  • I had the pleasure of interviewing James Redd. James has had much experience in talking with Jrhovah witnesses, and I appreciate his take on the Trinity and how to bring up this topic with JW's.
We discuss the differences between. the new world translation and the Bible. The watchtower society have changed their doctrine over and over again.
It's very important to learn how to talk to a jehovah witness to win them to Christ. They can be some of the most difficult to reach because the watch tower society bans them from research outside of the New World Translation and Watch Tower Society doctrine.
we hope this blesses you as you speak with your next JW. remember to be patient and yet stick to the Truth.
don't be afraid to get out there and get your feet wet with talking with your local jw.
As Christians, we DO NOT believe the father is the Son, the Son is the Spirit, or the Spirit is the Father. each person in the Trinity is separate in person, yet One in being. This is not a contradiction.

Hi Knieshia! It’s Nick from Hawaii now living in Thailand. I belong to the Christian congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I appreciated your discussion with James but there was so many things that were not fairly brought out. And many inaccuracies. I wrote James and he emailed me. Would be happy to talk to both of you on a zoom discussion. He said he would make time. Just to let you know you are invited to have a respectful non-heated calm discussion. You are like me in many ways and love to test things full strength. And I am also like you where I don’t rely on the “JW Bible” where others can say “well that is your Bible.” Haha. I can tell you and James are great peeps! Sincerely.

I love that you both are about showing love. That should be the motivating reason we have when talking with others. Too many times I see debates and gotcha vids online and they are just about arguing and make others look bad. I have carefully looked into the scriptures and do believe the witnesses are the closest to first century Christianity than any other group. And my family does see God’s spirit backing the witnesses in more ways than one. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I think you and James would be great to talk with. I won’t talk over you guys or anything. Just want a chance to share some more scriptural reasons on things you said in this video you may not have considered. There is no hurry and I know both you guys are busy with life and family. Thanks in advance for the opportunity. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

    Well done Knieshia and James!
What and enjoyable conversation to listen to! 👏🤩 James you're awesome brother! Articulate, passionate and so compassionate towards the Witnesses (you too Knieshia!) and I could NEVER tell you have any kind of “social anxiety”! 😂👊
Great tips on how to converse with them, very good scriptures and reasoning on this topic of the Trinity!
This was just a joy to listen to you both! Very frank and honest observation on our anxieties and nervousness sometimes when we speak to them, never lose sight of who they are: people potentially belonging to the Lord , they just mislead as we were all once..!
But the same time never let them wiggle out of answering and considering direct questions and let them hopscotch to ten other scriptures to trying to get out of answering!
Let the Spirit work on them as they consider hard question or look at Scripture in the way they never did before!

Interesting to see conversations happening like this. My question is, will you use your belief to impose on others, it use the government to impose on others?
Can you explain the logic of the Trinity in mathematical calculation, so I can understand better.
    Hope to hear your response.

    • @NickHawaii
      @NickHawaii Місяць тому +2

It is fundamental math that 1+1+1 = 3. If each person of the Trinity is equally God, then there are 3 Gods. No matter how much some try to get around this, they can't. Just juggling words to say "there are not 3 Gods but 1 God" is useless in the face of logic.
If the Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God, then you have 3 Gods.
If the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, each equal in eternity and almightiness, then logically there are three Gods, not one God: 1+1+1 = 3.
And if it takes the "union" of the three "Persons" to make up one God, then each "Person" is only one-third of this God: 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 = 3/3 = 1
      If some insist you multiply 1 x 1 x 1= 1
They don’t believe in the Trinity but Sabellianism.
Does 1 equal the Father or the Trinity?
Father x Father x Father = The Trinity?
      Just sayin.

@@NickHawaii God is not the same as you and me. He is infinite and it is not possible for us to fully understand Him. The arguments against trinity are simply because we, as humans, are not able to fully truly understand or comprehend Him.
God is unlike anything in creation. For created beings like us, one person means one being. Now, we take this understanding and apply that to God, trying to fit him within the scope of our limited minds? Are you saying you know all types of non-human higher beings and this finite concept of one being meaning one person applies to them too? Have you transcended beyond normal humans to this higher state and come back to us to say 1+1+1=3 applies to God? Please do not blaspheme in your ignorance.
Logic will take you so far in trying to understand the nature of God as revealed in the Bible. You need to realize that with the help of Holy Spirit.
When the Bible says there is one God, does it mean numerically one, or one in essence or one in nature? He is not limited like us to be one being in one person. The trinitarian thought just gives us an easy way to understand what the Bible says about God: it is the Father in union with the Son and the Spirit.
When in school the physics teacher taught you that light is both a particle and a wave, it has dual nature, did you not agree? If light, a simple creation of God, can have dual nature, why is it difficult for you to believe the triune nature of its creator?

Thanks for telling me. The reason why I ask is because you said the living God was the trinity. But isn’t Jesus the Son of the Living God as seen in Matthew 16:16?
Then Jesus would be the Son of the trinity which doesn’t make sense to me.
And Jeremiah 10:10 tells us when we leave God’s name in it that the living God is Jehovah.
So you would find yourself having to go back and forth and say it only means the living God is the Father in one place but then in another there it means the trinity. See what I mean? Doesn’t seem consistent. Just sayin.

This would be a better conversation when we all get together, instead of typing it out.

Jesus would be very disappointed to see people teaching others that he should be worshipped instead of his God and Father.
In John 1:1 John wasn't teaching a trinity or that Jesus and the one he was with are the same God.
He even used two different Greek words.
Jesus is theos, God or a God while the one he was with is Ton Theon, The God.
In Collosians 1:16 the word "other" is implied because God and Jesus obviously already existed.
The whole narative is of a Father and a son, so who must come first the Father or the son?
We know Jesus has a Father but can God who always existed have a Father?
Why is it so hard to accept that the first thing God created was another being exactly like him and then he worked through that one.
Look at the first man Adam, God worked through him to bring about the whole human race.
Much earlier God had already worked through Jesus to create the whole universe.
Paul applied the same terminology from Psalm 102:25 to Jesus in Hebrews 1:10 because as he had just been explaining Jesus had been there with Jehovah when it all began and that God worked through or by means of him, Hebrews 1:2.
Again Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 8: 6 how everything is from God but through Jesus:
"There is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him."

So much to unpack with that but I’ll start with the Greek. That is not what Theos and Theon mean or how they are used in Greek. Theos, with an S means that it is the subject of the sentence where Theon is not the subject but both mean God. If you check the interlinear, BOTH Theos and Theon are used for God, capital G. I implore you to actually study the Greek language and it’s semantics so you can see as understand why John 1:1 is appropriately translated as “… and the Word was God.”
See in the interlinear where Theos is used for God:
      Matt 1:23
      John 8:54
      Romans 10:9
And then see John 10:33 where they put “god” where it says Theon in Greek.

"So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father; and he was full of divine favor and truth," John 1:14.

The one true God _is_ love (1 John 4:8,16). And the greatest demonstration of love is to *lay down one's **_own_** life* for others (John 15:13). The Watchtower version of "God the Father" did not lay down his own life for anyone. And the _Trinitarian_ version of "God the Father" did not lay down _his_ own life for anyone. So neither the Watchtower version of "God the Father" nor the Trinitarian version of "God the Father" is the one true God.

The one and only true God - God the Father, "THE everlasting Father" (Isa.9:6) - is the unipersonal Spirit who "came down from heaven" _without leaving heaven,_ and who manifested _himself_ on earth in genuine human form, as _his own_ Son, so that he could *lay down **_his own_** life* for us, raise _himself_ from the dead, and give eternal life to all who believe on _him._

And the _name_ of this unipersonal, *self-sacrificing* Spirit is revealed to be the name which is above _every_ name: *JESUS.*

    *1 TIMOTHY 3:16 (KJV)*

@@euston2216 : Is this comment a for or against Jesus being God idea?
1 John 4:12 clearly states that 'no human has seen God at ANY TIME.'. Jesus was SEEN.
      Please clarify.

-- The Father _cannot_ be seen: _"No man hath seen God at any time..."_ (1 John 4:12)
-- The Father _can_ be seen: _"...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father..."_ (John 14:9)

The one true God, according to his eternal existence far beyond our space-time continuum, is *invisible* to mankind. Yet the one true God "came down from heaven" _without leaving heaven,_ and made himself *visible* to mankind, in genuine human form, _within_ our space-time continuum.

The one true God's visible, genuinely human manifestation *died for us* (self-sacrificial LOVE) _within_ our space-time continuum, *and was raised from the dead **_by his own eternal, invisible self_* which dwells eternally _far beyond_ our space-time continuum....... *just as HE promised:* _"JESUS answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days _*_*I*_*_ will raise it up."_ (John 2:19)

If you believe the unipersonal God loves you enough to have *laid down **_his own_** life for you,* then seemingly contradictory passages are clearly seen to be no contradiction at all.
