    I did my bachelors in EE and now I am flying out to US for Masters in Electrical Engineering. But I am super nervous and fears of failure. "what if I am not good enough?" stuff like that.
    btw great video...

      Everyone struggles. Not knowing something is normal. Everyone has theses THOUGH. Learning something you don't know is a process.

    Hi Janpan, I really appreciate your honesty and your points of view about your PhD in this and in other videos on your channel. For me it’s truly inspiring and “if you are 2% interested, so it’s time to apply” and I think that this one can be the main point: curiosity.
    If it’s possible, I would like to keep in contact with you via email or LinkedIn to ask you other things on PhDs and the environment behind them. Is it possible?

    I would really have liked to have a PDF of your thesis statement.
    Since I began my undergrad SigPro BSEE I’ve been trying to read all my professors thesis papers to see what a PHD really means.

    How cool. So glad to find your channel through Anastasia’s video. I’m Asya, and I have Masters Degree in Power Engineering, however I moved to California and felt in love with IT. Currently taking edx course on AI and Python. Do you think it is realistic for me to get a job in AI, if I’ve been in Power industry for 6 years? Thanks ☀️

    • @janpancake
      @janpancake  3 роки тому +1

      Absolutely, I do. If you have the programming background, which you'll develop through Python courses, and if you have the domain knowledge, which you should gain by taking AI courses, I think your path to having a job where you're actually *doing* AI won't be direct, but you can definitely get there. I think you just need to find opportunities to gain experience. AI companies, e.g., in robotics or autonomous driving, would definitely have needs for power engineers. You could get your foot in the door by working at an AI company while doing work in power. But at the right company, you could then find a mentor on an AI team or start getting involved in projects where you're working more with AI engineers, and I think you would naturally build up some experience and be able to make a transition. Your path might not be direct or quick, but if you're able to find an appropriate company and take some initiative (and it sounds like you have it), I believe it can happen!
      I hope this helps! Good luck with your courses and pursuing that job :)

    Hello! After high school I became an electrician, that inspired me to go get a 2 year EE tech diploma, and then that allowed me to transfer into an EE diploma degree that I'm currentlytaking now. I have 2 years left for my EE degree and I'm getting a minor in physics. I want to work with antennas, wireless communication, really anything with EM radiation after I graduate.
    When I graduate from my EE degree and I will be 28 years old. I am currently thinking of trying to get a PhD when I'm around 34. Do you think is too old to try and go for a PhD? Can you be too old to get a PhD?

    • @janpancake
      @janpancake  3 роки тому +3

      Absolutely not. I don't think it's ever too late to get a PhD, especially if have purpose for pursuing one. Everyone has their own goals, and if getting a PhD is helpful to you achieving your goals, I don't think it's ever too late :)
