So true. At the end of the day nobody wants to be shamed by an out of touch wealthy celeb on how to vote. In 2024 Hollywood backfired bigtime. In 2008 the internet was starting to become prevalent but nothing like today. My husband loves to watch anything political (both sides). Years ago, big production companies were needed to make a news show. It's amazing all the channels that are on now. Some starting off with nothing more than a makeshift studio in their basement.
@peggypeggy4137 back then, people mostly consume media we see on tv. Which are ran by politicians and activists. This is the beauty of america, everyone can report on issues that would otherwise be overlooked, downplayed, or worse yet be twisted by corporate media. Most people now stay away from tv and tune in to internet for news.
Elvis Presley often made it clear that he preferred to stay out of politics. He once said, "The only thing I can say is that it's not my business. I have no business with politics." His focus was on his music, films and his family rather than get involved in political stuff. He understood that he was an entertainer.
And, the Hollywood crowd are angry as hell about that! They now think of the American public as rebellious & ungrateful children by not following their example.
I'm highly skeptical of that, considering our last and possibly next president is literally a celebrity. If no one listened, he wouldn't have been elected twice..

I think her whole campaign was just a grift. She "raised" a billion but the DNC knew Trump would eat her alive and I think Kamala knew it, too, so she went on a spending spree.
Every time Kamala opened her mouth, and word salad only came out, right thinking Americans realised this woman is unfit to hold the office of the most powerful person in the world. No amount of celebrity endorsements was going to change that fact.
The celebrity promotions made her campaign look weird to me, especially because she didn't say what her policies were, it was just "opponent is bad" and celebrity promotions like inviting them to sing on stage.
celebrities have also "fallen". most see them as moral degenerates not worthy of respect. democrats did not factor this in. some people would actually vote opposite what a celebrity says.

The role of social media in 2008 versus 2024 is vastly different and worth highlighting. In 2008, challenging politicians or celebrities required significant effort-like calling into radio stations, appearing on TV shows, or writing blog posts that might never gain traction. Visibility was much harder to achieve, and platforms for widespread dissemination were limited. Fast forward to 2024, and the game has completely changed. With a single upload, information can spread instantly, reaching millions in minutes. This ease of distribution not only amplifies public scrutiny but also enables rapid mobilization, outrage, or even widespread apathy, depending on the content. Social media has made it easier than ever for people to hold power to account-or be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of discourse.
Excellent assessment of our fatigue with "The Celebrity" and their bought and paid for 'opinions'! We DON'T care what they think or say; we want truth and a return to sound, qualified and powerful leadership in this country!
I think if anything this has rerminded me WHY politics shouldn't be treated as trend movements rather than the more 'serious' thing that they are. Yes, going into politics in terms of how voting works is boring but at least then it's more honest than using celebrities who turn this mundane thing everyone can participate in into something that is pretty to look at but is incredibly vapid at the end of the day. There's also something to be said that while certain parties are 'desperate' to get the 'young vote', they're ignorance of older voters speaks to how they can easily underestimate the power of a certain sector of voters. The whole thing with the AMISH supposedly voting for Trump in droves showed it; there are a lot of important voters that get ignored because they're not apart of the trendy crowd and they can tip the scales in surprising ways. What I'd like to see is a completely neutral landscape going forward. We can't have biases that favor one side over the other in terms of marketing and other things because that makes people feel left out and when they feel left out, they get angry. If companies are going to get into politics when the election comes around, they're better off just being background noise to REMIND people that the election is happening instead of trying to be the 'voice' telling them WHO they should vote for because that alienates so many people within their brand. Companies that LOUDLY blare out who they THINK people should vote for is condescending and has turned away a lot of people and just lessens the impact of what an election can mean. Celebrities and companies should let the canidates advertise THEMSELVES rather than trying to run for the canidates. It just makes it a whole lot easier and a lot less dramafilled.
The good news is that I feel like we are trending back down towards sanity. It feels like we peaked with this bs a few years ago around COVID times, and the bs fervor that put our nation legitimately at risk is now ending.

Obama ran a far better campaign than Harris.
Also Diddy’s endorsement no longer holds the same weight as it did
Elvis Presley often made it clear that he preferred to stay out of politics. He once said, "The only thing I can say is that it's not my business. I have no business with politics."
His focus was on his music, films and his family rather than get involved in political stuff. He understood that he was an entertainer.
"Hi, I'm a famous singer/actor, I am super rich, my relationships are a mess, and I'm here to act as your brain and tell you who you should vote for.
No one listens to celebrities anymore when it comes to politics. This is not the 90s.
Especially since they've only gotten more and more out of touch with the people
And, the Hollywood crowd are angry as hell about that! They now think of the American public as rebellious & ungrateful children by not following their example.
I'm highly skeptical of that, considering our last and possibly next president is literally a celebrity. If no one listened, he wouldn't have been elected twice..

Weaponized incompetence. She didn't want to win.

Celebrities think they are "punching down" but what they are doing is seeing us reflected in the puddle as we stand above them as they gaze at their own reflection. They are clueless.

Thanks for this video. I hope it has millions of views by 2028 so the American people as well as candidates know better.

This is a very thoughtful video. Good analysis
An excellent production thank you
I think if anything this has rerminded me WHY politics shouldn't be treated as trend movements rather than the more 'serious' thing that they are.
Thank you. Very well said.
The good news is that I feel like we are trending back down towards sanity. It feels like we peaked with this bs a few years ago around COVID times, and the bs fervor that put our nation legitimately at risk is now ending.
