heyo you have to download smapi to get the mods folder. i didn't know that when i made this video oops.
theres no mod folder even tho i downloaded it

@@jenna2944 I haven't downloaded SDV mods before, so I don't know how it works, but from downloading mods for TheSims, I know you can make a folder named Mods yourself and put your mods in there - idk if it works with SDV though!
@@3Kat33I did this and it worked!!! I just put the mod folder into my steam elements and that got it working!!!
For anyone having issues downloading Smapi, I kept having the same issue but this is how I fixed it!
After clicking the "Install on MacOs.command" , you might have something show up that won't let you open the file because it is flagged as an unidentified developer. Go to your settings and then to "privacy and security" and scroll all the way to the bottom where it says "allow application downloaded from". Make sure you clicked the one that says "App store and Identfied developers" and right bellow that you need to click the button allowing access to Smapi.
That should allow your mac to open up your terminal. Then in the terminal, type 1 and enter and then type 1 and enter again. Your mods folder should show up after this!
IF THIS STILL ISNT WORKING go back to privacy and security in your settings. Go to Files and Folders and click the terminal icon and switch it to allow access to Desktop Folders. It should work after that. You may need to redownloaded Smapi and try it again.

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial :) Just wanted to ask, didn't you have to install some software called mono to be able to make SMAPI work? I've read you need it on the Stardew Valley wiki 😅 Thanks

this video was so easy to follow! i do have a question tho, my friend and i are playing a vanilla co-op and i want to play a modded single player world, do i have to manually remove the mods every time i play? or can i like "turn them off"?
I'm sorry for the late response and you may have already gotten help. Some mods use the menu configurations to turn them off or on. I got this other info from the reddit thread r/SMAPI, and I haven't tried it myself so take it with a grain of salt.
You can make another folder and title mods_(farm name) so SMAPI can't read it, and put those mods there. Then when you want to use it you can rename it Mods so SMAPI knows to read it

Im having a problem :(
Whenever i try to open stardew i keep getting a message saying it cant be opened because its not allowed to open documents in terminal! i have no idea how to fix it
apologies for the really late response somehow this comment slip through the cracks. i hope that you fixed this issue by now. from what i researched terminal refers to the interface for text based commands. i would check the mods specific forum and see if this is a problem other users are having. i would also try to uninstall the mod and reinstall and see if that fixes the issue.

I don't have a mods folder what do I do?? I downloaded smapi and it's still not working and I just tried making my own folder and that didn't work either
edit: i figured it out!! if you're sturggling too you might have to go into the smapi folder you installed (should be called "SMAPI 4.0.4 installer") and open 'install on macos.command" and follow all of the instructions. The mod folder should be there afterwards!

@@ImVeryTiredZz OKAY I FIGURED IT OUT -- After clicking the "Install on MacOs.command" in smapi folder, you might have something show up that won't let you open the file because it is flagged you right click that then click open in terminal and it should tell u what to do from there
@@ImVeryTiredZz if you download smapi there's gonnabe a folder called smapi installer or something like that. You open that folder and click install on Mac. It'll guide you through everything once you open that! It will just have you press different numbers depending on your settings and preferences and then when you go back and browse local files under stardew it should be there! Hope this helps, lmk if it doesn't work and I can try to help you out :)

hey, I was wondering if anyone knew what to do if the mods folder didn't show up? I have everything there but all the folders don't show up, it's just a list of the content like at 5:44, but without all the folders. is there anything I'm doing wrong?
make sure you downloaded smapi something i didn't know when making this video was that smapi makes the mod folder. also make sure you write Mods instead of mods cause the mac search engine is really specific
what do i do with the zips after, is it okay if i move them to trash or will that mess up the mods?
you can move them to trash.
I followed all these steps but when I open the game none of my mods are there, can someone help please 😓
all i could think of is to just redo the process and see if that works. also perhaps one of the mods you downloaded needs an update and that’s why it isn’t working.

i have heard of mods not working if they weren’t calibrated for a new update taht could be the case check out the mod’s forum for more speific advice

you can also make sure you download smapi before looking for your mods folder because smapi makes the mods folder

That could have to do with what mods you added. I would check under the nexus forum and see if that is a common problem with that particular mod. If not delete the mod specific files and try the process again. Maybe you missed something the first time

i reccomend unstalling smapi and reinstalling smapi and see if the mods folder appears. also you may just be skipping it on accident you can search up "Mods" within your game files
hiii i did everything in this video but for some reason, it isn’t working :(
when the code was running, it says “[SMAPI] Found 1 mod with warnings” and i’ve downloaded all the required files for that mod but it still doesn’t work.

that sounds like a specific issue pertaining the mod so I would check the mod's forum to see if others have the same issue. maybe that mod is no longer compatible with the current version of smapi.

This could a problem with the mod you're installing for that I would check out the mod forum for specific tips. I've never heard of SHELL files so I can't give you any help there

when you buy stardew from steam you can install it and it should be on your computer

@@hormotionalyea some mods clash with eachother like i wouldnt download two mods that change villagers outfits cause they wouldn’t work together.

when you download from an unidentified developer go to your settings and go to privacy and security. there you can press a button called Open Away

No the mods should work regardless. If you are using a specific mod and its not showing than I recommend looking at the mod's specific forum.

you have to make sure you downloaded smapi before the mods folder can appear. if you downloaded smapi and you still can’t find it make sure you search up Mods(with a capital M) in your files to see if you can find it through that

@@ilikefruitsm if you think it could be something with the mod than check the mods forum if nobody else has that problem maybe try to see if restarting your computer would work
