautiful! Second… I too have a blood issue. Mine is low platelets and I am taking a cancer drug that is also used for my condition to keep It at a constant level Third… my son was supposed to have a total knee replacement a month or more ago, but because of a high white blood cell count,. He can’t have the surgery until it’s in a normal range. Which it hasn’t been. I told him to ask the dr to dig deeper to find out why
I Decluttered/trashed our dvd cases years ago but still have our favs in two small photo boxes using CD sleeves. I have my old favs and my daughters current favs so when streaming goes out or we just want to watch something that we own. I don’t have to worry whether the streaming service has purged it. We still have options. But the cases had to go! And I don’t exceed the space of those two photo boxes for movies
I’m 44. The thirties was so by busy!! I really enjoy my forties. The children still live at home, so we are all together, but they are more self sufficient and we get way better sleep 😂. We are in a better place financially, and both our careers are going well. On top of that I am less in doubt about myself. Don’t be afraid of 40!
We keep the DVD's we would watch again and donate the others. I go through them a couple times a year to revisit what we are watching or not. I'm 54, my youngest is 13, so I am in a phase of decluttering any "just in case" items. I like capsule wardrobes, it keeps our laundry very manageable and we regularly wear all our clothes. I enjoy all your content 🎉
Each of the strings for your blinds is for 1 side. If theyre going up crooked, pull the shorter one and itll even them out for you. I use a thick microfiber towel on the inside of my windows and it helps tremendously! I had never done my windows before fly lady, it just never occurred to me. We moved so much growing up that it wasnt something i ever saw my mom do. This past march 1st marked 15 yrs that ive lived here and 2 or 3 yrs ago was my first time so dont feel too bad about your 6 yrs! Lol. Blinds are a pain to keep up. I used to put them in the tub to clean and then it was pointed out to me that theyre so cheap, i should just get new, so i did. Now, theyre all cord free and the hardware has to be changed to switch them out. I did one window bc i accidentally broke a few slats dusting and it was such a pain to change them that im room by room switching to sheers with black out curtains over them. During the day i open the heavier ones and the sheers give me privacy but when it gets dark, i close them bc with lights on, you can see through the sheers. I went old school lol and i love it! Ive been going through what you are with my house. Where its time to spruce things up but chronic illness threw me into being behind on so many things thats it taking me forever to get things where i want them to be. Youre my inspo to keep going! Thank you!!
0:30 First let’s pause to appreciate you lookin good 😊 love the hair.

I took my blinds down and put up curtains. I loathe dusting/cleaning blinds. So much surface area! 😊.
I love the look of blinds, but yes, I totally dislike cleaning them.

Until you want to replace the blinds you could install cleats to the side to wrap the cords around when you want them open. 🌻🍄

Agree with FlyLady system. Easier to get tasks done in 15ish minutes at a time rather than a spring clean bulk method.
Praying you continue to feel good. Your house is looking good
Shannon you look so we'll, your hair and eyes !! Love your videos and hope you are feeling as well as can be
I got dvd sleeves from amazon. I just put the dvd paper in the sleeve, too. It cut down my stack by over half. I got a nice wicker basket to put the plastic sleeves in and it organizes them so nicely.
Donate the DVD's to the library. You can always go check them out later if you want to watch them.
I have kept all my dvds (mostly),I put them in books and try my best to make sure I have the full set. Sometimes, I don't want to search the streaming channels and want
to watch it now. Lol
Liebe Shannon!
So nice to have. Little reward aka new rug after cleaning and decluttering!
Chugs - we have had seven .chugs - best dogs ever! Smartness of the chihuahua with the absolute divine , dopey sweetness of pugs. Super cute and funny looking to boot :). We have one now and he’s 17 years old - yep, nice long life of the best dogs!
They are fun dogs! You described them perfectly!
Yes the flylady 💜 I love having clean windows! I just made a little short video of me spring cleaning my windows!!
A Great Video
I had a dutch friend tell me once in Holland they liked white furniture because it doesn't show dust like black or brown wood furniture does so maybe you should stick with the white..lol.
I certainly did declutter dvds because majority is now streamed, I’m now buying them again because I refuse to pay to rent them, Amazon prime especially charges you to even watch lots of old movies. Personally I’d stick them in one of those folders and keep them.👍🏻
Put the DVDs in a CD holder book and then you have them compacted in one area
They have blinds that don't use strings to raise or lower them. They carry them at walmart. And I love them so much easier to deal with than those dang ole strings..and they are very reasonable.
Lived in my home almost 6 years now and have never cleaned my windows 👀 it’s on the list for 2024!
I'm glad you did the windows even if you didn't do a fabulous job but they got done GREAT job. 😊
Me too! Something small goes wrong and I can just spin out into paralysis!!! It always feels better when I find out it’s not just me. ☮️❤️😊🌈💪
Your hair cut looks so cute! Hair flip 💁🏽♀️🥰
I don't think your blinds are broken, you just have to pull the cord left or right. One way unlocks the blinds so you can raise our lower them, the other way locks them so they stay in place.
8:14 Am I the only one watching the logo on the TV, thinking about The Office episode with the DVD logo?? 😅
Great video!
Glad you are feeling better.
Turned 42 yesterday. Even though nothing happened or I did anything. Felt like a horrible day and this day feels bad too. It’ll get better I keep telling myself.
We have the same type of rug, they have to be cleaned with a squeeegee mop, then if nessesary then hung up.
For me turning 30 was devastating bawled like a baby, knew it was time to grow up. Just turned 62 and am not very happy. But forty was really fun!
Same here! I bawled like a baby on my 30th birthday too. I’m 55 now and feel like I may bawl again when I turn 60. lol
So happy to see that you posted a new video! Yay. You look beautiful, your hair looks so pretty and love you nails. Hope you keep feeling good ❤
Yes I love the hair too
It’s Great to see you!! I love your Real World advice, grace, and humor. You’re a Lovely Lady with a Beautiful family and home. Take it easy!! Happy Spring. Amanda from Chicago 😊🙏👍🍀🌸
Glad you are feeling a bit better ❤
I just turned 39 last week! Lov yo videos so much
I put our dvds in a cd case from the days. And tossed the cases.
I got rid of my dvds and regretted, so I've been buying back some at goodwill.
30 was really hard for me, too. I’m 51 now and 40 and 50 weren’t near as mentally difficult.
I could have sworn I’ve seen you clean your windows inside the living room in an older video!
First… you look beautiful!
Second… I too have a blood issue. Mine is low platelets and I am taking a cancer drug that is also used for my condition to keep
It at a constant level
Third… my son was supposed to have a total knee replacement a month or more ago, but because of a high white blood cell count,. He can’t have the surgery until it’s in a normal range. Which it hasn’t been. I told him to ask the dr to dig deeper to find out why
Turning 50 was hard for me. I had just finished cancer treatments and was feeling very down and questioning a lot about life and people in it.
You can probably donate those unwanted dvds to your library or maybe a school if you have children's dvds or trade with your neighbors
We actually sold DVDs on a big platform that buys and sells books, DVDs, games… But we also buy them there if we need. It’s „store it in a store“.
I saw GOONIES DVD!! Our Family Favorite 💜
Love your hair! I will add your health to my prayer list!
Glad you've gotten things better in control with your health. Adding you to my prayer list
I’m 44. The thirties was so by
busy!!
I loved how the dogs were watching you through the window! 😂
Also. I HATE mini blinds. I hate them with a passion. There I said it. I feel better.
Your hair looks so cute.Love watching your videos
Thank you!!
