Systems innovation is designed to try and tackle what we call wicked problems, which are highly complex and difficult issues, examples might include; global cybersecurity, inequality, the question of global governance, issues associated with the financialization of our economies, as well as international crime, terrorism, urban renewal projects or many of the forms of environmental degradation that we face. The defining feature of these issues is that they are not isolated problems but they are in a sense emergent features of the complex systems that make up our world.

Great topic, needs more care with emergence. The overall pattern and incentives are simply system features, whether by design or default, not mysterious behaviours self-organised within endless interactions. It is system outcomes that emerge, and these are generally not very mysterious either, such as co2 concentrations rising when lots of people burn fossil fuels or conflicts starting when lots of people have weapons. I'd say that the defining feature of wicked problems is our persistent collective failure to even define them in ways that make them solvable. Keep trying :-)

We think in a linear fashion, true. But can we possibly start to reason from complexity and via systematic approach? Is there a natural limitation in place? Could a strong AI solve such a problem? (taking all risks into account)

Vasilii Kondyrev , we humans arent doing that bad, look at the history, how we evolved from groups to villages, cities , states, unions - all thanks to culture, law, political system and etc.
Yes ai could change it , not only it but i believe even blockchain and cryptocurencies too. Look at what did the internet give us , we are more connected than before, but still there are alot of things to work on ( fake news, corruption, inequality ..) The question is when are the people acting for a better world
