- We analyzed 2 million random keywords and their top 10 ranking pages to create a dead simple SEO strategy for faster Google rankings. So how long does it take to rank on Google?
Our data revealed that the average number one ranking page takes around 3 years, while only 5.7% of all studied pages ranked in the top 10 search results within 1 year for at least 1 keyword.
But here’s the thing:
the duration to rank on Google page one depends on numerous factors and can’t be generalized.

Thanks, Bill 😀A modifier can essentially be any word and will vary on your seed. So unfortunately, there isn't a "list" of modifiers that will work consistently in every niche aside from the ones mentioned. For example, "in" can be a good one to use for the travel Niche (ie. seed = "new york", modifier = "in"). Make sense?
The next time you're filtering through your keywords reports within Keywords Explorer, be on the lookout for common words and then try them using the "include" search box and you may just fine a hidden treasure :)

Great tip about using modifiers. I'll definitely be giving those a go on Ahrefs to find more content ideas. What do you think about those, like Income School, who prefer to spend all their time creating content, ignoring link building altogether and letting links and organic traffic build naturally?
I've seen it work in small niches, but our numerous data studies (in addition to other industry studies) show that links are heavily correlated with higher Google rankings.
The strategies mentioned in the video can certainly rank medium competition keywords also. Try them wisely.

Love ur videos. Simple,fast and to the point! Something with noting with the kw difficulty is that it sometimes display a very low score for that page suggesting you dont need many links but you also have to check any internal pages that link to that pages. E.g www.exaple.edu.au/course/certivinsomething has a very low kw difficulty but thats because they have all their links goings to the www.example/course page
Our keyword difficulty metrics are based on the number of referring domains pointing at the top 10 ranking pages for a given query, so it's best to use them for skimming and then to do a manual analysis on the ones you'll be targeting. Have been using this tactic for a while where I find low comp. KW, create an article - check the avg. length of the articles of 1st 5 in the SERPs and I add 10%-15%. Works like charm!

You can't "change" your page to rank for another keyword. As in, that's not fully within your control. But you can try re-optimizing it for another keyword. For example, you can rewrite the content on the page for another keyword you wish to target.

Is it enough to provide backlinks to main website URL ,So that the link juice get transferred from the main URL to interlinked URL in main url...
Getting home page links is a good thing as it can help increase the strength of your website's overall link profile, but deeper links are also important too. There are numerous factors that will come into play, which unfortunately can't be answered with a simple "yes" or "no" answer.

In 2017 I posted an article with 350 words. Since last month, my post ranked #9 (1st page) for the main keyword (volume 2900). Average Google 1st Page posts word count 1884 for that main keyword. My existing post is a list-based type, and I didn't cover depth details for each item. Is it a good idea to add relevant 1500 words to the existing post? Please, can you explain SEO effect for doing this?
You may update the article with fresh and relevant in-depth content. This will help you to get rankings for more keywords, as well as provide updated content on the same topic. You should get positive results in you keep the angle of the article as it is.

Sam, Excellent video But i do not think i am able to understand how a website is able to rank first without any organic traffic. I use the query "taller bicicletas chia" , chia is a city in colombia. The H1 has the in bold the words "taller" , "bicicleta" and "chia" but i check the volume and there is cero organic traffic , how is this possible???. I was under impression that your traffic make you rank ....i hope you can help me to understand. thanks in advance. ( I am already subscribed)
It's tough to understand this as it is a very specific case (in a language I don't speak/read/write). Since I don't understand the search term or the website you're analyzing, it's tough to provide a detailed information on this. Sorry :(

@@alexherrera3918 Cuantos searches cada mes tienes, amigo? Hola mi amigo Colombiano, how many searches per month did you find for this keyword? If it is a low-competition keyword, if you have decent content quality & length you can rank well with low organic traffic.
Please understand, traffic is an estimate unless you're tracking in Analytics etc. For search volume, as Sam says, it's a low estimate of the monthly search traffic, so it's most likely there is some organic traffic for it.

@@alexherrera3918 Ok. :) Yes, as I'm a member of Doug Cunnington's Five Figure Niche Site Course, I have learned the value of targeting low-volume keywords such as your example. I do it in many cases.
While low volume may not seem interesting to most people, in many case I can rank much higher very quickly unlike higher-volume keywords which are often much harder. If you can find more and more keywords like your example and product good posts it is possible to drive more traffic and generate some money.

Your trick about finding low competition keyword is awesome but ahref is not showing correct reasults for KD, like for "windows 10 black screen with cursor" keyword ahref is showing KD is 6 and the search volume is 7600 but when i checked with same keyword with other tools like kwfinder and keyword everywhere that's showing keyword is hard to rank and in reality it's not to easy to rank that ahref is showing. I think ahref need to work on the keyword explorer tool.

Our keyword difficulty metric is primarily based on the number of unique referring domains pointing at the pages in the top 10. I'm unsure as to why it's "wrong," but for any keyword you target, you should go beyond any "keyword difficulty" metric as they are all calculated differently.
My friend it's not about kd everytime check the competitors SERP if their DR is high it would be really hard to rank so choose your keyword by checking the competitors SERP if low DR website like 15-20 are ranking on it on the first page then it's easier to rank but link building from high quality websites are still important to beat them
From my understanding, Ahrefs' KD highly depends on the average number of backlinks for the top ten on SERPS. The challenge comes when you have pages from big websites like wirecutter, nymag, huffington ranking on top because of their higher DR but the specific pages have no backlinks at all. The power here is the DR but your reliance of KD (calculated based on backlinks) will flop.
Honestly I tried ahref a few times but I never want to pay for the service. But after a few of your videos (including this one), it seems that I might need to rethink again. Really good marketing strategy here.

@@AhrefsCom To be honest: nothing different than I usually do! I did a good keyword research and noticed this keyword had relatively high average monthly searches / competition ratio compared to other keywords. I used bullet points and a good layout with H1's and H2's...And I guess the site is loaded with content so Google sees us as an authority I guess! ;)
if everyone followed this video there would not be a second result. Everyone would be ranking 1st :)

Tamil, you shouldn't be using a cracked theme. There's really no reason for that these days. Get either a decent free theme or PAY for a good theme. It's well worth it.

Actually my dr is bad than my competitor while i have more linking domains than them they have 115 domains linking to them and i have aprox 100 but their dr is 19 and mine is 2.5
Domain Rating isn't just about the *quantity* of links. It takes into account quality to a certain extent. We outline more details on it here: ahrefs.com/blog/domain-rating/

You need backlinks from high authority websites which are dofollow links. And keep in mind, the more websites the domain links to, the less value it brings to you as the "link juice" that it passes is divided between all of the sites it links to.

How can Majestic provide the same service for half the price?
Majestic and Ahrefs are *very* different. We have quite a few different additional tools beyond backlink analysis as well as some unique features that we haven't seen anywhere else.
Majestic doesn't have a badass keyword corpus, or site crawler, or rank tracker, or content explorer.

So basically what you're saying is that Google and UA-cam only reward video creators if they have a website that goes along with their channel so that they can create backlinks? Whatever happened to just posting a kick ass video and having it go viral like the good ol' days? No we gotta go by a set of rules just to get anywhere. LOL, no way. Free tools = low tier, weak results. One thing many of the best leaders in my field (affilaite marketing) recommend is using AHRefs.
The data is simply some of the best and free tools can't even begin to compare. I regularly outrank guys like you who use free tools.
When you're ready to get serious, try out the AHRefs trial for a few days and you'll see what I mean.
