They should bring back Craig Ferguson who used to host the late late show before corden took over. Craig Ferguson was hilarious. Magnetic personality and just funny. His duals with Robin Williams, Don rickles, Jon hammn, larry king , steven wright are legendary.
Craig's show was so bizarre in the best way. His co-host was an animatronic skeleton, and that was not the weirdest part of it.
Craig is the best late show host of all time imo
Unfortunately I don't think Craig liked the job so I doubt he'll be back. It's a shame since him and Conan are the only two I can stand watching.
Trevor Noah is another example of a woke & lame replacement for a legendary host like Jon Stewart for The Daily Show. Noah just quit because his viewership was down to 300,000 while Stewart was pulling 2-3 million viewers. And he was actually funny. I’ve never found any of Trevor Noah’s comedy the least bit funny. They were just political diatribes.
@@mjb0183 I agree Trevor Noah is not funny and full 0f woke garbage. Jon Stewart use to be funny but he s0ld out to the woke crowd as well.
I'm 55 yrs old, have watched everyone from Carson, Letterman, Leno, Conan, Kimmel, et al, and noone, in my opinion, was funnier and more personable than Craig Ferguson. He, by far, especially the "Geoff Peterson" years, was light years above all others when it came to entertaining, interviewing, and overall being very very personable to the audience. Extremely sad when he left his show, very angry that James Corden destroyed the "Late, Late Show" name. Great work guys, love your content, keep up the awesome work.
Craig and Conan were always my favorite. Craig for his very great interviews and his wit and Conan for his randomness and self deprecating humor.
Oh mani forget about Jeff Peterson and Secretariat. I miss his show a lot
Conan is one of the nicest celebrities.
I'm partial to Conan... but Ferguson was legit... all else in their era and after are fake as hell.
Man I miss Craig so much, he could make you laugh, think, cry, all while being kind and funny.
James Corden's schtick has a short shelf life. He's mildly entertaining to start until you can predict his every reaction to every situation... which doesn't take long.
Jimmy Fallen falls in this category
@@Marthyboy88 (fake laugh) HAHAHAHAHAHA
I'm not very familiar with his work or particularly a fan or hater of his.. But a quick google search shows he's been pretty active/prominent in the television industry since about 2007. I'd say 15 years in the business is far from a short shelf life.
James Corden is for middle aged women Daryl
I was in the audience for a Conan show in 1998. He was amazing. Came up into the seats before the show and interacted, talked to everyone, did a crazy dance and revved everyone up. He did it right.
I saw Conan live in the TBS days multiple times and it was always a great time.
any talk show fan puts conan at #1
That's why he's the GOAT! THE GOAT!!!
Conan illustrates why someone like Corden doesn't work as a host. If you're an entertainer or comedian, you should find joy in entertaining anyone. Whether that be someone on the street, a stagehand, or a crowd of 5000. The existence of a camera shouldn't be a factor.
Adell once said in an interview she was getting drinks waiting on someone and she was a hour early. So she walked around and talked to people in the bar she was at even had some food with a table of people and bought them dinner. She said when everyone likes you it’s easy to make friends so she always tries to when she is out and about.
I'm not a big fan of adele, but if that's true then she is a great example of someone who respects their fans, and appreciates where her wealth comes from. without their fans, a celebrity ain't shit.
@@mumuspain2086 I love her only because shes an example of a woman being cut in half in divorce and i think thats kind of funny lolool
I can't stand him. You can have him back.
No, honestly, you can keep him 😂
@@officeblokemike7914 Mike we love you!
@@officeblokemike7914 What if Madonna was thrown into the deal?
We can make a trade and get Craig Ferguson back.
Then why did you watch this video about him if you can't stand him?
Stewart Lee on James Corden: "Britain's loss is America's loss also"
Now that’s funny 😂
There haven't been a lot of British hosts on late night shows in the US. Craig Ferguson was the first British person (he is Scottish) I can recall as host of one of the major late night talk shows here in the US. Craig Ferguson hosted The Late Late Show for 10 years on CBS, and he was brilliant. Maybe CBS thought having another British person follow Craig as host of the Late late Show was a good idea. But it wasn't. Craig Ferguson didn't succeed because he is British. He succeeded because he is quick-witted and extremely funny.
I was a big fan of The Late Late show when Craig Ferguson was the host. When he left and Corden took over, I figured I would give him a try for a week. I believe I made it through two and a half episodes before I tapped out, and haven't watched the show since.
Comparing the two at all is ridiculous, having them as host of a show with the same name is straight up sacrilegious.
On the Patrick Stewart bit, while Patrick didn't have to bring it up on stage in the first place, James' argument is horrible. He's basically saying because he gave a nice introduction to Patrick Stewart he can't understand why the man would be angry over his poor treatment of the other presenters.
Patrick Stewart is just as much of a c*nt if not worse.
Compare this to Jay Leno and people saying "you wouldn't even know he was famous". An elderly lady once mistook him once for a cabbie while he was sitting in his car. He gave her a ride home many miles away and she was amazed he did not want any money! Her family at the house was shocked she got a ride from Jay who went out of his way all those miles to help her.
I was on the Reddit thread the night that happened. It was one of the most brutal comment threads I've ever seen and completely impossible to keep up with.
Craig Ferguson is still my fav in the "American" Late Night talk show genre in the last 20 years. He was quick-witted, would pick up nuances when talking to guests, could basically left turn and talk with a guest about history, music, philosophy, and flirt like hell... absolutely engaged to look for a nugget of something different... like the best party guest/host. And he seemed to engage and interact with his audience, bringing some on stage sometimes. Corden's car pool karaoke was fun for a few people I liked, but I think his ego isn't supported by the talent. Reminds me of a comedian who says "I'm FUNNY!"... when it is the audience who gets to decide that.
Yea that whole carpool karaoke bit was little silly. The whole point and concept is that people like to sing along to songs in the car, just by themselves or with friends/family. Like if you’re on a road trip. So the idea is he’s doing the same thing, but his passengers are the actual artists. I sort of already guessed in my head that they either had a crew that drove around them for protection (like a political leaders’ security) or he was trailing another vehicle and he wasn’t in control. Turns out I guessed right. So I’m really not sure why people are surprised or upset about it. Cause like you said, the liability if he got into an accident with another celeb while working. He looks at his passenger car too frequently to be driving safely, no show would be willing to take that risk.
People will latch onto any pretext for hating him, it's as simple as that.
Exactly. Also, if you look at the view outside the windows, you can see that when James needs to wildly wave his arms, or he and the guest are having fun with props, the car is usually pulled over to the side of the road.
I watched this video already but it’s good to see some British point of view🍻
british hate him more
I saw Conan once. He came out and talked to the audience for like 20 mins befriended the show. Def. Warmed us up to laugh. His staff and ushers were so nice and friendly. He recognized a frequent audience member and asked him if he wanted to be on camera. During the show, he pointed him out as promised. Class act!
The problem with the Patrick Stewart thing is that people love Patrick Stewart, and Patrick is older so… even if Patrick was wrong it’s going to be near impossible to get anyone on your side if you fight back like that… I think the move is to take the criticism and make a self deprecating joke and move on.
I think e bigger issue is Patrick is a professional with a long and well earned reputation for treating people with respect and kindness for Cordons behavior to be so disrespectful and insulting that Patrick felt the need to call him out publicly on behalf of all the guest's at the ceremony is a true indicator of what an arrogant little PR*CK he is.
Yeah he would of made Patrick look much worse if he didn't retaliate but instead came down to his level and both looked bad
It was cool to get the UK perspective on this. I think it says a lot they don't air his show in his homeland.
keep in mind, he held the latest time slot in American late-night talk TV (meaning, it was on past midnight for half the country) and many of us probably didn't even know he had a show until the pandemic. I know I didn't. He was an asshat with a talented house-band and one who would only occasionally have big stars (mostly British) on his show. My impression was that people didn't want to be on his show unless they had something to promote or were looking for any kind of exposure at all.
His Doctor Who episodes are really very good.
His highlight rlly
True. "no ones too big to fail". Usually when someone thinks they can never fail and get a big head is right when they fall
I met him in Benidorm around 2008 when he was going out with Sheridan Smith. He was sound then, just playing the arcade basketball on the beachfront by himself.
I didn't go out of my way to watch him, but if he happened to be in a movie I was watching (i.e. Oceans Eight) I wouldn't turn the movie off. He neither boosted the movie nor took away from it.
Regarding Patrick Stewart and James Corden: When Bob Geldof insulted Russell Brand he perfectly demonstrated what you said about waiting until the celebrity has left before lampooning them: ua-cam.com/video/RwzDyQRARE0/v-deo.html
OMG, I didn't think the dude was that bad until I heard this. Damn!
You can say anything you like about stress and pressures of fame and whatnot -- I believe the idea that wealth and fame allow a person's true character to come out. And the fact that he is consistently reported to be horrible not only to his own audience, other actors, and especially to waitstaff and other low wage people he has to interact with says to me that he really is a piece of garbage and deserving of all the hate he has been getting.
Craig Ferguson was loved, worked hard to become an American citizen (even has tattoos - because he's proud of it), and was a charming guy who was self-depricating and quickwitted in interviews. None of those qualities would i assign to Corden. Basically, the liberal media love him because he pushed their BS on a nightly basis.
Craig Ferguson had the best late night show!!!
He's considered a thwaet in the US.
Craig Ferguson was great. He was getting better ratings than Conan when he was on after him
David Letterman would have filmed the carpool karaoke in the Range Rove rand then in the final minute shown them being pulled - part of the joke and he use that to get a last laugh. He'd probably say "I hate lawyers!" and we'd all love it.
I could not be happier for a most deserving person.
Ricky G is AWESOME! His Golden Globe intro was AMAZING!!! lmao
Regarding the feud between Bill Maher and James Cordon, it'd be worth it to react to Jim Jefferies's take on it:
"Jim Jefferies Takes on Fat Shaming and Unpopular Opinions - The Jim Jefferies Show"
Or for that matter, to react to anything Jim Jefferies has done...
I'm not a James Gordon fan but either alot of people that don't like him aren't the best or most genuine people either let alone anyone who should be a judge of character. I guess I'm saying it's easier for alot of people to judge a celebrity or public figure than rather to judge themselves. As usual i enjoyed your reaction. You guys put a good perspective on it.
I'm judging you.
I love what you said about Piers Morgran. I heard him once (when he was replacing Larry King on CNN) and found him to be so obnoxious. I wondered if it was just my delicate sensibility, but I talked with a British tourist who told me, "You (meaning we in the U. S.) can have him." Ha! Ha!
I’m from the US. When James Corden took over the Late Late Show, my first reaction was “who the fuck is that?” Never heard of him. This video is very revealing. I wish Craig Ferguson would come back.
FYI, you never pay money to go to tv show tapings. Ever. Not even the Oscars. In fact, a lot of tv shows will _pay you_ to be in the audience. And people who go to shows like James Corden are never there to see James. They go to see one of the guests.
The Late Late Show was losing over $20 million each year for CBS. He didn’t leave because of his family. If he didn’t leave, his show would have been cancelled. Leaving saves face.
Seems like James in drunk AF when talking to Sir Stew Pat!
I don't think I've ever watched anything James has done. Looks like I have no reason to change that.
Watch Peter Capaldi and Ferguson together. Magically hilarious!
It’s the expectations of others that will destroy you.
James Corden we’ll his show has 1 good thing going and it has nothing to do with him. The good thing about his late night show was he brought 4-5 celebrities on at once and we got to see them interact. That’s it. Nothing to do with him but, seeing shows like Loki (can’t remember his real name) do a Robert De Niro and Al Pacino impressive in front of Robert De Niro was gold. The entire cast of family guy being on together… Gold. Just love the people that came together on his show.
Which is a format stolen from Graham Norton.
@@Zhiperser I didn't know Graham Norton hold a patent on that format.
I've seen the name pop up a few times and it's worth saying in a dedicated comment:
Corden's predecessor on LateLate - Craig Ferguson compilations is a HUGE Untapped mine for the OBs
One of the biggest tragedies of late night is that apparently one of the potential hosts who got beat out by James Corden was Norm Macdonald.
I always thought he was gay just from the little bits of his general demeanor I've seen, then I read that he apparently isn't.
That is the main reason why people hate him, he rubs them the wrong way, he isn't enough of a bloke.
@@scipioafricanus5871 no that's not it, people mainly can't stand him cause he seems fake, a bit of a bully behind the scenes and is everywhere
Norm MacDonald should’ve gotten that seat. Instead it was wasted on Corden and we lost Norm
I’m an Oregonian, aging liberal hippie from the 60s (that got a job 😊). I’ve enjoyed many comics and styles of humor over the decade. I’ve always found Corden’s humor bland and not worthy of being a fan of. The only thing I liked was his special with Paul McCartney. He will be quickly forgotten when he leaves American show biz.
I can just picture an episode of "between two ferns" with, Daz as the host and James Corden the person being shredded...... I mean interviewed....
The problem with all of these late night hosts is they put themselves first, not the guest. Johnny Carson was so good at this because he always made the guest look good. He would play straight man to the comedian or interact with the animals etc. Such a pro compared to most of these.
To think this is the right man to replace Craig Ferguson is bonkers! Speaking of Craig Ferguson... You should react to some of his videos! The guy is the best talk show host ever imo.
If I had in Sir Patrick's place, instead of confronting him, I would have just said to him, "it's all yours mate", and walked off stage.
I actually don't mind James Corden. I have watched his show and sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. Maybe he needs to grow but he did try different things and had great moments too.
I mean I like James Corden but man I wish Craig Ferguson would come back. that was my fav late night show
Patrick Stewart is a legend and I’ve never seen or wanted to see anything involving Corden, he needs to learn his place.
Picard called him out. And James turned into James.
Chicago Joe here...I think I like James more now😜🤪😝
He was a comedian on the White House Correspondents Dinner and when he popped into the oval office to say hi to Biden, he got a major cold shoulder (😮), like Biden forgot it was just a show. Here is a link to the comedy skit:
ua-cam.com/video/2sURn8b4GE4/v-deo.html
He seems like a fun guy to me, and I thought it was great having him on the show. 😊
i think this video dives too deep into the reasons why people dislike james, in my opinion I think MOST people dont like him because they find him too outgoing and perceive it as him being fake and annoying. This is the same reason why I think most people dont like jimmy fallon.
I have only watched carpool karaoke on UA-cam, and one of my favorites is with him and Bruno Mars. I’ve never watched his show, though.
Ferguson's a gold man, comedian and entertainer and all around cool guy. Some of the female celebs and guesses starred with him were really down bad and thirsting, s*mping for him though. How could you not? He's a likable and agreeable fun guy.
I don't really care about James Corden, but I have to give him props for Gavin and Stacy
You guys should react to some Craig Ferguson. He's the goat of late night, and it's not even close. When I was in high school i would fall asleep to his show every night and i still go back and watch old shows here on youtube.
Craziest thing is I ALREADY didnt like him and I didnt know most of this lol
Now, "Dude" - that's a name no one would self-apply where I come from. - The Stranger
😅 this is my space and that is your space!!
This is pretty common when people get too famous just from hosting a show. Ellen and Steve Harvey are like this too off camera.
I went to a Steve Harvey taping once and he was alright. He mimicked my clapping a little but did talk to the audience, answer questions and interact. It was a long day of shooting, he seemed tired and his laughs are phony.
I got into him when I watched gavin & stacy/ doctor who then British shows then clips of his late show so all this about people not liking him is a lite surprise. of course we dont really know celebrity like that, but to this extent 😬
the only American talk show hosts I have never gone off is Craig Ferguson & Conan O'Brien & they both retired
Craig Ferguson is the greatest late night host of all time. So sad that he never got to the prime slot (though it never would’ve gone over, I just wish he got the recognition he deserved). David Letterman is a close second, and Conan trails in 3rd. And now you can probably tell I have particular comedic tastes.
James Corden is follower doesn't voice his own opinion. they like that in the entertainment industry. that is exactly why he keeps his show.
I'm surprised that's even a real car in carpool karaoke. I automatically assume cars are completely fake or stunt driven on tv/movies. Doesn't affect my enjoyment at all.
Also you guys should do a Craig Ferguson with Norm MacDonald reaction. They are priceless together
ua-cam.com/video/o2jRYzLC8pY/v-deo.html
The only thing I liked was carpool karaoke, I knew he wasn't driving but the singing was good
I've seen Letterman. And he came our and bullshitted with the audience before the show. Did the same thing during commercial break, was nice and funny. Made fun of himself and could take a joke from people. You can even tell on some of the broadcasts when they return from commercials, the audience was already laughing at whatever happened.
Earlier this year my daughter met him. She works in a nice restaurant. She said he was very nice. She didn't even know who he was, until one of her coworkers told her. She didn't recognize him because of his beard.
I do not like James Corden and absolutely adore Sir Patrick Stewart but that Stewart confronted him at the podium in front of an audience doesn't sit well with me. How is one supposed to act to that abrupt criticism with an audience? Especially from someone as universally loved as Stewart - there's no right way to respond other than to stand there silent and appear contrite which is shitty.
Calling Corden the next Craig Ferguson is like calling James Corden the next Ewan MacGregor.
Please react to Craig Ferguson.... He is Great!
I was unaware James Corden was disgraced
I liked James a lot better before he came to the states. He seemed more grounded. He’s become too corporate and political now, doing what CBS tells him to do and say. I hear he’s not nice to fans but that’s just hearsay so I’m not sure about that one.
James Corden should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Craig Ferguson, the GOAT of late night.
Ferguson is literally the worse late night host of all time. Right up there with Seth Myers and Carson Daily.
@@iamworthy1302 Thanks for telling you've never seen anything of his
@@TheJunior3600 why would I was my time?
As much as I love Craig. Conan is probably the GOAT. Followed by Jon Stewart and Johnny Carson.
@@bendover7841 In the end it’s all a matter of taste. To me, no one was more spontaneously, naturally funny. And his conversational skills are above and beyond anyone else. I love Jon Stewart, but the Daily show was/is in a different category, mainly political. And Trevor Noah was a big downgrade imho.🍻

CBS needs to bring back Craig Ferguson.
It seems James Corden is a real person who feels things, is under tremendous amount of pressure and not using alcohol and drugs to cope with it like the superior talk show hosts they mentioned, who have also been more successful for a longer. Of time and got away with all of those coping mechanisms because as long as they're performing and OnPoint no complaints. He's not starving himself or doing illicit drugs to stay skinny, so that was against him from the start too. Remember in Hollywood we reward those who do those things as long as the end result is them looking hot. I see a person who is a real person feeling real things without a tool bag of tools to use to cope with things. Who could use more therapy, who amongst us couldn't.
Don't care if Patrick Stewart started it... back off the captain.
Nobody watched that late late show anyways LMAO
Please react to the Ordinary Things video about “The fall of the Soviet Union on TV” a great video that I know you’ll enjoy a lot
Had no idea he had a show.
Short answer -- he's a narcissist, always was. Fame just exacerbated his ego, and his sense of entitlement, and he felt more comfortable letting his true self show off camera.
He was on Stern awhile back and he seemed alright, who knows
I'm pretty sure he's a robot. Also, I fu***** hate the way he has them leave the microphone on when he has stand-up comedians on his show so that you can't enjoy it without hearing him cackle in the background.
I'm not a big fan of his but I couldn't imagine anyone being as bad as these people make him out to be. We all have bad days and or we do our jobs differently than others that may have the same job. I don't meet many famous folks out here in bfe Nebraska but I could imagine it to be a little tiring and trying at times trying to juggle a personal private life and a public one. As far as the not driving in carpool karaoke..who cares? Who watches it to see his driving skills? I watch it for the singers and stars who quite honestly seem to get along fine with James. Just my opinion and love watching you "Blokes" from this side of the pond.
Interesting... always felt this dude was full of it and was a whole act...
You guys should react to Craig Ferguson, the best late night host there ever was. James Gordon is the one that filled his slot when he quit.
I think the UK find loudness generally unpalatable and cringe - the US embraces it a bit better, but even they have their limits. There's only so long you can be this omnipotent chunk and still enjoy a positive reception - it starts wearing thin very quickly, and it seems like Corden just isn't getting the memo. He turns into that friend who doesn't know everyone finds them exhausting and irritating but keeps inviting themselves to stuff.
Here's a theory about James Corden and his success in America. But first, we need some context. I know that people are more suspicious of loud or seemingly excessive laughter and displays of strong emotions in many European countries because of our cultural differences. I've heard from many people who seem skeptical or incredulous when it comes to the way Americans express our emotions. The thing is that, from a cultural standpoint, we are (for example) *genuinely* friendly. We're *genuinely* interested in the lives of people we've just met. In fact, we laugh openly because we're _less_ concerned about what others think about us. With that in mind, I can easily see James's appeal to American audiences. It seemed like a good fit, because we like to laugh _with_ people on TV, not _at_ them (as they seem to enjoy in the UK with panel shows like Taskmaster). American viewers were successfully hoodwinked into actually believing that a vapid, self-obsessed dick is in any way authentic.
Of course the video you're reacting to goes a bit over the top in calling him the most disliked person in show business. He's got a lifetime career of hard work ahead of him to catch up to Chevy Chase in that regard. But he's off to a good start!
