I'm an IT collector and I have to be honest, I think they have a lot of potential but there's something about them that I don't vibe with aesthetically. The reason I collect FR or NF is because of the fierce sculpts and amazing screenings which isn't Mizi's vibe at all (which I get, it's all down to personal preferences). But I do think she's a nice alternative to IT for people that like much sweeter dolls, closer to Barbie's vibe but miles ahead of Barbie in terms of quality. I just hope they'll diversify and dable in the fierce territory cause I'm interested in testing them out but I have yet to come across a Mizi doll that appeals to me a 100%
The mature / “sterner” sculpts definitely set IT apart from other brands out there, collector Barbie included, and it’s really become a big part of their appeal! I agree Mizi offers a solid alternative for folks who want a more luxury experience than what Mattel is offering without necessarily losing the sweeter / “gentler” face sculpts. It’s nice to have different flavors for everything across the board and in between haha. Thanks for watching & commenting! 💕
Agree There is potential for the company to grow into a competitive alternative. IT are very difficult to obtain at the affordable suggested retail level and remains largely confined to the same clique that can afford to purchase the full line at pre-order. I personally have built my collection from secondary market sellers and remain very particular about the ones I purchase since they are so expensive.
@@ralex3697 Preordering IT dolls is almost always less expensive than getting them on the secondary market, even piece by piece. Part of what's so great about the preordering process is that it gives pleeennnnttttyyyy of time to budget for dolls. I've only been collecting IT for about two years now, but really almost everything takes at least a couple of months to arrive. With the preorder, you just have to pay a deposit of $30-$50 up front. I divide the amount each doll costs by roughly how long she'll take to ship, and buy IT gift cards accordingly. IT cards are also one of my favorite Christmas/birthday/whatever gifts. I will admit that I initially felt like I didn't want to jump through hoops to buy dolls, but once you get used to how everything works, the way IT does business is actually pretty fun.
Me. The person you’re talking about is me 😂. I’ve eyed IT dolls for so long, but I just don’t drawn to the harsh angular features and overall “fierce” aesthetics even though I adore the vintage style fashions. I just can’t justify the price or effort to get them for a doll that doesn’t fully resonate with me. But when I discovered Mizi, I thought “oh these dolls look like IT tolls but with softer features”. I really hope to add one to my collection at some point
Sang makes excellent points. I’m aware of Mizi, and some of the fashions do look lovely - and I won’t deny the Adonis boys are fun & sexy. But it doesn’t feel like the quality is there for the prices they’re asking. Having said that, it’s very true these dolls are a nice alternative to collectors who can’t get into the harsher IT sculpts. Mizi almost feels like luxury-play line in that sense. Thanks for the review boys!
Adonis feels like it brings something more unique to the table than Mizi (IMO) but it’s true these prices are a bit tough to swallow at least until the quality improves a bit. But hopefully there are more improvements & fun designs to come! 😊
Agree with you guys on the Mizi dolls. I think the Mizi doll is a good alternative to and an addition to the 1/6 fashion doll world, but for the price they are charging, the quality of the doll needs to improve. I wish them continued success and I welcome more competition!
I also forgot to add JHD-Toys gets one MAJOR Demerit besides body weight and it’s for the front of the box having “Platimum” Journey instead of “Platinum” Journey. For a $150.00 price point spell check your packaging before you send it my way. LOL! Still love ya though! 🤣🤣🤣😉
Good point! I hadn’t noticed that. I have the doll and the same spelling error is made on the back of the box and the certificate of authenticity. They need a spell checker or someone fluent in English on their team.
Agree, If they are focusing now on the Western market, they need a spellchecker.. There were a lot of gramatical errors that, at a company level, should be addressed..
Great video, I was just looking at Mizi dolls recently myself. The Mizi 1.0 sculpt actually is more appealing to me. I liked the original background of her being a 1930's fashion model. There is so much that could be done with that concept! The 2.0 sculpt looks like a not-as-good Poppy Parker face to me and I think the direction is a mistake! It would be better to double down on the fashion eras that Poppy doesn't cover. The Mizi 1.0 face could easily wear 20's, 30's, 40's outfits which I think fit her vibe better. She looks a lot like a 1920's "bed doll" (definitely recommend looking it up if folks haven't seen them), why not play up that look? A good stylized high-end fashion doll is missing from the market that I can see, being a Poppy clone adds nothing and actually takes away from the original charm of Mizi.
@Ray What makes me the most sad about it is that she wasn't as much of a Poppy clone when she first started! I think they need to go back to her roots and try again if they want to redesign her.
I adored their original Mizi sculpt and bought a few of them when the line first came out. Then they came out with these new sculpts and I haven't liked them since.
@@Violetbunnyfish I totally get that! It took me looking through their website archive to realize that the face had changed. I thought it was just the new fashions not being to my taste. But yeah, the first face was so much more unique and cute!
Oooh, I can totally see that! The older sculpt definitely had classic / pinup vibes that set it a bit more apart from Poppy. I’m curious if the 1.0 sculpt will make much of a return from here, or if they plan to push forward with this direction and compete more directly with IT & Barbie. I would love to see more of the 1.0 in person sometime to compare. 🤔 Thanks for watching! 💕
Sang's argument reflect those of mine. I appreciate the introduction to this doll line, but honestly not one of the Mizi dolls makes me want to research this company. Thanks guys!
I started collecting Mizi in 2019-2020 and I have to be honest she starts to stick! The Anna May Wong sculpt is just breathtaking and the Lilly sculpt has also snatched my heart. The Anna May Wong sculpt was recently released in an Afro-Latina iteration and she’s OUT OF CONTROL GORGEOUS. There is nothing she can’t wear. Also their Beach fun Fatima (which is a Mizi -2.0 sculpt I believe) I pick up and redress constantly!!!!! I currently have her in a hot pink 1960s Play-Boy bunny look and people just always ask about her. They are giving me the diversity I need at that price point. They are a young company I believe just in their 4th year of production but she’s getting better and better with every release. I feel like she brings such a fresh youthful vibe to my cabinet. The Vampire Brides blew me away and to be honest those ladies are the reason I’m now pre-ordering all her releases. If they fix this light Weight paper doll body issue, WATCH out! Also has anyone seen the Lilly 2021 convention Spice or Spicey Girl? WOW!!!!! She took my breathe away and I had to click, click, click, YESSSSSSSSS! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH! I might be alone on this opinion, but I feel like IT dolls are so hard to purchase at a reasonable price. I say this while also admitting that after looking into how to purchase one and getting overwhelmed by all the clubs, retailers etc I dropped the idea of getting a doll. I wish it was set up easier to obtain. The second hand market for IT dolls is super expensive as well, nude dolls costing more than I am willing to pay. It may be just me, but until buying IT dolls is more easily accessible I don’t think I’ll be able to get one. Love looking at them and living vicariously through others!
Great review.. I am an IT collector, from long time ago.. and was closely watching Mizi dolls from almost the beginning.. I was not totally sold on her due to the quality issues she had (like the flimsy body) and some eye screenings do not appeal to me.. But I ended up buying my First Mizi (Fabianna) from the beach line. Honestly I was not impressed.. the rubbery hands and the box feel kinda cheap when you compare to IT Toys.. so I was not fond on her.. until the Vampire line. The dresses and accessories are gorgeous, and the creativity behind them were amazing. Had to get them all.. And found out that AnnaMay have one of the most gorgeous faces ever.. LOVE LOVE her.. I can see that the company still have to improve on some things but I do think they are experimenting on different things that are making me excited.. Like the Superstar collection.. But I do agree that for a 150 price-tag, an Integrity doll is quality wise a better doll. I also do agree that competition is always good for consumers (like me).. for now I am liking the wide variety of dolls we can get (Integrity only gives you fierce/mean looking dolls).
I'm moderately interested in Mizi, but I feel like their offerings so far have been kind of all over the place. It seems like they're trying a bit of everything to see what sticks. IT doesn't really do that, and Barbie doesn't do that in a particularly sophisticated or interesting way. I actually like both the IT Dolls (mostly FR) and Mizi because of their different facial designs. I noticed the newer Mizi dolls have a different body, which they claim give them a sturdier feel, whatever that means. That's why we don't buy on eBay, their prices are really raised ridiculously, go and try find a dealer for IT or look for people who sell it in Instagram, definitely would be cheaper
@@gameikko2909 No, unfortunately, the eBay prices are the low prices. You know the direct company charges more. E Bay is the cheaper, but still pretty high.
Poppy is roughly $160ish at retail, depending on the specific doll. Poppy prices on eBay are much, much higher than her retail price. You just really have to be in The W Club if you want to collect Poppy because she's so popular.

IT dolls are nice but too broody looking. I've found lots of Barbie and Ken clothes to fit my IT dolls, including shoes for the males.
Between the Mizi and the IT dolls, I would choose the IT doll. The Mizi doll is cute but her eyes feels too big somehow. She do give me Twiggy vibes but in a cartoon-ish way. I hope to one day be able to own a Poppy Parker doll. But sadly IT dolls are way over my budget. Even playline dolls are over my budget. But one can always dream. Hehe. I wouldnt be surprised if an IT doll costs more than what my bjd dolls are worth today. My bigger one cost $180 when I bought him 6 years ago and my other one that is a size smaller cost about $140 when my ex got her for me about 9 years ago. Loved the review. Rock On!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍🤘🏻👽🇸🇪 //Nekoboys Toys and Dolls
Mizi does have a cartoonish vibe to her face that, as Sang mentioned, might be a bit jarring / different for IT collectors (and vice-versa! Lol). It’s definitely brutal finding and affording IT dolls, especially Poppy and especially if you aren’t a W Club member. We learned this the hard way! 😩 I hope you’re able to get your hands on one someday, but if not there are plenty of other brands to enjoy. 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting! 💕
