    Maurice...
Just starting to try using your tool. Sure would be nice if there were audio in this vid explaining what you're doing, the adjustments you're making and why those adjustments are being made/necessary. It's just a bit difficult to fully understand what's going on here just by following the mouse movements.

      Hi,
you can find a video tutorial with audio of my tools here
      ua-cam.com/video/COUdDZAhbHc/v-deo.html
In the video the user is copying all demo files, when in fact you only need kicad-StepUp-tools.FCMacro file.
There is also a UM inside the demo folder kicadStepUp-starter-Guide.pdf which gives you a lot of info.
A good resource is also the KiCad forum (search for STEP inside the forum)
      here some useful links
      forum.kicad.info/t/kicad-stepup-new-exporter-for-3d-mcad-feedbacks-are-welcome/1048
      forum.kicad.info/t/how-to-interactive-align-3d-model-to-pcbnew-footprint-new-tool-for-kicad-in-altium-style/1711
over there you can find also a nice community for support :)

When making 3D models for submission to the GitHub KiCad packages3d repo, are there licensing issues with downloading manufacturer models like that?

I first used your script to assemble a board in FreeCAD, but parts weren't oriented right. This is the missing link I guess! Thank you for the effort. Do you maybee know if KiCAD will implement your solutions into their program? This would be great!

      Hi,
I replied at the kicad forum here

In Freecad when I download a model from e.g. 3dcontentcentral, it shows full hierarchy of the model, not "one" part. How do I select the whole model so I can rotate/translate etc? (Your tutorial just shows one item in the hierarchy)

you can achieve a single object in FC using:
      1) Part Make Coumpound
      or
      2) Part Boolean Union
This is already documented in the FC-script-generator-starter-Guide.pdf

    Probably a stupid question, don't know much about FreeCAD;
in the workflow your first step is:
    "- load the Macro"
How do you do that? I placed IdfImporter folder in C:\Program Files\FreeCAD\Mod, but I can't see the StepUp 3D tool icon.

Hi, to have the macro in your toolbar you need to follow the instructions here:
      www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Customize_ToolsBar
(it is described in kicad StepUp starter guide pg.8)
PS I'm updating the tools and shortly it will be possible to load the board directly from FC :)

No audio? It would make the video 100x better if you explained what you were doing and why you were doing it.

Hi, I'm not a native English speaker, so I didn't add any audio.
Anyway the video explains itself quite well.
I will add some subtitles though.

That is understandable. Your tool works great. Thank you so very much for making it. I found the other video made by "eabpg" in the comments below, and that helped me figure out what I was supposed to do. Maybe just add a link to his video in the description of this video above. Thanks again!
