Do the same test at different price points. So pick a $100 knife next (like a Ferrum Forge Stinger), then do a $200 knife (like a Benchmade Bugout). Would be great to see if the extra money is truly worth it when it comes to build integrity.
I think the more expensive the knife the less it holds up to the torture tests (more chips in blade because harder edge), but day to day more expensive does better as far as edge retention of course
This is the kind of videos why this was my fav channel and got me into edc. Not the 500 dollar coin or a 400 dollar 1 dollar per lumen flashlight. We don't get to have companies give us high-end stuff free. Most of us normal people that just love edc things with normal bank accounts. Videos getting back to the roots is what I root for.
This is by far the BEST video I’ve seen from you in a very long time made even better by the fact that you enjoyed making it! Test ANYTHING next. Just keep testing! Absolutely amazing! Thanks for this spectacular video!
Another great thing about the Lander is the parts are available directly from Knafs too. If you lose some screws, clips, spacers, bearings, etc. They are super cheap too. Knafs even sells a hardware kit for like $14
You can tell (as a long time viewer of yours I can at least tell) that you had fun with this video. Honestly that’s what I’ve missed most from your videos the last couple of vids, you enjoyment or enthusiasm for your own content. That’s what I think we all fell in love with, our shared enthusiasm for gear and stuff. Here’s to you 🍻 enjoying your own work again and passing the fun off to us.
The Lander did VERY well! You put it through more torture than most knives would regularly be subjected to in most cases. I love my Lander and the fact that imagination is really just about the only thing limiting scale options for it. The Worksharp tools performed as expected. I’ve never seen the Ken Onion in action on a knife that small, and it looked to still be very user friendly, even at that blade size. For upcoming tests… EDC Flashlight torture test. Mud, water submersion, sand, extreme cold (maybe freeze in a block of ice), measure real world lumens etc.. This was a fun one, Taylor and Rikki! See you bros at Blade West!
I haven’t gone quite that far, but I have put my poor Pilar through quite a bit: wires, drywall, rope, prying out nails (with the spine not the edge), pruning bushes, Cardboard, unscrewing screws (do not recommend). It’s been dropped, stepped on and went through the wash…it’s a great little knife. Granted, it needs sharpened more often, but that’s part of the fun. :) I don’t think I could put mine through everything you did, but I’m still impressed with it.
This was some of the best EDC content I’ve watched in a long time! The constant comedy and banter from you and Rikki is hilarious! Really looking forward to some more videos with this style of content, filming, & editing!
I'd love to see you test the Para3 LW! It's my favorite knife right now and I haven't seen anyone do any torture tests of it. I'd love to know how it could actually stand up to hard use and abuse! Great video, I love my Lander too!
You should test multi-tools. Especially the pliers. Use a small Knipex as control, and test a few Leatherman, Gerber, SOG. Also, screwdrivers on them with different size screws and damaged screws. And of course..... the bottle opener
This is my go to knife for everything. Plastic pallet straps, packing tape, boxes and bags all day everyday i lightly sharpen on a hard Arkansas stone once a week, i might hit the edge with a few passes if it needs it some days but mine really holds its edge. I am not nice to this knife lol. Love it.
I really like Work Sharp products! Field sharpener was my only sharpening system for a very long time, and I was able to put a really nice edge without using anything else. When it comes to the video - abuse tests are very popular form on YT, but people usually choose the toughest knives and locking mechanism and they just try to break it. It's really nice to see a simple, budget liner lock tested in your videos. With these tests people mostly focus on durability and toughness of a particular knife or lock. I think there are a lof of other interesting tests that can be made: - pocket clips - the comparison of different solutions - how easy it is to get it out of your pocket and put it back. Is it easy to lose your knife. Which pocket clips look best - slip joints - I think they've recently become popular again, but I think people sometimes don't treat these knives seriously. It would be nice to see a video putting them to more serious tests and showing how they behave in certain situations, how to work with them and whether a certain type of work is safe or not. - disassembly of different knives - maintenance is a part of carrying and using a knife. It would be interesting to see a video comparing the ease or difficulty of disassembly of different knives. Which knives are easy to maintain? What can be a problem during disassembly? Maybe you can organize "disassembly competition", measuring time it takes to disassemble and reassemble different knives. - testing different blade profiles and blade grinds and comparing how well they work in different situations, what are their strong and weak points - testing and comparing how various handle materials behave in different conditions, how tough and durable they are - you can also abuse some Rockstead knife, that will definitely get you some views 😁 These are just some random ideas, but it would be really interesting to see these kinds of tests as well.
So you tested D2 steel. I'd like to see you test other common EDC knife steels like AUS 8, SV30, or 154CM. Maybe have a comparison of the durability of the steel as well as how hard it is to bring back a useable edge.
Isn’t the best thing about the lander you can just order a new lock bar from Ben and be fully back in business? I love the lander for that. Oh and the flick deploy is so fast!
Kudos to You for doing things Guys Actually do on a Daily basis. Gotta say,,, I rarely cut hose, but i often trim edges on PVC, cut drip line and often scrape burrs off of metal tubes. Do I baton, no, hell no. I need my blade to last until the end of the day. Of course I'm not using a banter, but I can see its utility for guys that have a normal day job.
Love this vid. You were clearly having a blast too! I’d love to see you put a Magnacut blade (or multiple blades with different heart treatments) to a similar test + a home brewed corrosion test.
It did better than I expected primarily in the toughness of the steel. Looks like the batoning did in the lock which is expected. Well made video and enjoyable to watch.
Ben has brought some amazing knives and an amazing price point. Great watching some good knife usage, even if that pvc looked looked terrible. TP would for sure hang up on all those burrs you left behind. Great showing of how a well priced knife and sharpener combo can really keep and maintain a solid user knife.
All I know is that the absolute ONE THING I never ever doubted was bens ability to make very good knives that just simply work no matter what has never been a question with me!!!!!.. I've always been behind Ben... even going back to crkt days!!! Lol so when I saw he was starting his own line!!I knew the products would be just ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!!!!!
hey man love these everyday use test but I wanted to give kudos to your progress with your physique. Watched your change and I just heard on one of your videos that you did 445 x4 for DL. Big pull and love it. I'm also a personal trainer and a Paramedic chasing PA. watch All of your videos I live through your Knife-ness vicariously. Keep it up on both EDC and physical training.
Great video. First, I’ve not seen anyone test knives this way. Secondly, that Lander was amazing to stand up to all you out it through. I think if it as a camping, normal outdoor use knife. It went above and beyond that. I’d love to see a few other categories of knives tested and some videos of knives used in your everyday life
amazing vid! Love that you attempted to fix it up at the end, would love if you did some quick sharpening along the way too maybe? I wanna see you destroy a frame lock next, maybe a hinderer? And a Moraknif
Enjoyed it Taylor. I bought 10 of these for XMAS gifts last year. Great little banger for sure. I'd like to see a little more testing on magnacut steel. Be well bro🤟
I loved this video! I'd love to see more of these tests with other knives but id say the biggest thing is to standardize everything (even if its not perfect). Adding paper cut tests between the tests would be nice too. Great content!
I'm edcing a protech Malibu and love it. I'd love to see you torture test that knife because I see a lot of youtubers sing the praises of that knife but never include it in a top 5 or 10. Anyway I always enjoy your videos.
Awesome video Taylor, I think doing testing a spyderco shaman was great to see, it has a more robust tip than a pm2 and I’d like to see how the compression lock does. Keep up the great work.
I’ve always been wanting to see someone brave enough to do this style of torture tests to high end premium knives such as the sea otter, rotten evo, arcane abyss etc
Loved the content. Only thing I think you missed doing was using it as a screw driver (like we probably all have done with a knife in a pinch). Seeing how well the steel holds up to bending/twisting stress. It also might be cool to see how well a button lock holds up vs a frame lock or liner lock etc... This will be cool to see some of the most popular as well such as the bugout or para 3. Carry On!
$50 is a great price point. Enough money to get a quality tool that you care about but not enough money you stress about or baby. Good to see work done with a dull blade, sharp is always better but not the reality for most people. If you are staying in the light use tasks, it’s nice to see how little maintenance it takes to keep a workable edge.
Test a CPM 3V knife against a magnacut knife. Preferably with the knives being the same manufacturer and model like a Bradford or Dauntless manufacturing
Great vid - can attest to the lander work in a warehouse beat the snot outta it - and have the field sharpener- won't get mirror finish but Def working edge n get the job done 4sure
Test a para3, super popular option but the tip comes to such a fine point I'd like to see how it holds up. Then test a buck 112 ranger sport, I have one and it feels like it would be impossible to destroy
I really enjoyed this video! I also learned a bunch of new terms about the things that can go wrong with a knife and the little tricks to check it, like the fingernail trick! Entertaining and I learned a thing or two :)
Test the Microtech Ultratech, Civivi Elementum I/II, We Banter, Benchmade Bugout, Leatherman Ti, Boker Kalishnakov, CRKT Pilar II, Knafs Lander 2, Kizer Sheepdog XL Ti, Spyderco Para 2. Great job on the testing! I would still love to own and use that Lander after all the work you did on it 😊
Pick a knife that comes in a high end and basic steel, like a Demco in Aus10 vs Magnacut, or a Cold Steel SRK in SK5 vs 3V. Same knives, same tests, just different steel, and see how they compare and if the high end steel "makes enough difference to make a difference"
I really enjoy using my Knafs Lander. However, the blade came open in my back pocket and I almost cut myself, so I reversed the pocket clip and solved the problem.
I'd say what you did represents about 3 months of daily use, especially the HI/ Landscaping segment. Oddly, where I landed was the WE SNECX Mini Buster which stayed in my pocket for over a year needing only mild sharpening once a week, even after breaking some of the tip off. Please test something a little different than the standard Benchmade or Spyderco, as not all of us subscribe to the mainstream standards. Thanks..
Electricians reem schedule 40/80 pvc all the time with our knives. Gypsum will dull a knife quickly. I used to use my knife to skin feeder wire (500-600kcmil) to make up heads for pulling & that used to wreck the edge pretty good too. I’m guessing Ben was in on this…lol.
Honest question, no hate at all, but what do you use the knife for? As someone from the UK (in the country side part), I never need knife that much I would need to carry one. So what are the main uses of one to justify carrying it? Again, no hate!
I want to see what folder you would choose if you were being this hard on a knife every day. And of course put that knife through its paces too. Great video mate 👍
Test the CRK Zaan next Taylor and see if it really is the “Boss”. See if it really is “the knife to rule them all” This will be an expensive test for sure though, lol
Why didn't you replace your old hose with the new and perform the test on the old one? Lol Great video though. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the Lander 2 when they go up for grabs
This was great, and a testament to the Lander and Ben. That's a solid knife for the price. I certainly got @gideonstactical vibes when you were cutting all the different things. Then you went full @DutchBushcraftKnives with the concrete. As others mentioned, doing other price ranges and/or steels would be the next natural progression. We'll be looking for the next torture test. Thanks for everything you do for the community.
I am glad to see some torture testing on popular knife models. Please continue. Should be some very interesting findings if you proceed down this path. I would give you two thumbs up, but the tech overlords only let me give you one.
That Lander took a beating and kept going! Good case study video for Knafs. I think it could have taken a little more of a beating I'd personally love to see you beat up a Benchmade 940, Bugout, or Spyderco Para 3.
Do the same test at different price points. So pick a $100 knife next (like a Ferrum Forge Stinger), then do a $200 knife (like a Benchmade Bugout). Would be great to see if the extra money is truly worth it when it comes to build integrity.
I was thinking the same thing!
That’s the plan 🤘🏼
There are people that do those torture tests on those kinds of knives and they're not worth the money.
Exactly. Something that seems made for really hard use like a Medford.
Absolutely amazing! Thanks for this spectacular video!
It was honestly the most fun I've had shooting and editing in ages. Thanks for noticing 🤘🏻
I agree. Great test. Keep ‘em
Coming. I like when I see a knife pushed to its limits. See what it can do. Great job
Another great thing about the Lander is the parts are available directly from Knafs too. If you lose some screws, clips, spacers, bearings, etc. They are super cheap too. Knafs even sells a hardware kit for like $14
You gave a great example here of how valuable honing is, after all the cutting you honed it back beyond factory sharpness in no time. Great video!
i wonder if you could take a little file to the liner lock and flatten it out a little and maybe help it stay locked
You can tell (as a long time viewer of yours I can at least tell) that you had fun with this video. Honestly that’s what I’ve missed most from your videos the last couple of vids, you enjoyment or enthusiasm for your own content. Ben makes things that are actually on the day to day very very useful!!!! The man has a very unique mind set!!!!!! I'm all for it
Never had a problem with your format but i think this is a great addition to what you do good on you keep it going guys.
You should test multi-tools. Especially the pliers. Use a small Knipex as control, and test a few Leatherman, Gerber, SOG. Also, screwdrivers on them with different size screws and damaged screws. And of course..... the bottle opener
GREAT idea 🤘🏻
@@BestDamnEDCtry and get the GOAT tool too. Would be cool to see a collaboration where you make/design your own scales or a tool 😁
This is my go to knife for everything. One of the best extreme tests to an edc knife 😢 that I've seen, especially for this way to go brother 👍👍

Awesome video man. 🔥
We need to see more of this! Just gotta step it up and do that with a custom next time 😉
Jokes aside, this is gonna POP OFF!
Thanks, Brandon! 🤘🏻
It did better than I expected primarily in the toughness of the steel. Looks like the batoning did in the lock which is expected. Well made video and enjoyable to watch.
Solid work from the Lander! Great video!
Literally changing the scales on my Lander as this popped up in my notifications! Also for $50~ that knife survived it all 🙌🏽
Ben has brought some amazing knives and an amazing price point. Great watching some good knife usage, even if that pvc looked looked terrible. TP would for sure hang up on all those burrs you left behind.

Yeah, I didn't deburr it too well. But who's judging 🤣

I think this test was very informative. Now beat a mini bugout the same way. looking forward to a lander 2 test.
I love my Lander. Ben made one hell of a little EDC knife. Can’t wait to get the Lander 2 next month.
Great video. First, I’ve not seen anyone test knives this way. Secondly, that Lander was amazing to stand up to all you out it through. I think if it as a camping, normal outdoor use knife. So a lot of this does go beyond the limits of the knife, but that is the point, so great job! We wanna see what these knives can do
Enjoyed it Taylor. I bought 10 of these for XMAS gifts last year. Great little banger for sure.
I'd like to see a little more testing on magnacut steel.
Be well bro🤟
I am very impressed with the way the Knafs Lander did in the test !! Next up is I have to own one !!! I really enjoy your channel !!!
You can 3D print your own scales too. I remixed them to have swiss army knife toothpick and tweezer slots.
This was FANTASTIC, man. Already love the channel, but this makes me even more stoked for the next video. Keep doin the damn thing!
Best video I've seen next to DBK who are two Dutch guys. Thank you
Maybe add heat and cold to the test? Chipping ice out of the ice maker, using a lighter near the nife or to pry lift something hot.
Ooooh. Good idea 🤘🏻
That's way better than I expected from D2 these days and back towards when i first heard of D2 as a knife steel back in the early 00s.
I loved this video! I'd love to see more of these tests with other knives but id say the biggest thing is to standardize everything (even if its not perfect). Adding paper cut tests between the tests would be nice too. Great content!
I would love to see these tests but with different blade shapes to really get to see what they specilize with. Tanto, Spear point, clip point, etc...
This was a fun one to watch 👍 I'd like to see how a para 3 holds up to these types of tests as well as a sebenza. Very cool video 📹 😎
I'm edcing a protech Malibu and love it. I'd love to see you torture test that knife because I see a lot of youtubers sing the praises of that knife but never include it in a top 5 or 10. Anyway I always enjoy your videos.

I'm your guy 😂
Loved the content. Only thing I think you missed doing was using it as a screw driver (like we probably all have done with a knife in a pinch). Carry On!
I love my lander. Its a great price point and a quality knife.
LOVE THIS. The dynamic combo of both talking head and in-the-field action is just chefs kiss 😘 GET EM TAYTAY
I want to see this with a zaan now 😂 Greta vid Taylor! Rikki’s commentary is always hilarious! Excited to see more vids from you brother 👊
I think it whud be interesting to šele how much you van push a civivi baklash
$50 is a great price point. Enough money to get a quality tool that you care about but not enough money you stress about or baby. Good to see work done with a dull blade, sharp is always better but not the reality for most people. If you are staying in the light use tasks, it’s nice to see how little maintenance it takes to keep a workable edge.
Nope you didnt go to far. You pushed it to the limit. Nothing wrong with that
I've seen a ton of your videos now this is one of my favorite for sure.well done man!
I like this testing, it’s very similar to what Dutch Bushcraft Knives does.
I'm impressed with the D2. I'm a little skittish with my D2 knives thinking I might chip them - this held up really well.
I Effing love the lander! Its my favorite beater knife
I would still love to own and use that Lander after all the work you did on it 😊
🤡🤡🤡🤡😂😂😂😂
I have no actual need for one of those knife sharpness testers but I must get one now
You should do a battle format! Like the Para 3 vs the Bugout or the Shaman vs the ZT 0562!!
Why not use the old hose for testing and keep the new one
Pick a knife that comes in a high end and basic steel, like a Demco in Aus10 vs Magnacut, or a Cold Steel SRK in SK5 vs 3V. Same knives, same tests, just different steel, and see how they compare and if the high end steel "makes enough difference to make a difference"
Mission accomplished, that's one small step for man. One giant leap for mankind.
I would like to Umnumzaan or a Sebenza. I’m thinking they can take a real beating. Cool video
Id like to see how the civivi pintail does. Its currently my beater
Love this! Love all your videos but this was fun and different! Would love similar with other knifes like bugout and other edc gear
Really awesome video. Wants me to have a Lander now hehe.
Please test your Roosevelt exactly like that now😅
I really enjoy using my Knafs Lander. However, the blade came open in my back pocket and I almost cut myself, so I reversed the pocket clip and solved the problem.
I'd like to see the RAT-1 and the PM-2. Also, the AD 10& 15
Been on the fence with the Lander. I will be getting one. Great testing guys.
Thanks..
Awesome video, Taylor! Loved the content!
How about a civivi Fixed Blade elementum? Would be interesting to see how it stands up against the fixed blade giants.
Maybe a Vero Synapse XL? Something big and sturdy
I *love* my Khafs Lander!
I’ve been wanting to get one for a while but I think you should try a QSP Penguin Pocket Knife in d2
You did great. I loved this. The Lander is awesome!
So glad you were safe and used gloves!
Lander in my fav budget folder. I carry it everyday!
I'd like to see ya test the CJRB Pyrite next I personally think it's the best actual under $50 budget edc knife.
Please test the Demko 20.5 in 3v or the hogue deka magnacut.
Test the CRK Zaan next Taylor and see if it really is the “Boss”. See if it really is “the knife to rule them all” This will be an expensive test for sure though, lol
Why didn't you replace your old hose with the new and perform the test on the old one? Lol
Great video though. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the Lander 2 when they go up for grabs
Because we work harder around here, not smarter lol
This was great, and a testament to the Lander and Ben. That's a solid knife for the price.
I certainly got @gideonstactical vibes when you were cutting all the different things. Then you went full @DutchBushcraftKnives with the concrete.
As others mentioned, doing other price ranges and/or steels would be the next natural progression. We'll be looking for the next torture test. Thanks for everything you do for the community.
Keep this sort of material coming!
I carry a recon 1 folder. I would like to see what you think as a hard user
I am glad to see some torture testing on popular knife models. Please continue. Should be some very interesting findings if you proceed down this path. I would give you two thumbs up, but the tech overlords only let me give you one.
Can you test the knafs lander 2 cross bar lock
Please test Benchmade Bug Out 535GRY-1 & The Bailout 537G1
This needs to be a series!
That Lander took a beating and kept going! Good case study video for Knafs. I think it could have taken a little more of a beating
I'd personally love to see you beat up a Benchmade 940, Bugout, or Spyderco Para 3.
Such a painful video. But the Lander looked impressive as a working knife and I want one of those Ken Onion sharpeners even more
It hurt me to make it 😅
