  • cylinder compression test tutorial will work for any vehicle. check your recommended compression ratios prior to testing for your vehicle. I didn't do the 10 second rule for the video due to already passing the compression test prior. video is instructional purposes only. my vehicle in video is a 2006 cobalt ss lsj which should read aroun 205 to 210psi from factory. All four cylinders came back around 205 psi. When doing your reading take into account your vehicles milege parts get worn down over time an compression will drop does not mean that your engine is bad it's normal over time. in the video the cylinders at the top aren't in order. start with cylinder one an make your way over to the last cylinder typically on a fwd 4 cylinder like above cylinder one starts on the passanger side

Then what’s the purpose of the compression tester, aren’t they the same thing?

I guess that won’t hurt the starter?

Don’t wanna stress the starter too much, but if this kills your starter (compression test equaling 2-3 minutes of crank time) than your starter must’ve had an issue already

Just pull all the plugs first. The starter will run all day with no compression load

Take out all plugs at once and maybe unplug the injectors so they dont wash the cylinders
