Could you please, please cover Pat Thrall ( Automatic Man, Pat Travers, Hughes and Thralll ) specially on the Hughes and Thrall period. Did I said please? Well I say it again, Pleease.
Ronnie was one of he best and most underrated guitarist of the late 80’s. He was so far ahead of his contemporaries. I saw TNT a few times in the late 80’s and Ronnie would do this killer guitar solo in the show using several guitars and loopers, was a lot fun.
Ronnie and Nuno are TIED for my top Favorite Guitarist of Alltime!!! So watching ur video on Ronnie and u mention Nuno.......brought the biggest smile to my face!!! \m/
I really appreciate that you do lessons for overlooked guys like Chris Poland or Ronnie. Thanks a million times. My next vote is for Les Paul because there's basically no lessons for him and trying to search for a lesson in his style only yields results for guys playing Les Paul guitars.
Very tasteful and melodic player. Ronni would always throw out those ear candy licks interspersed with neoclassical, tremolo picking and other really cool techniques. Thanks for showcasing Ronni's playing.
2 minutes in and you bring up Nuno! The first time I heard Extreme I though Nuno sounded like a cross between EVH and Ronni! :) BTW - you kick ass, brother!
Thank you for this video David. I discovered TNT and Ronnie about a year ago and they blew my mind! Agree with you on so many points about Ronnie! Criminally underrated player!
Thanks for this video. I've seen TNT live many times, and have met Ronny and the band a few times. He is one of my favorite guitarplayers and I really nice guy.
Your point about Ronnie's being classically influenced without sounding like Yngwie is a good one. He really seemed to come from out of nowhere with his own vocabulary, tone and bag of tricks and very little of what he plays sounds lifted from guitarists who came before him.
Hi David. Thanks for another excellent video. I never realized the amount of thought and creativity Ronni put into his work after listening to this. 10000 lovers riff is definitely one of my favs. 🤘👍
This is cool 😎 I don’t live far from Ronni, his studio is not far from my town Gjøvik in Norway. I have always loved he’s shredding stuff and he’s a great musician. He had a real bad ass sound back in the 80". He uses Marshall 2204 and strat with Duncan Custom humbuckers. And he still use Roland Space Echo. He has a very similar setup to Randy Rhoads gear. But he use mainly Boss and not MXR pedals. It’s really great to see that other know about him. 😄🎸🤟
I saw TNT with Stryper and Loudness at Starwood Amphitheater in Nashville in '87 and he did the Wizard thing in his Solo and Blew me away. It was so Cool !!!
Totally Rad dude🤘 knight of a new thunder, tell no tales and intuition were staples of my youth...your lessons are like a time machine really taking me back to some good times ! Keep up the good work
Sometimes Ronni’s style reminds me of a Cello timbre but with extended higher register. I could never get enough of TNT 🇳🇴. I still listen to their records. Love his percussive tremolo. I read in an 80’s guitar/metal magazine an interview where Ronni tells that he had no idea about guitar setups being so isolated in Norway from the main rock guitar scene. Obviously he improved his guitar’s playability later but he admitted that it was so difficult playing in the earlier days not knowing. It’s amazing he could execute just inspiring and explosive playing with very high action as he said and described 🎸
Really cool video about one of my favorite guitarists! I’ve always loved his riffs and his solos are always jaw dropping. So funny you compared his style somewhat to Nuno Bettencourt’s. I’ve never heard anyone else make that connection. I remember the first time I heard Nuno’s solo to “Play With Me” when it came out, I swear I thought it was Ronnie Le Tekro.
I remember hearing of this guitar back in the day, but I never did figure out what it is???? I saw TNT, Great White, and Twisted Sister at the Orpheum in MPLS back in like 87...
B2Z Powersports LLC sounds like a great show! I never did see TNT live, though I was a huge fan. My band opened for both Great White and Twisted Sister back in the day. The 1/4 stepper guitar literally had twice as many frets (frets in between the regular frets).
Great to see/hear appreciation for Ronni’s skill, and style. I have caught a lot of flack for liking him(and Nuno too, sometimes). And i can’t understand why guitar players don’t get into the playing/compositions. Even it’s not your favorite style of rock. Intuition and Tell no tales still blow me away!
Ah, I'd totally forgotten about TNT! Nice one. The neighbor tones technique always reminds me of that great bit in Del Shannon's Runaway. It sounds so alien but it's just a major arpeggio played with neighbor tones.
David! Thanks for reminding me the beast of a player that Ronni Le Tekro is -with your 2 episodes! Just when I think you can’t outdo yourself-you do it! You put me in a TNT phase also. I went to UA-cam and watched the live TNT stuff also (the sound quality from the one from 2014 is incredible!). I always thought of Ronni as VH meets Uli Roth/Blackmore. Your parallel comparison with Nuno is spot on also! Rock on🎸🎸🎸🎸
Great as always. Keith Douglas from Tora Tora would be a good guitarist to look into. Another underrated band and guitar player with some great grooves.
Much appreciate you sharing ronnie le tekro with us. Not much on him, maybe cause his style is complicated to capture just by ear, again, Thanks David!
Ronnie is still running TNT today and they are still releasing albums and touring in Europe and Japan. Check ‘em out on Spotify etc. He’s heavily influenced by Brian May, Van Halen & George Harrison.
I first heard Ronnie around '86 or so when I was still a fairly fresh player with barely a year under my belt. I thought TNT were terrific and was surprised they didn't hit in the States like they did in Europe. Ronnie is like this perfect hybrid of an American, or L.A. kind of player and a every European player. There's just something different about his approach and I love it.
That's interesting that you mention Nuno and Ronni - they were both influenced by Brian May (Queen). That's the common denominator ! Your channel is excellent by the way. Keep up the good work !
True, both Nuno and Ronnie use Queen like harmonies on some tunes and if you listen closely you will notice that Nuno sounds very similar to Ronnie but a bit on the dry side.
@@jeddak They both used that midrange, cocked-wah type sound. Schenker used the wah but I'm not sure what Ronni used to achieve it. So many guitarists were influenced by Schenker !
Dave.. Love your channel and happy to see it is growing so quickly... So here is my Le Tekro story. Long ago I heard Le Tekro & lost my mind.. Around that time I stumbled on to a 1/4 stepper guitar made by Bernie Hamburger Hamburguitar.. was built for a local guitar player Dana.. Can't remember his last name. This was metro Detroit area in the mid to late 80's.. The guitar stepped up in quarter tones vs. half steps and was challenging to get your head and fingers around. The same luthier that made Ronni's 1/4 stepper.. There was some issue with him being a Kramer artist @ the time and the head stock was covered up or branded Kramer.. Don't remember... Long story long, I ended up needing the sell the this guitar for bills or something.. 30+ years ago.. It is really my only gear sell regret. I think I have a photo of this guitar somewhere. If anyone know anything more about this (these guitars) I would love to hear about it....
You have become my favourite UA-cam channel. I think your voice is so cool, kind of a mix between Mr rogers and vin scully. And I mean that as a compliment. Also you’re a fucking wicked player and teacher so thank you for being alive and sharing your gift.
Unique Style, & doesent care to be a technical good guitar player, he just played what sounded cool.. he also godt the best tone i have ever heard from a live band (seen tnt & him solo many times here in norway) plays really loud & when he plays the muted parts it feels like a hammer in the chest🔥
@Fretboard Burner Yngwie became a (guitarist) household name after his first solo instrumental album Rising Force. Le Tekro was already getting attention from many guitar magazines and had a hit song, on MTV.
I definitely hear some similarities to Nuno’s playing in those licks. The neighbor tone lick reminds me of some of the passages in Extreme’s “play with me”.
The lick you are talking about at the 5 minute mark sounds like a snippet of Norwegian folk music. Ronni does that A LOT. Oh, and PS ... about his style ... I suspect he grew up listening to Richie Blackmore.
Maybe a bit dated in the overall sound but LeTekro is definitely unique. Pretty awesome that you reviewed him. He had a custom "Quarterstepper" guitar that he played occasionally as well.
I remember copying his sound back in the days with a blocked auto filter pedal before distortion, that would bring that extra high medium and extra attacky sound.
I think Ronnie is technical but nothing extraordinary like Nuno, but what is really impressive is that he has a very distinctive/unique sounds and his playing is Uber Expressive, very unpredictable and out of the norm, plus he is extremely energetic and aggressive..and his rhythms are incredibly full and impactful and what a sound!!! ... overall he is extraordinary and unique
I don’t know why but I tend to laugh out loud when I see someone play something totally awesome on guitar like you did on this. I do not mean that as disrespect it is a good thing! I think it is just because it blows my mind when people play cool shit like this and my reaction is to smile and laugh. Especially when it is something from a record and there it is in real life. I get a lot of joy from watching and listening to this. Thank you
Pretty crazy. I was watching a lot of your videos yesterday. I thought out loud I wonder if he has done or will do any Ronni Le Tekro licks or chord play. 10 hours later....
Fantastic. I've never heard of him!!! You should really, really check out Whitecross and Rex Carroll... first 3 (Whitecross, the Hammer and Nail and A Triumphant Return). Worth a look.. Or Ian Chriton from Saga
I would watch this even if I didn't play guitar. Thanks Dave!!
He was always one of my favorites! Terribly overlooked...
Very good sir. I love Ronnie's playin' since 1983 and you play it with such ease. Nice job.
Could you please, please cover Pat Thrall ( Automatic Man, Pat Travers, Hughes and Thralll ) specially on the Hughes and Thrall period. Did I said please? Well I say it again, Pleease.
His machine gun picking solo stuff is incredible. "Knights of the New Thunder" is a magical release.
Yes! Finally someone making guitar videos on Father Ronni.
David, great video of one of my favorite guitarists!!! Thank you!!!
Ronnie is definitely a badass!! I remember blasting SAPPHIRE as loud and as often as I could back in '87!! If I heard it, everyone around me did too!!
Ronni is the man! Always an interesting soloist and note choices, great rhythm playing too.
Love it, Ronnies of my top two favorite guitarists of all time❤️🎸

wow I never heard of this guy glad you made this video. thanks very cool
Love tekro one of the most underrated guitarists of the 80$
I just like that you not only know who Le Terkel is, you actually broke some of his playing down. Big thank you.

Threw the TV out of the window. Who needs it if you have a guitar and Davids lessons!? And some time to practise of course... thumbs up!!
Very tasteful and melodic player. Ronni would always throw out those ear candy licks interspersed with neoclassical, tremolo picking and other really cool techniques. Thanks for showcasing Ronni's playing.
I totally agree with you. Ronni Le Tekro is very exciting guitarist! Greetings from Germany ;)
Tonight I’m Falling is a real favourite of mine. Thank you so much for this lesson
Not only is Ronnie an amazing musician, he’s hillariously funny.
2 minutes in and you bring up Nuno! The first time I heard Extreme I though Nuno sounded like a cross between EVH and Ronni! :) BTW - you kick ass, brother!
outstanding video. thank you!
Your lessons and analyses of Le Tekro and other masters is masterful in itself. You really have done your homework. Great job.
I didn't know about Ronni . I will focus about his albums . Tks for this great VDO . Bonus is so melodic
Thanks for covering this unsung great!
Great lesson , you made me go listen some TNT stuff.
Thanks mate
You're not only a great player, but a great instructor and a pleasure to watch! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND YOUR VIDZ!

Brought back memories

Great! Underrated guitarist for sure.
Always great lessons!
Great stuff, really! Thanks Maestro!
Cool lesson...I saw TNT with Loudness in 1987 at the Bayfront Center in St Petersburg Fl...cool show
Doreen Livers lol Ronnie and Akria that is like guitar overload that is too much for one person lol
That was splendid, thx. Next: Dann Huff!
Your point about Ronnie's being classically influenced without sounding like Yngwie is a good one. He really seemed to come from out of nowhere with his own vocabulary, tone and bag of tricks and very little of what he plays sounds lifted from guitarists who came before him.
Agree but I bet was a Tommy Bolin fan!
Great analysis in these videos. Great job!

Next step: Trevor Rabin! :-)
The Caught Between the Tigers solo gave George Lynch night sweats.
That's because he's one of the greatest guitarists of ALL TIME.
I saw TNT with Stryper and Loudness at Starwood Amphitheater in Nashville in '87 and he did the Wizard thing in his Solo and Blew me away. It was so Cool !!!
Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
I like your tone. There’s nothing like a hot rodded strat. An enhanced strat is the ultimate rock n roll machine, nothing can touch it.
Totally Rad dude🤘 knight of a new thunder, tell no tales and intuition were staples of my youth...your lessons are like a time machine really taking me back to some good times ! Keep up the good work
Ronni always reminded me of Vito Bratta with all the melodic play and also the guitar layering. Awesome guitarist! Thanks for the 2 vids on TNT :)
Nice. I always loved that checkered strat.
Hey buddy, you gotta do Dave Meniketti next. This guy is very underrated very tasteful shred monster of the 80's.
svtrader Totally agree. He seemed to have an endless supply of riffs and tasty fills to back them up. 👍🏻👍🏻
Dont forget dann huff 🤘
joseph weiss monster player
Totally agree Meniketti was an amazing player. Saw Y&T several times and he never disappointed live !
One of my favorites from back in the day

Actually, Ronni's main influence is Terje Rypdal. Which is another overlooked fusion guitar monster from Norway.
I was lucky enough to see TNT back in 89-90 at a small bar here in California, I was probably 5 feet from Ronnie he was insanely good.
Cool I saw them at the Hollywood Palace
You sir are hilarious but also a great teacher! Thanks for the great content.
You should cover early Firewind licks sometime first or second album era
I always check to see if you changed the poster on the left there. Moving Pictures today. Excellent.
Great video. If you think of it ( maybe you already have ) Nuno and Ronnie have a very similar Brian Mayesque kind of sound.
