This video popped up just as I was telling my wife I wanted more syngoniums and I needed them soon😅😅😅😅😅you are right on time..I told babe this is a sign from the plant gods
I haven't yet..I'm trying to find a reputable place because I ordered cactus plants from home Depot and they all came in a mess...the packaging was extremely awful and the plants were dry to the bone ..I ordered 6 and I lost two completely and the others are in the hospital 🏥....I will never order online from them again.. in-store is best if you go to them....
I can absolutely recommend Syngonium Podophyllum Mottled “Mojito”. Mine grows like a weed. Apart from that I like Syngonium Starlite because it’s much more delicate in it’s growth and tends to stay smaller.
How would you rate it in term os light requirements? Compared to a variegated or non variegated Philo? My mojito hasn't grow a single leaf and I got it several months ago
Mine grew like a weed too. It's at the top of its 50cm moss pole ready to be chopped and propped. Great variegation. Mine's in the middle of two grow lights
@@JohnGSilver it’s more like a non-variegated Philo I guess. I have mine in a shaded east facing window, no grow lights. Is yours a cutting/small plant or mature? I got my plant real small and it took about half a year before it started growing. I assumed it needed to grow roots first. So don’t give up hope just yet.
Mine is in an east facing window with direct light in the morning. It didn't do much for 6 months or so but then started growing like a weed too. It must have put on about 1m (3 feet) in about 4 months! It's growing as a single vine though and I'd prefer something a little more bushy so I'm going to chop it up this weekend and replant the props in the same pot once they have roots. I don't know if single vine is it's normal growth pattern, I'm used to a bushier growth patterns from other syngoniums.
🇦🇺🙋🏻 hi Memo, plant UA-camrs are my enablers 😅 and there's only a handful of you that I watch! But I do have my favourite online nurseries, one which does give a freebie according to how much you spend - more enabling lol. I bought some syngoniums when I was trying out passive hydro for the first time, I still have them so they must be tough lol. I love my Mojito, my first moss pole plant, Mine's very dark green when I thought it was going to be more minty. Batik is another on a moss wall and has grown really well, chiapense and frosted both on poles and doing super well, and I have literally just ordered the Syngonium erythrophyllum! It will arrive on Thursday - blaming aloha plant life for that purchase lol. I'm on the look out for mini pixie! A tiny pot of tiny plants - so cute! Thanks for another interesting segment Memo, have a great week
Helly, Chris! 🌍🌿 It sounds like you're quite the collector! Those moss poles must look amazing. Enjoy your new Syngonium erythrophyllum, and thanks for the kind words! 🌱 I hope you have a great week too 😊
I have over 30 different Syngoniums. My favorites are regular confetti, Angustatum, Go Glo, Albo, Aurea, Godzilla, Margarita, Three Kings and of course Chiapense and Variegated Chiapense. And yes I have my Nursery that gets ALL my money. Shout out to Wild Roots, New Braunfels, Texas USA! 😂💖
Hello Memo. You are right. Syngonium strawberry ice is a slow grower plant... And if humidity is not enough, leaves newer fully open. I took it from soil to clay. I wish it wiil work :)
Thanks for featuring the Maria! I agree it's totally underrated, and I think you addressed why mine hasn't been doing well. I didn't know that new leaves are red. I thought they were wilting so I removed them. 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀
Thanks for sharing your experience with Maria! 😄 It's easy to mistake those new red leaves for something wrong. Glad you now know they're just part of her charm! Keep growing! 🌱
Great vid! My wentlandii is also proving to be very unproblematic. Got an erythrophyllum on the way - should get here this coming week. So excited! Am utterly enamoured with my "mottled" - it's quite the showstopper,
My poison for pink syngoniums is the Red Spot cos mine has lots of darkish pink splotches and speckles and the leaves are a darker shade of green. My Erythrophyllum is still small as it's relatively new in my collection. And yes a loyalty card from Bunnings from me would be AWESOME just like they do with coffee...every 10th plant I buy should be free 😆 And yeah the Butterfly one here is like a weed, growing EVERYWHERE (at least in Sydney). Am still thinking of getting the Wendlandii but keep passing by it because of its velvetiness. And will definitely look out for the Chiapense! I also have the Frozen Heart which reminds me of your chiapense but it doesn't feel rubbery. But my all time favourite syngonium is the Panda...yeah go figure!
Great collection Memo! I love syngoniums but I can't seem to find anything else than a White Butterfly in my local shops! I was lucky to get my hands on a Mottled aka Mojito last fall, I need to chop and prop it 'cause it's grown into a very long single vine. I'm not one for pink variegation normally but that Milk Confetti is gorgeous! Love the light minty green of it. Will have to keep an eye out for it! I've been pining for a Llano-Carti Road for years now but no luck so far. 😕. Love the dark drama of it. 😍
Thanks so much! 😊 It's always a hunt for those rare finds, isn't it? Milk Confetti's charm is hard to resist. Best of luck finding the Llano-Carti Road! 🌿🍀
Syngoniums are so pretty. I always wanted one, but they just slipped my mind when purchasing plants. Or it was in my shopping cart, but when it came to pre-checkout cleanup of the cart, it went out again. Last summer I got a Syngonium erthrophyllum and I was immediately in love with those dramatic dark green and red leaves. I love the P. micans for the same reason. It has given me some grief, but that was the planter's fault. Do you know how they sometimes leave the nursery net on the rootball when repotting? With this it wasn't just a net, it was a small, really robust plastic pot. I thought the poor plant was having root rot, because the soil was sogging wet and it showed symptoms of being thirsty. Fortunately I caught it before it came to that, but it still had been a few weeks of this. This little champion was healthy, just a bit uncomfy in the tiny container. So yeah, definitely a hardy plant ❤
So glad you discovered the beauty of Syngonium erythrophyllum, Silvia! 🌿 Those unexpected plant packaging surprises can be quite the challenge, but sounds like you handled it well! 🌱💚
Hi Linda! 🌿 Exciting times with the new Chiapense arrival! 🎉 The chickens are clucking along nicely, thanks for asking! 2 new ones added last week, will do a little update soon🐔
The second one you showed I bought under the name, “holly?” Mine was so so compact when I got it and all tiny leaves in the middle started dying. 😭 so I thought let me separate it out and noticed it had a huge root plug. Anyways it died and I was super sad. My problem with syngoniums is I love on them (over water) too much! Yet I have a greenish pink one in leca and it's so so happy. 🤷♀️I also have one in my bathroom with a lot less light but higher humidity and it's looking pretty good. I have the milk confetti, Maria, and the chiapense (my favorite plant of all time)! Syngoniums are ny favorite! I just got a mojito and the wendlandii which is my second go with the wendlandii 😂😂. Love those velvet leaves
Oh no, so sorry to hear about the Holly! 😢 It sounds like you have a real knack with other varieties, though. Your love and persistence with Syngoniums are inspiring! Keep enjoying those lush leaves! 🌿💚
I do love a lush Syngonium. One of my favorites is the three kings variety. I also really like the more compact ones like pixie and holly. I’m not as big of a fan of all the “allusion” varieties, they all look the same to me. One I want to like but have struggled with is the starlite with its narrow variegated leaves.
Three Kings is a royal pick indeed! 🌿 The more compact varieties have their charm, right? Starlite can be a challenge but stick with it; they're worth the effort! 🌟
I don’t have the greatest luck with Syngonium Podophyllum. They survive, but they don’t seem to thrive in my house. I have Neon, Milk Confetti and an unknown one that looks like it might be Maria. I also have a Llano Carti Road which is doing ok. And my FAVORITE one which is Frosted Heart. I think Frosted Heart is a variation of Chiapense, because it has those fabulous rubbery leaves. It has the white frosty pattern to the leaves, particularly the newer leaves, and despite that, it also grows pretty fast. I also very much want a Chiapense Albo! It might be a while, they seem to have gone up in price recently here in the Minneapolis, MN area of the US.
Thanks, Eric! 🌿 It sounds like you have a wonderful variety of Syngoniums. The Frosted Heart does have those amazing leaves! Keep your eyes peeled for that Chiapense Albo-they're worth the wait and price! 🌱❄️
@@Houseplantygoodness I will definitely make the Chiapense Albo mine some day. 😁 In the mean time, I also have 55 types of Philodendron to keep me busy, and doubles of a few of them. They account for about 1/2 of my collection. My dream would be to have a have a conservitory some day. Yours is very cool, and I love how huge your style plants grow in there!
.. There's low light, medium light, indirect light, indirect bright light and bright light.. Low light = shaded light, medium light = partly shaded light.. And that is measured by the natural light is outside.. .. The Red Arrow can be a puzzle to find the perfect light, depending of where we live.. I lost few leafs on mine while trying to find the right spot, and still I'm not certain.. But for now, she seems happy on a shelf in a west side room a little sideways from the window out of sun and direct light.. .. My Pink Splash was very pale in the pink when I got her.. Now 2 years later her pale pink colour comes out way darker showing off, it's a wow.. It is a plant that is in no hurry to grow up.. .. All the rest of them I have been waiting to see them grow, since I got them late last year from a local grocery store, and some of them have been struggling over the winter.. The white butterfly takes off as if the devil was coming to get it.. A favourite?? 😳 But I love them all.. I started out with white butterfly and when I watched them grow I fell in love with their different coloured leafs.. Not two leafs are the same.. And once you fall in love, there's no way back..
Wow, what a detailed journey with your plants! 🌱 It sounds like you're really attuned to their needs. Keep nurturing them, and I'm sure they'll continue to thrive and surprise you with their beauty. 🌿💖 Here's to many more growing seasons together!
Philodendron Rugosum is another plant that feels like rubber. Mine has morphed into adult leaves on a moss pole but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for the Chiapense. 😁🌿 I just purchased a frosted ice syngonium and will be putting that one on a moss pole shortly.
I had an syngonium at my first place but sadly no longer have it. Now that I know more about plants I’m keeping my eye out for a milk confetti as I love the pink speckling. Love the video thanks for sharing ❤
Muddy with pink, sounds like you are describing a pink princess but more compact. But I do like 3 syngoniums, the chiapense and the white variegated and would love to find an affordable variegated chiapense ( with white sectoral variegation ). I have the wenlandii in a dartfrog paludarium and it thrives there as a climber. I do have some garden centers that recognize me, so I spend way to much time there.
I saw Syngonium in the video title, I clicked. I actually collect syngonium species. Milk confetti grows like a weed for me and the internodal spacing is very tight. Can really recommend. Synonymium Steyermarkii is a remarkably beautiful species and auritum is very easy and cute looking.
So glad you clicked! 😊 Your collection sounds incredible, especially the Synonymium Steyermarkii, I have never heard of it before your comment, so I googled and wow 😍 ! Thanks for sharing your experience! 🌱👏
@@Houseplantygoodness Yeah the adult ones are incredible. Mine is still a baby. But so far really easy to grow! Like you I'm also on the hunt for the chiapense variegata.
Chiapense 💚 and yes I’ve looked at the variegated ! 😩 I had a Llano Carti Road and I loved that, but the leaves kept washing out and I know now what was wrong to much light! And it was in a north window as well, so thank you for that advice 😊
.. Your Red Arrow just don't like too much light, but not too little either.. It's a puzzle to find the right spot, but when you do, she's happy to grow and show her beauty.. .. Mine is in a west facing room, on a shelf left from a window.. She's out of sunlight, so in medium light, as the light she gets is a bit from a grow light away from her.. She seems happy there, but it took me a while to figure it out and lost a few leafs too during that time.. I water when dry (not bonedry - but very dry) with filtered water and obviously a bit of fertilizer..
So glad the advice helped with your Llano Carti Road! 🌱 Light can be tricky, but it sounds like you've got it handled now. Keep growing those beauties! 💚
@@Houseplantygoodness Thank you Memo, have a good week and let’s hope the warmer weather is here to stay, as my runner beans and sun flowers are getting very leggy inside!
It's interesting that the chiapense is slow to propagate, given that (at least mine) grows stupid aerial roots in room humidity. But I'm glad I decided to airlayer mine. BTW, got it because of you and lovelovelove it ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Thank you! Been look at syngoniums at my garden centre lately- they sell "tots" of a good selection of plants- but have read they can be fussy. Following this video I might just try one. AND.... are you keeping the name of your well stocked local garden centre secret or are you sharing?😊 Love to find garden centres on our travel around UK.
Definitely give them a try! 🌱 And, I'm all for sharing-my go-to is Green Eden , it's Taverham Garden Centre. Always a treasure trove! Safe travels and happy plant shopping! 🌍🌿
Whatever "medium" light is, I agree that the "Llano-Carti Road" grows, and looks best, in it. I've never tired of my "Three Kings," with every single leaf looking so individual. As for your moment with the Syngonium chiapense, I hope y'all were using protection .... 🤣😂🤣
😂 Love your sense of humor Dave! Medium light does seem to work magic on those plants. Here’s to more individual leaf admiration on your Three Kings! 🌱👑
love this video so much ( S always ) I have 3 favorite syngonium’s . Rahii ( darker than wendladaii ) I also just acquired a variegated batik and a variegated angustifolium .. so love syngonium’s and don’t understand why they are t more sought after .
Thank you! 🌿 Rayii sounds fascinating, and I'm thrilled to hear about your new variegated finds! Syngoniums definitely deserve more attention-they're such stars! 🌟
I resisted syngoniums for a while as most i killed. But trying again, i have the chiapense and also almost killed the frosted chiapese. I,ve put it in clay balls and it appears to be holding its own. Fingers crossed. My fav is "Three Kings" - as its growing bigger it's looking stunning.
It's all about finding what works for each plant, right? 🌱 Glad your frosted chiapense is holding up! Three Kings growing beautifully sounds like a victory! 🌟 Keep going, you've got this! ✨
omg. i LOVE syngonium but hate some of the popular varieties. Pink Perfection beats any of the strawberry, confetti, milkshake varieties for a clear pink. erythrophyllum is just dark and sexy and well behaved. when the price drops, var. chiapense is on the list. Happy Easter, Memo. christos anesti.
Christos Anesti! 🌷🐰 Totally agree, Pink Perfection is a stunner! Erythrophyllum's vibe is just unmatched. Here's to hoping for more affordable chiapenses soon! 🌿✨
.. I have never ever had pest, not one, not even the shadow of one.. But sure lost a few to root rot, as I had a "babysitting" looking after my house when I was at the hospital..
@@aingealtara1479 That's good to. hear, thanks so much for your feedback! I bought one recently and discovered thrips on it after I got it home. I did check it in the shop, but not as carefully as I should have done. Since it wasn't a rare variety and cost just five bucks, I decided it wasn't worth the risk and the hassle, and binned it :( I have two others, and one on the way.
I love the 3 kings syngonium and my highly variagated mojito very much. I definitely find them to be thirsty and a little unforgiving If you forget to water for too long because there leaves are so thin
Great question! 🌱 For semi-hydro, I use a mix from Soil Ninja which is this one: www.soil.ninja/products/semi-hydro, water, and a bit of nutrient solution. Also growing pothos and some philodendrons this way! What about you? 🤔🌿
I also really like syngonium, much better than pothos. Easier form of the caladium and more color varieties than alocasias. Only one i haven't cracked yet is the Linear Syngonium. But my White Butterfly is the moooooost prolific, bushy baby and my Albo and Wendlandii are just beautifully lobing and variegating ❤.
Love hearing your thoughts! 🌱 It's great to see how diverse and adaptable Syngoniums are, right? Keep experimenting, that White Butterfly sounds like a dream! 🦋❤️
I gave up on syngoniums. I can keep the crazy fussy plants like calatheas and alocasias happy, but syngoniums always always always die on me. I can't figure them out. 😓
I ordered a prop box off palmstreet a few months ago. I've learned I have a couple syngoniums. To be honest, not my favorite plant, not feeling the leaf shapes and the colors they give, just doesn't look right to me. TO ME, my little opinion, so nobody come after me 😅. Anyway, watching it grow, I think it'll grow on me. I have an allusion of sorts and a white butterfly. Loving the allusion's color, so we'll see if I end up loving syngoniums, it has happened to me with hoyas 🤣🤣🤣

2023 was my Syngonium year lol. I purchased multiple types and loved them all...to death. Now I've got 4 that are surviving. 3/4 are in terrariums.
Sounds like a true Syngonium saga! 😅 Glad you still have survivors-terrariums can be great for them! Keep going strong! 🌿💪
Philodendron Rugosum is another plant that feels like rubber. Mine has morphed into adult leaves on a moss pole but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for the Chiapense. 😁🌿
I just purchased a frosted ice syngonium and will be putting that one on a moss pole shortly.
You have a great eye for syngoniums! 🌿 A variegated chiapense is defo a dream plant for me too. Your dartfrog paludarium must be a paradise! 🐸🌱
@@aingealtara1479 thanks for the advice, it’s definitely worth another go because it’s such a beautiful plant with those amazing red backed leaves 😊
BTW, got it because of you and lovelovelove it ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
My chiapense was fussy in water prop. So I put it in 50:50 stratum : perlite. It's really happy and gave me 3 leaves in 6 months 👌
🌿 Airlayering is a great choice for Syngonium chiapense! So glad you love yours and thrilled it was inspired by the channel! 🥰🌈
My absolute favourite is Wendlandii, followed by Aurea.
Syngonium Panda Galaxy looks really pretty. A local store had them but I saw mealy bugs so I passed. Next time.
Good call on passing up the mealybug-infested one! 🐛 Panda Galaxy is stunning, so hopefully, you'll find a healthy one soon! 🌿🔍
love this video so much ( S always ) I have 3 favorite syngonium’s .
Pink Perfection beats any of the strawberry,
confetti, milkshake varieties for a clear pink. erythrophyllum is just dark and sexy and well behaved. when the price drops, var.
chiapense is on the list. Happy Easter, Memo. christos anesti.
Christos Anesti! 🌷🐰 Totally agree, Pink Perfection is a stunner! Erythrophyllum's vibe is just unmatched. Here's to hoping for more affordable chiapenses soon! 🌿✨
I'd be interested to hear about what pest problems people are experiencing with syngoniums
I've had a couple of mealy bugs, treated my plant twice and never seen them since
For me I can honestly say other than 1-2 mealybugs once that I treated and never saw again, nothing really goes near them.
I buyed last week my first syngonium :-) .. a Mojito
I love the 3 kings syngonium and my highly variagated mojito very much. I definitely find them to be thirsty and a little unforgiving If you forget to water for too long because there leaves are so thin
Question ❓ what is your semi-hydro mix and what other plants do you have growing in it?
Great question! 🌱 For semi-hydro, I use a mix from Soil Ninja which is this one: www.soil.ninja/products/semi-hydro, water, and a bit of nutrient solution. Also growing pothos and some philodendrons this way! What about you? 🤔🌿
@@Houseplantygoodness im growing some in perlite and looking into new ways to grow them so I'll be checking out soil ninja😁
For me the chiapense has been slow to propagate in water like Scindapsus but both root quickly in a damp perlite bin.
All plants from your list are more or less "common".
I am hunting now for a Syngonium steyermarkii because of it/s "turtle - back" texture.
That's an exciting hunt, Agathan! 🌿 The Syngonium steyermarkii does have a fantastic texture. Best of luck finding it-such a gem! 💎
Syngonium podophyllum batik !!!
I gave up on syngoniums. I can keep the crazy fussy plants like calatheas and alocasias happy, but syngoniums always always always die on me. I can't figure them out. 😓
Oh no! 😓 Syngoniums can be tricky like that. Maybe it’s about finding the right spot or watering routine? Don’t give up! 🌱💪
I work in 'that' garden center and do the houseplant buying for it, I have no wages left! 😅
