I recently moved from an area serviced by Comcast to a town serviced by Cox. I didn't know how good I had it. My Ubiquiti gateway frequently complains about latency issues and I see frequent (but brief) outages. If another carrier ever offers me fiber at this location, I'll probably make the switch and never look back.
i had mine for 2 months it has awesome speed never goes out thanks for this video .. i have a asus rt 86 u was wondering if i should hoook that up now i am for sure !!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Behfor, my RT-AC86U support is coming to an end by the end of 2024. Due to budget, I am only looking into the RT-AX86U Pro and RT-AX88U Pro. Is there a reason you opted for the RTAX86U and not the AX88U?
Hi, personally, I've had some issues with the RT-AX88U (non-Pro version) when I installed it for some people. For some reason it just wasn't as stable as the RT-AX86U. Because of that experience, I didn't feel comfortable recommending the AX88U, even though I haven't tried the Pro version yet. On the other hand, the RT-AX86U has been rock solid for me, which is why I chose it. Hope that helps.
Thanks Behfor. How did you determine the classification of the Good/Fair/Poor Ping and Jitter Rates? Is that based on an industry standard or available best practices recommendation?
Thanks for asking! The classifications are based on widely accepted industry best practices for a smooth online experience. Please note that these are general guidelines and actual performance can vary based on many factors.
My dad says our internet sucks we have WOW at our house and the modem is old and it took an hour to download the new macOS, it used to take several hours to restore my computer, i made a boot drive to speed it up
hi 2 router TP-Link Archer AX73 vs 2 router ASUS RT-AX55 which is better to buy? yes I plan to buy 2 router for big house with 2 floor, in my place is same range price. I look for who can cover more area and stable. I use 100 Mbps from my isp
How are you planning to connect the TP-LINK routers together?! With Asus you have the AiMesh option to set up a mesh network, with those TP-link router you don't have that option, you have to run a cable between them and use one as a router the other one as an access point.
@@Behfor yes exactly, I want use LAN cable to connect them. I think cat 6 will good enough, thanks for the answer. so what do you prefer? asus 55 or tplink 73?
@@Behfor both will use cable, sorry I forget tell you that. I cant tell which is better? because asus 55 have better cpu (quad core) but tplink 73 have more antena (6) and more ram (512)
I haven't tested either of them, but from looking at the specs, it appears that the TP-Link's Wi-Fi might be better as it is 4x4, while the Asus is 2x2. However, aside from Wi-Fi, the Asus has more advanced features. Depending on what your priority is, you should decide whether you want more features or better Wi-Fi. Again, I want to emphasize that I haven't tested them; this is based on the specs alone.
My experience so far is not good. I got it today and it wasn’t working. No outage. My house already has wired coax but in the box on my house it leads to nothing. We have to pay for a technician to fix it. I had cox from 2017-2021 then switched to CenturyLink. It went out too many times so we switched back. We think it’s better.
This router is so un-configurable it's sad. To my knowledge, you can even set DHCP reservations! Such an anti-network enthusiast router. For those who do not want to dig into their network and want a plug and play router, then this would be a great option. I hated this router when i had it though, Just my experience. EDIT: when i make it to the end of the video i will be so thankful if it helps my DHCP reservation problems

Thanks for making this video and keeping information about cox updated 👍🏽
You're very welcome 👍🏻

Glad this video was useful, thanks.
Your video is awesome but the modem doesn't look anything like mine. Thank you for putting this out there
The 2.5g would be useful if you have 4K POE Security Cameras. Of course, you would also need a 2.5g POE switch and adapter.
That makes sense, thanks 👍🏻
