- Of late, there have been multiple reports of cars catching fire and burning in the middle of the road. What causes these fires? Also there have been incidents where a certain insect has been eating the fuel lines of cars causing fuel leaks. Are these two related? How can you prevent a fire hazard?

Good thing you pointed out the fire extinguisher part. Btw, to those who actually plan to follow this guidance, please ensure to keep it far from the reach of sunlight, as I have seen a lot of cases where sunlight has caused the fire extinguisher to explode and cause a ruckus. note: never stick it on the dash, or next to the A,B,C pillar.

@@ullas1thomas Preferably under the seat, where the sunlight doesn't reach always. Anywhere inside the cabin where you can reach at an instant, during a fire hazzard. Thus, keeping it in the boot isnt a good idea as it can be of much higher temperature during the summer days which can cause a situation too, and plus you'd not be able to reach it in the case of a quick emergency. Also, make sure the placement is such you can reach during a fire immediately.

Which would be the safest for our cars? It's high time someone made a video about this instead of just saying everyone needs to keep a fire extinguisher.

Normally it's under the seat or in the bottom side seat. It's mandatory in the gulf countries and they do check safety features every year.
Rat likes fuel injector sensor wire in my fiesta 2010 :) tried several rat repellents but still it came on a daily basis . Finally resorted to rat trap and caught 4 of them . That gave peace for 4months and after that again new colony of rats started coming . So after several nights of setting up rat traps and catching mouses, i finally sold off the car :D and bought Duster..
Now they have left fuel injector and is behind coolant pipe

There is a rat repellant device that is available now and approved to use. It's a small device they install in the engine bay. We have installed it in our X1 and A4 and it has worked very well. It was a menace before that and we had spent a lot of money fixing wires chewed up by rats. Now we don't have any issue for more than a year since installing this device.

I had come across a smoking situation in my Nissan Sentra 1.8 around 2 years back while driving , the smoke came from some where near the alternator belt immediately parked the car and called the mechanic , he suggested me to immediately remove the battery terminals which i was able to do with the help of a person parked beside me. Smoke stopped and towed the car to garage , they figured out ac compressor was completely damaged and had to replace nearby parts as well to fix the issue. After this incident i always carry a setoff spanners and fire extinguisher always with me. I think most of the electrical related issues can be fixed by removing battery terminals.

My santro was having a problem, when we overtake the vehicle will switch off. I went to the showroom they told no problem. Again i face the same problem. Then I went to a very big garage in silk board "Green cars" now it is occupied by Isuzu. They told me change ECM, I changed it. Again same problem. Finally I went to a small workshop, what he did is he takeout the petrol tank then he take out one metal piece that is already in every car, after ageing it may come out. That was the real problem the vehicle was stopping. The metal piece floating in the tank sometimes it will block the petrol. He charge me only Rs500.

I know the reason and am fighting for the ban of the fuel injection system ( HPOS) which requires an electronic fuel pump or electric pump that sends fuel at 50 to 60 psi unlike the cam driven mechanical fuel pump which used to send fuel at 12- 15 psi to the carburettor ( low pressure operating systems also known as LPOS). The carburettor system was the safest mode , the rich mixture was attributed to the inadequate air sent along with increasing volume that used to be sent during acceleration. You dont need a air fuel sensor to do the job. A device needs to send more air as the fuel vol increases such a turbo or super charge.The unburnt fuel in the exhaust came be overcomed along with maintaing the appropriate CFA ( centrifugal advance ) because the ignition coil where the 12 volt battery current is amplified to 20 thousand volts when it comes out of the secondary winding of the coil is more than enough to burn the intake mixture.Lets make India safe .join hands.Fight foolishness that's costing lives. Correct amount of air, correct compression and correct ignition ignition with the appropriate CFA will be enough to overcome this costing lives.please reintroduce the carburettor system.

My cruze ATZ got a fuel leak in 4 months after purchase. The reason : The workshop supervisor at the dealership kept my car for 4 days for finding the reason for a minute power loss i suspected (no fuel leak was found at that time). And he used to go for a ride every day with his friends to the beach in the name of trouble shooting. I came to know this and abused his father( avante thanthakku vilichu). When he returned the car. There was a heavy fuel leak ! He purposely did it to my car for sure. So one of the possible reasons for fuel leak can be this...😁

This is true. Leak in the rubber tube coming out of fuel tank is widely found these days. Severe leak found in my Ritz a few days back. It is found in many cars in my area. Service centers are witnessing so many cases for a few weeks. Found just like a pin hole. Leak starts when ignition is on and fuel pump starts. That is the danger. When the vehicle is stopped leaked fuel evaporates in a few minutes and we cannot see anything. As you said exact reason is unknown.

What you told about dealers doing faulty works are not only in India. I have an experience with a KIA dealership here in Canada. I had my 2006 Kia Sedona(Carnival) given to the dealership for a recall where they had to do some attachment over the fuse box inside the engine bay. I had a fuse issue later and To my and my mechanic's surprise we found that they had used some wires to interconnect few points and have taped them with normal insulation tape. And this resulted for a couple of fuse to blow up.

my neighbour's M800 is parked in our makeshift open shed which is overgrown with many weeds because he doesn't have space in his compound. He rarely takes it out for drives on Sundays only. One day he couldn't start his car and upon further inspection it was found his fuel pump had a huge hole in it. He laid a few rat traps but that didn't work. This happened the second time and he moved his car somewhere else. Only a few days ago I read an article on Manorama that it was some bug which makes this hole.
Guys I think you can improve production quality massively by getting a polariser(specially to deal with reflections from your glasses) and some lighting.
Recently I was getting a petrol smell in my Volkswagen vento and I took the car to VW service, there was a leakage in fuel line and got it replaced. This is the first time I am getting a issue like this, I bought the car in Yr 2015 .

It was a hole in petrol tube under the body i dont know even it is from insect.

Lead is more dangerous than u think, during 1960s multinational companies fought in US court against a scientist who publish paper against use of lead not only in fuel but in paints, creams etc.

2010 alto bs4,with orange rear indicator don't have roof bow, as part of cost cutting checked more 3 cars. It's not fitted.

@@nandanrajeev2452 yes...I was looking for an automatic....only i10 offers the same with AMT...sadly it's 3-cyl though it's fuel efficient, suspension setup is not that impressive...Same unit is there on Aura but the design is not my personal choice... Immediate next option is Nexon AMT and it's overall a better car and the main reason why I m not choosing it is the After Sales support which is pathetic for most existing customers...That leaves to Amaze CVT which is a grt car with nice mileage, driving comfort, the only con is diesel automatic is bit overpriced as the on-road price will be around 13L which is high for the segment....So, overall a messy situation for someone wants a diesel automatic.
@@jacksonp64 did you try xuv300 diesel AMT? 300NM torque (best in segment) i think w6 will be on budget but obviously with lesser features than nexon....
There is also sonet diesel AT which is also quite good
