    Thanks for the Video Nick, my 2007 TC seems to get real good gas mileage for its heft, once I thought the gauge or the sending unit was broken because the gas gauge needle was not moving, after three days of driving it then started to move. I was Impressed at the gas mileage. I will definitely however dump a can of the berry stuff to clean the injectors and get a little more mileage from her. Thanks Nick...

      No problem John! Pay attention to your idle too after you run a full can and tank through your car. I noticed my TC idling way smoother!

    I have a 2002 Town Car that I bought in 2007. At least once a year, I usually drive from Maryland to Florida and back, and each one way trip is 815 miles. It's about 99% highway driving, and I have always checked the miles per gallon. On every trip, the mpg will vary a little, depending on weather, backups from road construction, accidents, heavy traffic in various cities, and how fast I drive.
    I have been adding a can of Berryman's B-12 Chemtool once or twice a year for about the past eight years. In the same time frame, I have also been using 4 ounces of Marvel Mystery for every 10 gallons of gas at virtually every fill up. Since I have been using these additives, my mpg has increased by at least 1 to 2 more mpg on the highway.
    My best mpg on one of these trips was 25.7, and this was due to great traffic conditions, and driving at 70 mph or under.
    Both Berryman's and Marvel Mystery Oil have been around for over 100 years, so they must be doing something right.

      25.7 is pretty impressive! Thanks for the input!

Always been real happy with that. I’ll gladly pay whatever to enjoy the privilege of comfort, style and reliability! Thanks for the content! Keep it coming!

    Wonder if the increase was mainly due to the filter change or the additive?

    • @GetThisNick
      @GetThisNick  7 місяців тому +1

      Yeah it’s hard to pinpoint it due to me doing both on the same day. I’m sure both helped, but just by reading reviews of the product and seeing some comments on here it seems like the additive alone gets people an increase of about 2-3 MPG. Those gains seemed pretty common across the board

    I ran a couple of cans of the royal purple injector cleaner through my 2008 TC over the course of 2 tanks/600 miles or so. After I was getting 2-3 mpg better in mixed driving so id say it was definitely worth it, especially considering the cans are like 7 bucks each. In a prolonged highway trip I needed to do I averaged 26.8 mpg as well. Depending on circumstances and driving styles these cars are really not at all bad on fuel, they take regular as well when a lot of more modern cars require/prefer mid or high grade.

    • @GetThisNick
      @GetThisNick  7 місяців тому +1

      Based off reviews of the Berrymans I used, it seems like that 2-3 MPG more average seems to be pretty common. I definitely agree that it’s worth it especially considering you could get this bottle shipped to your door for under $5! Plus I feel like I noticed the car running smoother and better at idle too

    Well the older town cars I think in 96 my friend had he got 26 MPG in about 2005. This was before the 2007 nationwide fuel formula change that they never told anybody about we all just lost anywhere from 40 to 80 MPG per tank. Also you are running winter blend fuel and that is a hit. I have tweaked mileage in the past usually with oversized tires and the now super ultra platinum synthetic motor oil that Ford boss has on his channel. I take my readings strictly on the highway for best results.

    • @GetThisNick
      @GetThisNick  7 місяців тому +1

      Lots of great points! I know A LOT of factors come into play regarding MPG like fuel, wind, tire size, elevation, etc BUT I tried to do just a casual test with just a half hour cruise. I truly do think that fuel additive did help me though, especially in my situation where I have a 20 year old that wasn’t driven much before I got it. Thanks for always checking out the channel!

    I have a 2010 Mercury grand marquis and it gets TERRIBLE fuel economy, I drive like a normal human being with a brain, but if I do short trip city driving it gets 10-13 mpg and if I do like town to town city driving like driving through towns at 46-55mph I get around 15-17mpg and on the highway from Joliet to Chicago I get 18-23 mpg. I took my car to Las Vegas and Virgina and it averaged on the highway just straight highway driving like 24mpg and I feel like it isn’t getting good enough gas mileage like some people are reporting. I replaced literally everything to help improve it like spark plugs and coils, fuel filter, PCV valve fuel treatment in the tank when I took it cross country. And it still doesn’t get good fuel economy. The engine runs perfectly fine and it’s healthy but I just don’t know why it does that. I don’t drive it that much anymore with these gas prices and that car getting terrible fuel economy. It only has 106k miles and it’s a great car, it’s just not good on gas. Idk 🤷‍♂️

    • @GetThisNick
      @GetThisNick  7 місяців тому +1

      Hmmmm the first thing I was going to mention was the fuel filter and fuel treatment like I did but you had already mentioned it.. is the car completely stock? Any aftermarket parts like exhaust or intake or anything? Performance modifications would cause it to consume more fuel

    • @thegamingangel5666
      @thegamingangel5666 7 місяців тому +2

      @@GetThisNick it’s 100 percent bone stock, I even cleaned the maf sensor and has a clean air filter. The mercury’s are the least powerful engines of the three it has 225hp and a single exhaust. And I pretty much always keep it under 2k rpm so you’d think it’ll get great fuel economy but it doesn’t, like I knew I’d wouldn’t be a Prius but at least get decent fuel economy or close to what the sticker said but no. Maybe I can try the bottle you mentioned and see if it improves 🤷‍♂️

      @@GetThisNick I will, the only thing I can imagine could affect fuel economy could be the transmission because we’ve never replaced the transmission fluid, but it shifts and runs perfectly fine and smooth but you never know the old fluid and lots of friction can affect the performance and efficiency of the transmission. I literally replaced all the fluids except the transmission fluid because I’m nervous that’ll it could damage the transmission instead of fixing it.

      It may be possible that the gear ratio differs between the two! Look into it. I know for a fact that the transmission is a bit differently built in your 06 at least electronically. Those would be two things I can think of at the top of my head! On top of what you mentioned what you changed in it.
      Also if you haven't changed your o2 sensors yet I definitely would! Chances are they are still original and they are greatly responsible for your fuel ratio! And you don't necessarily need a check engine light on for o2 sensor to be on since they are still working but may be on borrowed time since they are pretty much shot! Good luck!

    • @markchimmy
      @markchimmy 5 днів тому

      Also it is important not to buy cheap o2 sensors either! But good quality brand!

    Great video... these are heavy bloated cars, heavy bulky wasteful body on frame body, big heavy cast iron engine block, heavy wasteful solid axle, big non-compact transmission case, aerodynamics of a brick, old fashioned 80's tech transmission, 80's tech engine and fuel system, non-turbo, non VVCT, non-low resistance piston oil control rings, on and on, but in spite of all this these cars get the same mpg as a 2024 Honda Odyssey or similar weight vehicle with 40 years of newer tech and advancements.... You can not do better than a Town Car.... when the 4.6 hit the streets in March of 1991 in the 91 LTC and 92 Grand marquis/CV these cars were shocking everyone at how powerful they were for that day and the crazy good mpg....people was trading in their gutless 84 Delta 88's that got 11 mpg in town 19 mpg highway with no power for a new 92 Grand Marquis that got 16 mpg city and 27 mpg hwy....remember these early 90's ones were 300-400 lbs less in weight vs the last gen... Great Video..
    If you absolutely baby these cars, you can get 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the open road if you keep the speed to 55 mph and baby it...not bad at all for 80's tech in such a heavy vehicle....
