Anyone else feel that Bruce's suicide attempt was overlooked for the rest of the movie and the rest of the MCU.
I'm with you, I would if at least liked one more scene with either him and tony or hell him and black widow, that would of made there romance in AOU more believable to most people who thought it was rushed or out of left field.
Oh thank God, I'm not the only one
if you really think about it Hulk as a whole got overlooked.
I’m with you man
@S. I. V. It's actually been confirmed that the scepter is affecting all of them in this scene and causing them to fight, which makes it a pretty cool scene, in my opinion. Rewatch the scene with that in mind, and you'll start to realize all these tiny little details. It's awesome.
The part where Banner shares his suicidal attempt just got to me. You really feel for him.
Studio2770 Agreed. When he looks at the sceptre with so much confusion, it's heartbreaking - to me, he seems scared that he's becoming like the Hulk when he realizes he picked that up. It's so sad - he's such a sweetheart.
Also Mark's portrayal is much more gentle than Eric's or Edward's. Mark is a very gentle man so seeing him become the Hulk is quite heartbreaking.
Rez I didn't even see that when I first saw this movie. I thought he meant he tried to kill the hulk, but he is the hulk!
Lol i wanna do that as well
Fuck life
And then fury puts his hands on his gun like it was gonna do anything. Dude just told you he shot himself in the mouth and still spit the bullet out.
Banner-"You can't! I know, I've tried!"
Everyone's heart is smashed into a million pieces.
Feels. Pure feels.
I get chills at that moment every time.
That explains what Bruce tried to do in the alternate opening in The Incredible Hulk.
@@fredrydmusic1 the incredible hulk movie is confirmed to be connected to the mcu, even though they are different actors
@@witchhunter7709 That's Right. First Edward Norton as Banner/Hulk in The Incredible Hulk and Terrence Howard as Rhodey in Iron Man 1.
@@fredrydmusic1 yeah, Terrence didn't like the pay he was getting
I love how Fury reaches for his gun right after Bruce tells him he tried to kill himself with a gun lol
MisterPringle
Bruce would've been sad and angry at this low point in his life causing him to turn into the hulk as he shot the gun, but if Nick suddenly shot him in the head he would die
Because that's worked in the past.
DIZZYD Who the fuck would banner die?
And Widow too
DIZZYD banner jumped out a plane and a helicopter and died but hulk came out and banner came back to life
Fun fact. When Banner is talking about his attempted suicide, it's a reference to the Deleted opening scene from The Incredible Hulk. It got cut out because marvel thought it was too dark to open a film on.
aderose Disney thought that it would be dark.
But Disney didn't own Marvel until 2009....
Yea but they put it as the opening to the Incredible Hulk game so alls almost forgiven as long as he’s given justice in A4: EndGame
Nah, it’s a reference to a comic book series written by Brian Azzarello called “Banner!” The first issue ends with Banner shooting himself in the mouth. The second issue starts with Hulk spitting the bullet out.
Even more funner fact: said scene made it into the Incredible Hulk movie game.
I think bruce is the only one who can be considered "in the right" in this scene. Even excluding the suicide story his arguement is basically "i am technically the only person on this team with a failsafe if things went wrong and I didn't even want to be here". Poor guy
I think Thor’s also like on the right, he just wants to take his brother and his property home, he didn’t particularly wanna be there
@@cryingattheclub5150 thor came to protect midgard first, take his brother back to asgard, and hide the tesseract. Yeah he is definitely on the right.
@@cryingattheclub5150 well thor coming brought bad things.
Here is the scene of Bruce traveling as far away from society as he can get to make his attempt. SHIELD was following him and when the ice broke, they found Captain America. If Hulk hadn’t saved Banner from the attempt, Captain America may not have been found and Professor Hulk wouldn’t have been there to do the blip to bring everyone back.

Marvin8861 Perhaps foreshadowing Captain America: Civil War.
Marvin8861 That's true, but what made Steve different was how he handled situations and how he treated people he knows he's going to stumble, fall, get beat up but he gets right back up and keeps going that's why the doctor chose him for the serum and not some random 6ft soldier. That soldier would no doubt abuse his new found abilities whereas Steve would be more cautious he thinks before he acts. Too bad Thor can't seem to learn that even Loki tried to teach his oaf of a brother that but Thor rather charge into a fight rather than think that's one of the reasons why I don't like him all that much. All his other teammates uses their heads but Thor just can't seem to do that he comes from a realm where all they give a shit about is fighting.
Marvin8861 I'm not afraid to hit an old man
Would you hit your own grandfather?
No...i just quoting stark response when rogers stop him
It's awesome how that one argument between Tony and Steve built up into them finally battling it out in Civil War.
+Derek Fisher Well yeah. I never said the two were related. I'm just pointing out that they've always had that animosity.
I agree. They have been building the arguments up since the first avengers movie. This scene where steve and tony first argue where steve tells him to "put on the suit" is the start. In age of ultron, theres the scene where tony says "i dont trust a guy without a dark side, call me old fashioned" which led to steves response of "lets just say you haven't seen it yet". To the part where they have a short fight. The build up was incredible, which was one of the reason why batman vs superman didnt seem to connect with me. Its because i thought they had a weak reason to fight. Marvel really is the best imo
he finally put on the suit
lmao just had to make that comparison.
its funny because i think the opposite. you're a billionaire crimefighter and suddenly one day, a war ensues between two aliens, in your planet. why does it have to be in your planet? and on top of that, the fight caused one of your buildings to collapse, killing thousands of people. people who work for you, who were probably once close to you. they weren't heroes, they were just people looking for a living. and suddenly they're dead.
and now there's this alien. he's the most powerful being in the universe (as far as your know). he's unchecked. he saves whoever he wants to save. what if one day he uses the power for evil? who can stop him? and how does he decide who to save? is one life worth less/more over the other? maybe the world is better off without superman. MoS wouldn't have happened if Clark hadn't tried to investigate his past. it was searching for his past that activated the beacon, that led Zod to earth. Maybe the world is better off without superman.
yeah weak reasons to fight.. sure...
yeah bvs wasn't a perfect movie (though the ultimate cut really redeemed it). but in terms of depth? BvS just has more of it than most films in the MCU.i mean come on, most MCU villains are just bent on conquering the galaxy or destroying earth. Zemo was weak as well. just a typical villain with revenge as the motivation. regardless of whether you like lex's incarnation or not, he was just a much more complicated character. he's not trying to conquer the world and nor is he trying to destroy the world. are his motivations clear? no. but it's a mixture of jealousy, god-complex, and insanity.
The funny thing is that Iron Man PROVED that he could go toe-to-toe with Cap in Civil War😂
Fun fact: When Tony was a kid, his dad always talked about how Cap was his 'greatest creation' which is why Stark is so sour towards Rogers.
Wouldn't you be if your dad ignored you for some other guy?
Didnt his dad record a message to Tony for the future? The one in IronMan2? Saying Tony will always be his greatest invenion of somtin
wrong go watch IRONMAN 2
Watch Iron man 2 dumbass
+KoOkiEzRoCkz he saw that decades after his dad died
It's amazing how extremely tense all these super soldiers and gods and assassins get when Banner speaks up.
Because the hulk cant be stopped unless he's thrown into space or the sun, even then im not sure he'll die. He gave even thanos a hard time.
***** yes he is...
***** Steve, yes he is...
Jorgen Schroen Actually Odin in Thor:The Dark World has stated that they are not gods although many people refer to them as such. Quote: "We are not Gods. We're born, we live, we die".
MagicCosmic10 i am referring to the source material. in norse mythologi they are gods. in MARVEL comics they are gods, Odin and Zeus are skyfathers. they just say they arent in the movies so they wont have christian fanatics at their heads. but they are as much "god" as any christian, islamic, and indian gods.
"you're a laboratory experiment, Rogers. everything special about you came out of a bottle" no ointment in the world can help that burn 🔥
+1983Dave1983 Well Tony's father favored Steve more than Tony, so it really doesn't matter.
Not even being frozen in ice for 70 years could heal that burn.
You know in the back of Cap's head while he beating Tony's face in at the end of Civil War he was thinking about this line.
He does have a point though. Without the Super Soldier serum used for Cap he would've been nothing but a weakling. What Stark has is all natural. His father always ignores him anyway so that's probably why he acts the way he does. Tony has proven you don't need super powers to be a superhero. What makes a hero super is doing what no ordinary being could possibly do. Deep down Iron Man really is a compassionate person, he just needs a little bit more understanding.
Yeah but he got that serum because he's special
I can never decide which is better:
Stark's line, "Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist"...
or the cut to Romanov nodding as if to say: "he has a point". :P
+nfinn42
Cap's reply: "I know men who have none of that worth ten of you."
+Isaac Gleeth (Midnight Legend) to me caps line is the finisher "Take that suit of armor, what are you?" nothing. and cap loved that when he disabled bis suit in cw which I found sad for tony bc he really isn't nothing without it :(
+mrwalnuthero **cap proved that he is nothing
+mrwalnuthero He is a genius, billionaire, playboy and a philanthropist without his suit. That is not nothing.
Most of us humans would pick that and want that over Cap's super serum powers.
Siran424
Steve knows guys without any of that, and they're ten times the man Tony is. Why? Because Tony only fights for himself.
Stane was selling Stark Industries weapons. Hammer and Vanko wanted to tear Stark down for their own reasons. Killian kidnapped Pepper to get Stark to help him iron out the kinks in Extremis.
Tony only pretends to be a hero, then he goes back to his alcohol.
I love when Cap calls out Tony about only fighting for himself and not making the sacrifice play and in that moment you can see that affected Tony. However, he covers it up with humor which is his defensive mechanism. This scene later leads to the end of the movie when he does sacrifice himself for others. That's great writing and brilliant acting by RDJ!
Clueless Gamers except in iron man 1 he started protecting people other than himself,Steve only knew him of like a day at most.
which movie is this ?
Avengers
Tezuka Saif are u for real?
It really cut deep for Stark because the whole reason he became IronMan was because he saw what his weapons were doing to people and he wanted to protect people. He is IronMan because he's willing to sacrifice everything to save people.

Ouch. This got personal quickly.
And then there's Thor. "You people are so pretty. And tiny."
+Madison Wakamatsu Makes sense. Thor's barely met Cap, Banner, Romanov and Tony so the Scepter's influence on him couldn't use anger like the rest. Instead it would just enhance his formerly vain, greedy, cruel, arrogant persona.
Basically what happened. I'm actually not sure he completely lost that side of him. At least we learn Tony isn't afraid to hit an old man.

"Everything special about you came out of a bottle"
The venom that Robert Downey Jr delivered that line with could kill a room full of cobras. They gave this scene a majestically executed level of tension because they hired good actors that knew what they were doing.
Michael Bay, you should take notes
chill dude, is just a good roast from rdj
Yeah he was wrong about that
Michael Bay, believe it or not, is a decent director. He just gets the Nickelback treatment because of Transformers but those movies are a technical masterpiece. Only someone with no knowledge of CGI/special effects would think Michael Bay movies suck.
They are visually stunning. Go watch Transformers 1 and then name me a single movie (besides another Transformers movie) that can even come close to the extravagance. Its beautifully rendered. They all are.
I'm not a Michael Bay fanboy (I dont actually even like the movies that much) but saying he's a bad director is just false.

You can feel all the emotion in Bruce's voice when he says that last line.
"Sorry kids, you don't get to see my party trick after all."
He's hurting, and I'm hurting.
Just after 02:03, Stark begins to momentarily resist the influence of the staff and realize something is wrong. At 02:46, everyone begins to realize something is wrong with them, but succumb to the power of the staff again after the alarm on the console begins to sound.
It's among a number of subtle things throughout the film that are easy to miss and require multiple viewings to pick up on.
I never though it was the scepter messing with their heads. That’s pretty cool
Thor trolling was PERFECT!!
I love how everyone snaps out of their aggression towards each other when Banner admits hits suicide attempt, especially Tony. He'd spent the majority of the time joking about the hulk, even trying to set him off, I think he instantly felt really guilty when he realised just how much suffering it causes Banner.

I love how when Tony and Steve are fighting and Steve goes and says "take that off, what are you?" and Tony goes "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" how it cuts to Widow and she just kinda tilts her head like "He's got a point". Tony Stark Rules.
+StuckinTime 4ever333
"I know guys who have none of that worth ten of you. And I've seen the footage; the only thing you really fight for is yourself."
Tony may be a genius, but he has never been a team player. He only tolerates them enough to get the job done and get back to his playboy lifestyle of "tits and wine." Any one of the Howling Commandos would have been worth 50 of him. And let's not forget he personally created the AI Ultron, trying to fight a war that hasn't started.
Also, Tony has only fought for himself. The first movie, he fights someone trying to take over his company who tried to kill him twice for revenge. Second, he fights someone who has a vendetta against him for Howard's actions and is working for someone who he embarrassed. He has an ego only surpassed by Doctor Doom (who doesn't exist in the MCU, as of right now).
Steve is 100% right
+StuckinTime 4ever333 hehhehheh. put on the suit lets go for a few rounds
+Isaac Gleeth (Midnight Legend) stark still has way more and better personality then cap. Captain America is just a powerless dull superman
Dragonval Dean
Yeah, the personality of a rich, egotistic alcoholic who thinks he knows everything. Cap is a leader who never leaves a man behind.
+Isaac Gleeth (Midnight Legend) Does it matter who's personality is better than the others, though? A hero's purpose is to help those in need, and I'd say that's exactly what the two of them do. For Cap to say that Iron Man isn't a real hero is just plain false.
2:14
The exact moment my heart sank like a brick.
man ruffalo played this scene so badass, especially at 2:55 when he walked away with that line like a boss
"Oh a hero? Like you? You're a laboratory experiment, Rogers. Everything "special" about you came out of a BOTTLE"
Ouch.
Me too, my bottle just happened to be Jack Daniel's.
Barack Osama Meh, he deserved that. With everything he was talking about before that line he was basically saying that Stark didn't deserve to be a part of the team and was even saying that everything Iron Man has done isn't hero worthy. Also, considering Stark's personality, he was actually just being sarcastic in his own responses before Cap decided to be a jerk and hit Tony were it hurts, aka, his self-worth.
Besides, *almost* everything Cap is DID come out of a bottle, a serum that someone else made. Where does Cap get off telling people who can and can't be a hero?
I love Cap, believe me, but his arrogance was rude and uncalled for.
(Yes, I know they were being influenced, but that doesn't change the fact that they were all talking crap. They were saying things they all already thought but would supposedly never say. They *want* to say it but they *won't*.)
DragonFireFly100 Can't blame a man for saying what he thinks when he's under the influence. Surely he'd have held back in normal circumstances, don't think the heroes can really be held responsible for what happens in this scene.
As for his thoughtcrimes, well, Cap comes from simpler times. Makes sense that a guy like Stark rubs him the wrong way, especially with the chaos he brings (opposite of the military). Only those close to Stark know what he's really like, and the two only just met. So the little Cap does know is the absurd image Stark likes to show off to the public - the big tower, the womanizing, the narcissism, etc. He wouldn't come off as heroic to me, either.
cordlc I understand that Cap comes from simpler times, but even back then 'don't judge a book by it's cover' was something almost everyone understood. Cap's a nice guy, so that's why I find it arrogant of him to not get to really know someone before he jumps to conclusions like he did here. It was very OOC of him.
Also, just because you can't blame the characters for being under the influence of the scepter doesn't make what they wanted to say any less than what they wanted to say. They may have never said it under normal circumstances but they were still thinking it, and that still makes them all rude.
Tony was a jerk. Cap was a jerk. Natasha was a jerk. Banner was a jerk. Thor was a jerk. Fury was a jerk. Everyone was being a jerk.
Barack Osama "You're just a robot Batman !"

"The cell was just--"
"In case you needed to kill me, you CAN'T, I know, I'VE TRIED."
And how everyone just shuts up-- YES EVEN THE GODLY THOR --because when you're in a room with a depressive supergenius who was brought back to death because of his alter ego, a guy who all his life was shunned, hunted down, spat on, despised and made miserable, a guy who'd rather be working on machines, experiments and myths than being in a room-filled with machines, experiments and myths, a guy who you just don't want to piss off no matter what, a guy who just wants to go home and forget everything, you know you shouldn't be walking around bragging about your godliness, your patriotism, your realist views and your traitorous faces. You know something's wrong with you if you walk around waving your problem like a flag when there's a guy in the room everyone calls a "walking problem".
He suffered through his childhood and wished to fix things like any other kid. Until he got bombarded by gamma rads, then he just ended up making everything worse for everyone. His whole life turned upside down when the military--his girlfriend's dad-- decided to hunt him down, his girlfriend becoming terrified of him, everyone who sees him becomes terrified, and now, he just got kidnapped to defend the earth from god-know-who by a bunch of military people who aren't telling him what he wants to know, he who became a human atomic landmine, the guy who is in the very room you're standing in and you still get the guts to start a fight about whose problems are bigger than whose?
If only I've forgotten the whole movie, I'd have reason why I wanna ask how he can still stay calm knowing all that.
You just made me cry
Everyone seems to focus on Cap and Stark in this scene, but goddamn you hit the nail right on the head on what this scene is REALLY about. Everything you just said is why Bruce is easily my favorite Avenger. Not The Hulk, but Bruce.

Everyone's all team cap or team iron and I'm just trying here being team hulk
The King of the Penguins so true. Why can't everyone just appreciate Bruce? He's amazing.
Me too
personally, i’m team thor
Why is no one talking about how heartbreaking it is when Bruce just casually mentions suicide? I was kind of young-ish to understand its implications when I first saw this movie but re-watching this now, it's heartbreaking.
''in case you needed to kill me but you cant. I know, ive tried''
im on fucking tears
I like how Fury and Romanov grab their guns as Banner is getting angry, like that's actually going to do anything to him if he turns into the Hulk...
Bruce Banner is a special character. He hates the pain he has to face. He hates to hurt people. He wants to live life normal. He’s tried to killed himself because life is just failing.
The build up towards the first Hulk-out in Avengers was amazing.
How come Samuel L Jackson always plays a black guy?
Nice.
I'm not sure. I suppose we'll never find out
+chess marline Maybe you should ask him, instead of us.
Why ask a stupid question?
+James Landon why be a serious dick?
who else but me loved that line Capt gave "put on the suit let's go a few rounds"
kevin najera Spoiler alert for the civil wars movie
+kevin najera also "put on the suit lets find out"
Kevin Najera that was the hardest line in the entire movie....cap called him out 3 times!! That man was ready for war!
I love this scene so much the pain in banner’s eyes as he tells his story is so genuine it makes everyone feel for him, I wish they would have had more scenes of his past in the story a movie of this actors hulk and his back story would be really amazing
What a scene! Also when capt rogers speaks, everybody listen
Bruce would've killed everyone (except Thor) if he raged right then and there, because no matter how little the gamma radiation came from the scepter, would've been a major boost to the Hulk.
It's great to know that they were setting up for Cap 3 even this early on.
Even though the hulk is the most destructive beings on the planet.
He's also the most humble human.
He's probably murdered a lot of people that didn't deserve it, including people he knew, so you gotta think his empathy is higher than anyone.
@@geordiejones5618 when the hulk accidentally kills people he feels bad about it
put on the suit... ahh prelude to civil war
1:59
Bruce: "Make me angry and call me that again...!"
Ok, Bruce had attempted suicide multiple times, but you gotta remember the more important thing: She-Hulk gets catcalled.
* World's tiniest violin plays *
Damn sexy hulk though
"We're a timebomb" is so satisfying to listen at lmao buffalo is the best
She hulk: But have you been catcalled?
2:54 "sorry kids you don't get to see my party trick after all" always loved that line!
Funny how everybody just freaks out when Banner starts to get annoyed.
"hey look one of our planes is approaching us!"
"should we try and communicate with them to make sure they're not a threat?"
"naaah, Hey look they're opening the door way before they're supposed to land"
"and one of our best agents is in the back with his bow out!"
"hey barton! good to see you!"
*boom*
"OMG they shot at us!"
you heard the quinn jet pilot speaking to the helicarrier right? plus 1st gen helicarrier was unarmed
Shea Lupkes This would be really funny if it wasn't so wrong.
Destiny Darren I didn't bother to fact check, my bad
Shea Lupkes I know, I know. It's just that you're on UA-cam where you can watch clips over and over again. Kinda hard to miss things when you have such opportunities at your fingertips.
Destiny Darren which I did, but I was too lazy to change it at the time
“I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out.”
When I first watched this movie as a kid I had no idea what that meant but now it hits me right in the feels.
2:06 if you look at Stark, he was wiping his head because he felt the mind stone taking over.
Huum... What?
Gah that line of Bruce's. Gets me every time, and usually lasts for the rest of the movie.
The part in which Bruce said In case you needed to kill me,but you can't,I know,I've tried.in theater you could hear every heart break.
To go from this dark hulk angry and cool to she hulk is such a damn shame I miss the mcu b4 it was the msheu
1:56
In due time, Cap. In due time.
He had to wait 4 Years to take on Tony !!!
He got that and got smashed
Margaret Elizabeth Carter but he didn’t.
Lucifer exactly it took him and Bucky and they still barely won 😂
lol except he and Bucky were getting their asses kicked by tony till the very end
Those were good times. We really should have delved deeper into that.
perfect dynamics in this scene. banner's "you're renting my room!" is perfect, hah
"I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out. That's why my face is different than the old records; there was superficial damage and when I was healed I had a new face."
The scepter is making them hostile and sort of drunk, part of lokis plan. Thats why they are acting weird and they keep using dutch angles. its also why tony got a headache and banner was holding the scepter.
Didn't realize at the time watching it in theaters but Captain America and Tony arguing the hardest and longest was straight foreshadowing to the eventual showdown in Captain America 3 Civil War and the Marvel Civil War in the comics
They can be seen arguing again in a short clip for avengers 2, captain got so angry he ripped a log in half lol.
I've been rewatching a lot of the movies lately in anticipation, and I've realized that everything has been leading up to Civil War. The repeated arguments between Cap and Tony, in this as well as Age of Ultron. The repeated mentioning across many movies about how the Avengers have too much power. The lack of restraints in creating Ultron and taking down SHIELD. The Hulk destroying the city in Age of Ultron (they said afterward that people were talking about arresting him). The references in this scene and the scene right before this to all of the destruction that Thor and Hulk were affiliated with. Everything.
"I control my anger more better than you!"
I'm on Stark's side on that little argument.
Just cause he's a billioner playboy philantropist? :)
That's basically it, yeah! :D Nice reference.
Max Hadrian
and he's a genius one at that! don't forget the brains :P
Then you're on the wrong side.
But Capt will show you with a fist to your face.
You can see from 2:33 to 2:48 that they all fear Banner.
Yes exactly. Many didnt noticed it. This was the scariest of bruce in MCU. From then on to endgame, he was made into a funny one. Not cool marvel, not cool
