Vancouver Island Marmots at the Calgary Zoo

  • The Vancouver Island Marmot is Canada's most endangered animal with less than 200 estimated to live in the wild. However, the Calgary Zoo along with other Canadian institutions have been successfully breed the species back from the brink of extinction when only 30 were estimated to live in the wild in 2003.

    Set em free just across from the island too.. habitat should be similar. I love this species, they look so different from most others. Next in line in cuteness are the ones everyone filming in Himalaya area of Pakistan. They look like teddy bears!

      The population is now 200 they're making an effort to bring the species back to life which is great because these species are adorable

    LOL think all marmot scream like this.. It is way cuter tho from VIM's
