Maybe it’s time for the cruise lines to start selling the ship itself as the destination in lieu of ports. I have no desire to visit the Bahamas so a cruise to that area would leave me staying on the ship the whole time.
@@susananderson1579 clearly the younger generations like the bigger ships because that’s what’s selling. The baby boomer generation can stick with Regent and the Viking River cruises 😉
The bigger the ship, the bigger the logistic problems. Port facilities, embarkation and debarkation, port access, restocking and availability of ports to name a few.
With more and more ports wanting to cut back on cruise passengers seems crazy to make more and more of those mega ships!… thanks for all the newsy videos! 😊

Base on what I have been hearing some persons have been saying including myself the big ships are to big and like myself I will be cruising on mid size ships. I would be wondering how your viewers would vote on this. Just a thought
My wife and I did the inaugural sailing on the Icon of the seas for about $750 per person with an Ocean View Balcony Reserve. My wife booked on the day bookings opened. Everything was working and open to my knowledge. If your travel agent isn't getting these deals for you you should probably change agents.
I'm happy that you got a great deal and everything was working and open. I like to do my homework still no guarantee. I can wait after the first year. The cruise line work out the problems if there is any.
We were just in Turkey in the last two weeks. Istanbul was amazing and all the other ports were great. No safety issues. Most likely, the comments are military related.
Enough of these super-big cruise ships. I've been on a couple of them and I much prefer the smaller ones. Seriously, as a lady, I'm just not impressed.
B. On our 25th anniversary we took a Panama Canal cruise on a ship that was celebrating its 25th anniversary. Pure coincidence. It was a Royal Caribbean ship that has long since been scrapped. We just celebrated 55.
A yes went on Eurodams . Several minor glitches but not enough to not go on another inaugural. Each of our ports on that trip had nice welcome event, a costumed group with a herald welcoming ceremony. We had a church open their community room with free cookies and lemonade. Several street corners of the port had young people playing a violin ( just to entertain not begging)
B-no. I don’t think I really want to ever go on an inaugural either. The way I look at it that first waking is like buying a new car in its first model year or first year of a new generation, there are always bugs & kinks that need to be worked out. Also, from what I’ve seen you pay a premium to be on that first sailing and the only real benefit is you get to say you were first but nothing really tangible.

It’s a nifty little ship, we did 42 days on the Pride last summer when we had the propulsion disaster. The vast majority of people debarked and we had the entire ship to ourselves for days, only 250 or so passengers!

Inaugural year, yes, Inaugural sailing NO. I just went on the Utopia a month after their inaugural sailing. RC was very smart in staffing their newest Icon Class ship with experienced crew so that the cruise went very well without any significant problems.
