  • While looking for a good sounding piano for my new album and short of getting a Yamaha U3 I almost bought (but couldn't have fitted in this space) I came across the German D Grand expansion from Kurzweil. What a great sounding card this is!

hello. So you're saying that after installing GERMAN D RAM, all previous PC3k samples just disappear, right?

Hi there.. That's what the manufacturer says and when I made this video I had just installed it, thinking I would need to remove the new GD card to reinstall my old card in for the Kurzweil sounds but.. I have now realised that all the PC3K8 sounds are still there and the new pianos from the German D ram appear as from sound 3700. It just jumps from factory sound 1024 to 3700 Concert Piano (from German D) and all the Kurzweil sounds seem to still be there so.. happy days!

@@sebmorgan Thanks for the information. Look I got a "brand new" PC3k8 in a music store and got also KORE64 snd GD also. Frankly I never was a fan of KURZ, but I must say that this station has lots of unique and very spetial ORCHESTRA SOUNDS, or church organs, which I definitely don't want to miss now. Did you keep all those sounds that I meant? Tanks a lot!

@@user-cr2gj8kw4e Yes I did. I recently bought a Nord Electro 6HP to have a few different "better" organ sounds and it frankly doesn't have anything on the Kurzweil (even though it came out a decade later) - I've been using Kurzweil since 1995... I've had PC88s, MXs, K2500RS, and I've had this PC3K8 since 2011. People are not drawn to them because of the complexity of programming.. (manual is thick as Homer's Odyssey) but the sounds and touch is amazing. Only step up for me now would be an acoustic piano (if I only had the space!)

@@sebmorgan yeah right? I own PC3k8 now too and am very happy with it. It’s a legendary masterpiece of music industry and especially that instrument is l“light years ahead“ technologically and acoustically of all this CASIOs, NORDs, YAMAHAs etc. But it’s my opinion. Because I have possibilities to test all of it, except PC3… All the best for you!
