Yeah. The obscure games like this, really gives me a nostalgia trip. I've seen smb3 so many times, the associations are watered out. This game on the other hand reminds me of specific things from my childhood. I remembered being super impressed with the graphics, and the innovative gameplay (riding animals) and all that stuff. This was before Yoshi.
It seems underwhelming now, but that part at 32:33 in Nightmare Land where you cross the mountain with the Nightmare King watching you from the distance was mind-blowingly epic in 1990.
One of my favorite games of all time, and i never even beat the 1st level. Fwiw i was 4yrs old. Now I have a family of my own. Watching this is... special. Thanks.
Literally for years I had long forgotten the name of this amazing game. I used to play it all the time when I was around 6 years old. I just turned 23 and I recently found the name of it and now I wish I had my old NES still sitting around with this game in it so I can play. Such a nostalgic trip that blows my mind. I absolutely love it. 💜💜
Michelle Nicole go buy a super retro trio (50 usd)and you can play nes snes or sega games on it. then just buy this title on ebay for cheap. it's how i play it for cheap
Michelle Nicole also you can buy an everdrive game for 20 and that has like 250 games on it. if you buy super retro trio or super retro duo. good luck fellow nemo fan
I was selling games at a convention about 5 months ago and helped a lady remember the name of this game! Was it by any chance you?! It was a big con in Florida... just curious :)
I would like to thank all Amazing nes players who don't stop uploading videos like this to give me an opportunity to complete those missing pieces I've never acquired in my kid days
Yeah, and going back further, it's based on an old series of comics. I think the movie had either a troubled release or development, so it came out under the radar.
This is so weird . I'm 29 and I played this game so much when I was 5-11. It was so hard . I remember getting to dream three took more effort than beating most games . I watched this and almost cried remembering how hard it was and pouring myself into it and being frustrated and breaking through and getting better . I'd play this game until my mom made me go to bed ! Almost surreal watching it be played
Ah, memories! I remember I used to call my big brother to help me with the Topsy-turvy rat segment...but then I managed to reach the Final boss and finish it. Challenging, colorful, great graphic and gimmicks! A really good NES title I still love to play on emulator!
Wow ! I played this game when I was 6 years old. It was a really tough game for a little boy so I never passed the Dream #2. I always asked me what was that thing in Nemo's back : a backpack ? a candy bag ? It's really funny to discover 24 years later that it's the scepter Camille give him right after the 6th Dream.... So... Wait a minute... If Camille gave the scepter to Nemo after Dream #6, why Nemo carry the scepter in the six first dreams ???? It's really funny too to discover, at the same time, this little "bug". Anyway, one of my favorite game on NES back in the days. @RetroGamingFra
The only bad to this great game is that it did not have a password for levels once passed, since it was tedious always start the game from the beginning every time you play. I could never finish in my childhood, never passed to the first level of nightmare land.
Remember playing this masterpiece when I barely gained consciousness in my young little mind. Such nostalgia, from the music to the sound affects, thank you for this.
As soon as i came across this i instantly stopped and was like omg!!! Lol like a kid. I remember every level and the music to this brought me back to my childhood. I remember staying up late on weekends playing this while eating chips and drinking soda. I would be lying if I said I didn’t tear up a little.

its a hard game. but that atmosphere and itself is just so cute it is really fun to even just play for a bit. unlike other hard games like castlevania.
35:14 “Oh goody! We can play together everyday. We can have picnics in the lollipop forest and explore the taffy swamp. I can teach you magic. Oh, it’ll be such fun.” Yeah, it is difficult to imagine this was not deliberate, especially since those locations are neither seen nor spoken of otherwise in the game. 😆😁
I had really bad insomnia as a kid and I remember playing this game a lot. I think between me and my mom we eventually made it to Topsy Turvy, but never made it to the end without cheats.

The word "nostalgia" comes from the Greek words "nostos" and "algos", meaning "homecoming" and "pain" respectively. And yes, watching this, along with so many other NES games, gives me a homesickness pain 😌
Been thinking about this game for a long time and been trying to remember the name, a know the game had dream in title that is all, so typed nes game dream and a finally found it.
Damn... you do what I do (throwing candies before approaching the NPC) 😂 and looking left to right syncing with the sound of the train when it starts. Missing my childhood days. thanks for the video.
When i was a kid i was mad for this game. But couldn't complete this game as after that my video game broke down. So after 25 yrs when I am matured i came here to watch the all stages what I missed in my childhood
I remember this game being a little hard when i was a kid, but i always thought it was kind of cute how nemo rides on the monsters shoulders and they use their skills to help you
I explored every little nook of this game when I was a kid 30(!) years ago, and all those memories came crashing back, seeing this video. Btw, all the music in the final stage could have easily been lifted from an NES Megaman game. With all the other homages in the game, no way that is just a coincidence (the only level with boss fights, too).
Childhood gold right here. First time I played the game I didn't know you could charge the wand so I could never beat the flying stingray boss. Played it years later when I was older and figured it out.
I used to play this game all the time as a kid. It's the only reason I went and saw the movie when it came out. Great game, but incredibly tough in the later stages.
Maybe just me but it seems like Nintendo basically nicked ideas from this game for many of its Mario games after SMB over the years: Riding dinos (Yoshi), games that take place in dreams (SMB2), suits that you wear like you are actually inside them (like Frog, Tanooki, Bee, etc), turning into a mole that digs into scenery (Yoshi's Island), wall gripping/climbing (NSMB), long rooms of spikes that smash down on you (SMB3) . . .
Haven’t played this game in 30 years I just remember it being beautiful with amazing music but brutal to play through. I got as far as that penguin in nightmare land but being unable to see if your attacks hurt him was discouraging. He looked like he was just tanking them and I wasn’t sure if I had to charge up all the way and hit him in the open maw. Seeing it here it reminds me of a mix of Super Mario World and Megaman 3 before they released. This era had so many incredible games forgotten to the sands of time.
Awesome game for NES, thanks for completing it here. Had it been available in 1988 before the new Sega Genesis in 1989, I bet it would have earned a lot more recognition as a classic, but I almost never hear this game mentioned in best 10 lists.
For anyone else who plays this game, the dream rod does more damage the more you charge it. Don't be like this person and resort to a bunch of tiny shots. I killed the penguin in 7 hits and it didn't take me nearly as long
+THEGREATMAX You're not at all wrong, and I'm betting this player knows that as well, given their skill at the game. I think this player is using mostly quick shots to stay more mobile, avoid all damage, etc. I'm guessing the point of calling this a "perfect" run is that this player took no damage the whole time, at least, I don't recall seeing them take any damage.
The memories!use to play it with my friend before going to school,we were 8years old.game seemed so dificult but charming.the train level were we stuck for long time, when it start moving towards spikes it were so sisorienting,we paniced alot hahaha, level 6 was my favorit thou, runing on top of roofs in the night then making all the way to the clouds to find a cloud city, its like a freaking Bioshock infinite back then!and secound level of nightmare land, were you climbing up to lava mountin...dammn i thought it was so tough and so long,in my memory it keept that way haaha,i even remember how happy i was to finally encouter froggy after beeing on my own for that long.and for sure when i reached nightmare king i made sure to stick this morning star deep in his ass!still proud of 8myself for beating that game!

Considering the NES, these graphics are sick!!
Capcom was no joke back in the day. A lot of their games had no right to look and play as well as they did.
