Back in the day, me and my fellow skate friends didn't like Madrid. We thought of it as an old fashioned, 'over the hill' brand. We did like our Visions and Santa Cruses though! Funny to find out we were probably riding Madrid....
Man, this is a cool vid. Takes me back to my first few boards (one of which was the “spoon nose” from Variflex). I went double kick after that and the rest was history.

Great interview. I've made a few boards at home with molds and a bunch of C-clamps as well as vacuum bagging. I'm still terrible at making wheel wells. I love that they still do most of it by hand. Makes me want to make boards again. Anyone in OBX got a garage I can borrow to make boards?
I skated in the late 70s early 80s . I started back this year. Wow things have changed. I still have a set of clay wheels on an old board. I still have my old banana board. Does anyone remember those?? I went to a skatepark and the kids were doing some amazing things. They cracked on my gear so I had to get old school and chunk their boards into the sewers. lol Yeah I had to explain old school manners to their fathers.
