Cool vid, bud. Although digital processing is really good, and adequate for most recording, it's hard to beat the clean, warmer signal from an analog preamp. Great comparison. The charity and warmth improvements using the analog preamp and compressor even came through on my cell phone. 👍🏻👍🏻
you're wrong about balanced vs stereo cables. they both use TRS connectors. balanced cables use each channel to send a phase-shifted signal then they combine them at the recieving device. stereo uses those two channels to send different signals completely. in both cases, two channels are used.
My question--does the analog warmth we're hearing end up getting EQ'd and thinned out in the mix? I mean, I definitely hear the low-mid girth added, but how much of that really stays in the final mix?
Heya it really depends on how you mix. But there are harmonics through the whole frequency spectrum caused by the analog gear. So there will always be some warmth left, even if you cut too much low end. The warmth sensation is also caused by the smoothing of the high frequencies as well.
Hello friend! Did I understand you correctly that the cable from the electric guitar should come out with one ring, and the input of the hi-z audio interface already has two rings?
So I don't hear any difference between the UA preamp and the external preamp in most of the recordings. What's the benefit.. if your audio card/device has preamps on it.. why bother with an external preamp? I ask cause I just bought the RME 2/4 PRo SE (no mic/preamp) and the Auteur MK3 for mic preamp to feed to the RME.
even tho its an avg preamp, it made a huge difference. im listneing on an apogee symphony mk2 ... everyone needs a preamp. you sir need better conversion or speakers so you can hear the difference. we're talkin 20% ish in fidelity and focus. listen to your synth. it sounds dull and flat without the pre. vocals too.
Compare 6:54 and 7:55 you can tell a big difference.
