So much love for Muska. I grew up in the town Shorty's was based in (Santa Barbara CA) and would see the Shorty's crew skating local spots when I was like 12-15. They were gods in my eyes, haha.
But having grown older, it really makes me happy seeing him so healthy, engaged and still just fucking cool.
No one cares who you grew up watching
Always used Black Magic grip growing up. When I was setting up my new board after 5 years of not riding, the shop I went to didnt carry BM. Had to settle for MOB :(
check out Paradox Grip. Real Deal Skater owned
BLACK LABEL is still killing it.🔥🐘
🫨
i believe it but mostly through reissues, how many kids you know riding black label at your local? But Lucero is a legend, and the reissues are sick
Muska is Real. Bless
Skating is not going to die off. It is a culture onto its own. Keep RIPPIN'
Have a look around. Communism is taking everything. Everything.
Kids can't afford to skate, what will you do
It’s dying.
Old skater now understands what has been crystal clear for 50 years.
Skateboarding comes in waves in my hometown (Santa Barbara birth place of Powell Peralta) some kids stop only because their friends do too but they usually come back 👍🏼
man i just love seeing muska thriving so far later in life, good shit muska!
It's nice to see reissue of old designs and board shapes from the past when I skated. Prices have been high with the reissued skateboards.
Good job, Muska. That’s how the world works. Not just the skate industry
The problem is that skaters expect prices to stay the same. When i worked in shops for several years in the late 80s to 90s, decks were $75 (canadian) trucks were $50, wheels were $40. The products now are still similar in price and many companies are forced to manufacture overseas to cut costs. In reality, prices should increase to support the demand and the industry, but most skaters dont want to / cant afford to pay more for the same quality of product.
Problem is people’s wages aren’t increasing as much as inflation I think, it’s messed up how the rich keep making massive profits yet we aren’t reaping those profits as the workers
Yea I’m not sure the 13 year old not able to pay $300 for a complete is the problem; globalization / inflation / capitalism are the more likely culprits
People also don’t understand how their ideologies negatively impact their lives. Of course skateboarding prices have increased with inflation. They don’t recognize that they actually want inflation. They don’t say they do but they continue voting for political policies that call for govt. spending and printing money.
I remember breaking a deck as a kid and it was the end of my world because they were $80 lol
I'm from SB as well. Used to store my ramp at shorts. I'm a bmxer tho, 35 years in , pro for 20 years. I ride carpinteria with some old Powell bros, they say skating is at a low point like bmx. Let me say that's when it's the best! Only real skaters n bmxers stay, goons leave. It's our world and never mainstream , that's why its respected over time.
Interesting company
They've sent the whole industry to China and Mexico and raised prices. The skate companies are doing just fine.
🤣🤦♂️
I remember when almost started making boards in China over 20 years ago and riding one became taboo. I'm from Milwaukee so I was riding a lot Greg Lutzka almost boards at the time. Everyone would hate on not supporting a true "American" company. But my boards were like $45 at the time. That was like $15-20 less than most pro models. Now every company makes them in China and they're double the price.
Support local skate shops
Support GOOD skateshops. Shops with elitist attitudes, poor customer service and outrageous pricing deserve to go out of business just like any other poorly run business. I’m happy to pay more than online stores at a local to support good guys that provide a good service but it’s not my job to keep a bad business afloat for some weird moral reason.
@@user-te3qq1rb7u agreed
@@user-te3qq1rb7uamen. I will happily give them a few bucks to keep the lights on and support my local scene. But no way I’m paying through the nose for some wheels that I could’ve had shipped to mt front door.
There has to be a downfall in sales because not many kids are skating. I remember seing skateparks filled now seing 10 kids is rare. It is sad but true. People are not having many kids.
By being a cool company with interesting skaters that people want to be associated with. Same as ever.
Most companies charging $80 a board which is honestly crazy I used to pay $55/60 like 3/4 years ago. Let alone most local shop decks are $60 now when they used to be like $30/$45 depending on the shop and I’d rather support a local shop. But looking at it now a days I get a local shop board for the price I used to get a pro model board for. Kinda ridiculous but it is what it is. No im not broke but when you buy X amount of boards a year that money adds up let alone most shoes are $100+ now a days too
Board prices have been one of the most stable things for a long time. Companies charge $80 now for special editions or constuctions (like Flight Decks). But you can get decks everywhere for $60 and under…
Just do exactly what Chad is saying, buy directly from the skater. Its sucks to not support a shop, but the money literally goes directly to the skater. Ryan Gallant has Visit Skateboards for $40-50/deck. Same wood as everyone else. He rolls the graphics on himself. You can even ask what color veneer you want. He's not paying for a distributor network or shop markup, it's cheaper than a shop board 20 years ago for me
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise dude I had no clue and completely forgot about blanks and stuff like that. I was looking at mini logo boards basically blanks and they’re $50 now. Just looked at Ryan’s page and ordered some. My dad used to buy a lot of blanks back in the day and do pinstriping on boards and stuff (pops was a tattoo artist) you could order 10 boards for $100 lol I appreciate the recommendation I’ll definitely have to get a couple boards custom made from him too
The big skate companies are “surviving” because the top pro companies are cycling all the money in the “skateboarding industry”. Non-core companies also like nike & adidas have definitely been extracting money out of the “skateboard industry” in recent years
Yall literally faded the muska at the end of the video lol
My local skate shop closed down after like 20 years.. nobody buys local anymore.
That or it can be had for cheaper online somewhere else… and most people go that route
I really try my best to support local shops whether it’s skate or RC cars or whatever the hobby. Sure it can be a little more expensive, but I know where my money is going
My homie who was a hardcore skater
Said he prefers to buy decks online because he thinks or we know that shops tax more.
But he would still support local skate shops around the city.
Muska kinda looks like Eric Clapton these days.
Skateboard Graphics have gotten lazy/repetitive
"Just dye the board different colors and throw a mouse in the middle. Charge $60." 5BORO Always Run board
@TrevorCut611 case in point look at Baker and Deathwish graphics when they first came out and compare them to their board graphics from the past few Year's. The difference is Night and Day.
Birdhouse is even worse
@@ogvelociraptor205wtf Baker and Deathwish have amazing graphics lately. Especially the stuff by Spanky and Lotties. FA and Hockey have some good stuff, Zero, Anti-Hero, plenty of good graphics out there. Cartoon graphics just died out.
@tvsavery666 Zero has released some bangers and Baker and Deathwish are a hit or miss.
Deathwish Halloween board was sick
go to your local. pick up whichever limosine graphic peaks your interest. admire the details
To many board brands and every random ass dude who can get a load or has some cash can start a damn skateboard brand now , being a pro has lost the reality of really being a pro cause we get into this whole thing where anyone can have a board brand now which I wish the industry would take back and woodshops wouldn’t let these outsiders make orders
Eventually it will rely only on branding and marketing. They are not manufacturing things much differently.
A y o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o 🦍

So Chad is saying the entire skate industry should be drop ship.
I guess your listening comprehension needs some fine tuning.
@@J.G.Wentworth69420it’s my direct to consumer drop ship product and I want it now. I back Muska beats too.
So basically if you don't make money then you can't keep your business going. Wow
Is he not aware of debt and credit? That's how companies survive in downturns and banks make money in the long run.
I'm sure he is, but how much leverage can brands and shops carry before they have to declare bankruptcy? Look at how long Dyrdek kept Alien on life support before it went (and was resurrected in name only) and he's not a stranger to business
