@@overcafenated I hope this doesn’t effect the romance between Link and Zelda if your theory is true. Perhap a Zelda from the Distant past May of been with Ganondorf before being turned evil by the malice.

@@overcafenated They, in fact, do look like Zelda and Link. The theory surrounds the misinterpretation of Links eye or skin color, which for some resembles more Ganon. Some even brought in the fact, that Link's face looks more boar shaped, which is the monstrous form of Ganon.
However, all those interpretations are quickly discarded with the following two observations from the same mural:
1. Zelda also has the same boar shaped head as Link, but you wouldn't propose that Zelda is Ganon too then.
2. Link has a YELLOW hand holding the mastersword. This instantly disproves any skin color argument, as well as any reference to characters, as nearly no character in the Zelda series has yellow hands or skin.
People interpret so much more into the mural, they don't see or acknowledge the obvious selectiveness of their arguments. The mural just shows Zelda and Link fighting Calamity Ganon. Nothing more, nothing less.
Man, imagine if one reincarnation, Ganondorf got sick of playing his role and just… kinda decided not to. Who would take his place? Would Ganondorf still possess the Triforce of power, or would it be taken by someone else?
Well he is Demise's reincarnation so there is a possibility that he will break free of the OG Demon King's influence, and redeemed himself by joining Link & Zelda's side to break the endless cycle Demise placed on them since Skyward Sword.

@@SairinEarthsea from what I understand, Ganon is Ganondorf just shape changed into a more physically dangerous form which he stays in in the hero lost timeline which is the time line that if I recall correctly he had the full triforce(i think).
also bonus fun fact, unlike zelda and link who do reincarnate(or close enough) Ganondorf/Ganon is a reincarnation of Demise but are all the same guy(ok I think one or two were fakes but not relevant) the only difference being timeline stuff. so yes from the earliest he appears in the timeline(ocarina of time I believe) all the way to the end (pretty sure tears at this point) it has been the same gorudo(how long do these guys live!?)
I don't know if he has the choice. That, by playing his role, he is the sort of person that would relish that position. But that also assumes a very deterministic situation - that any incarnations of Ganon cannot change as a person. So it's definitely an interesting question.
I think if Ganondorf tried to break free of Demise's curse the Triforce of Power would remain, It is after all a relic of one of the three goddesses that shaped Hyrule, it must have sensed something in Ganondorf to become a part of him.
I never thought of it this way, Ganon being cursed or corrupted after going to fight the calamity as the chosen hero, that’s crazyyy

This actually reminds me of a scary bit of lore with the triforce. All the pieces are equally strong in overall potential. That said the users of each part are almost never born all together. Whoever is the oldest gets the benefit of prep time. The reason link is always the “hero” is because courage tends not to lead to a long life. The hero is willing to sacrifice because they need to have martial traditions passed down to be effective over time.
Wisdom comes front loaded with bother knowledge and clarity of thought. A young person awakening to wisdom will know what to do but lack the strength and will to do it.
Power is just that. Raw magical might without an outlet. A young user of power is as much a danger to themselves as their enemies.
Thus it is courage that has to go out half trained and under prepared to do what they can to keep everything working.
So what then happens when the boundless drive to venture into the unknown and a lack of doubt in ones self do in a time of true peace without a threat? Courage without the guiding hand of wisdom is reckless bravado.

Can this just be canon, please? Ganondorf is such a complicated character, I absolutely adore him. Yes, he's made to be the 'villain' of the games, but here's the thing: Ganondorf is under a CURSE. And not just him, but Link and Zelda, too. They are forced into an eternal loop of death and rebirth to fight against each other. Ganondorf is forced into the role of the villain with no way to change his fate. He has done terrible things, yes, but his people are desert-dwellers. What's in a desert? Next to absolutely nothing for a person to survive, let alone a whole population of people who have to share resources with each other, which are scarce enough. Thievery was their only choice after being refused aid in the past.
I like to believe that Ganondorf approached the King of Hyrule in peace at first, but because of Demise's curse, his desire for a better life for his people was twisted, and after being rebuffed, it forced Ganondorf's hand, and he had to become the villain we see in the games. If Ganondorf could TRULY have a choice, I don't think he would be the villain we see him as. I would really like to see a game with Ganondorf where we help him break the cycle between him, Link and Zelda. He could be more of an anti-hero maybe, rather than a villain.
An anti-hero role wouldn't be a bad idea but I rather keep Link X Zelda's relationship alive since the pair have been through alot since the Calamity struck Hyrule 100 years prior to Breath of the Wild.
If you really want a good story I recommend A Heroes Purpose by MajorLink, it tackles deep hidden subjects in the Zelda universe including the trios infinite reincarnation

The problem with the idea of this Ganondorf starting as good and being refused aid, is that he wasn't refused aid. The first King of Hyrule reached out to him multiple times. But Ganondorf was filled with pride and evil already.
@@strikerzac The counter to your "problem" is simply that the curse of demise is attached to the triforce of power, its corruption of which allowed for the continuous loop of reincarnation. Then all of the kings attempts to reach out just become part of a timeline where ganondorf was corrupted by demise(ganon) faster than others.
And then he did. And nothing happend.

In a parallel universe this is actually canon. In that world the Legend of Zelda is about a charming King of Thieves and his playful interaction with the princess of a rival kingdom.
I’m not into Zelda x Ganon because I’m more a Zelink shipper. But it is nice to humanized the Gerudo King before he became evil.
This is one of the older Zeldas this ain’t the same Zelda from BOTW

this is actually Sonia, aka the very first queen of hyrule and one of Zelda's ancestors. so tbh it has practically no effect on zelda's ship (a ship doesn't mean they live a happy perfect life. Soniadorf can exist even tho ganon gets killed)

I know the game is out already, and people have been making these type of comics for months now. But I unironically would love a good-guy Ganondorf for once. Is that too much to ask?
Yes it is, because it simply cannot happen. GANON is the reincarnation of Demise and part of his curse. Ganon cannot be good, link cannot be evil. At best they can be both aware of the cycle they're in, but ganon whole personality is shared with Demises list for violence and power, starting at his very birth.
@@TheCvlt Ok, but two things they could do is EITHER, have a Gerudo Male be born who just happens to be named Ganondorf, but isn't the reincarnation of Demise, and there's other dude out there who is. OR, have Ganondorf be so tired of this that he expels Demise out of himself with some magic stuff or out of sheer will, and Ganon becomes his own entity separate from Demise, and Demise as a spirit is the bad guy.

If you think about it, Demise’s curse also affects Link and Zelda for all eternity. If there were a final installment to the franchise, like the end of all Legend of Zelda games, I would like to see this happen.

Himbo Ganon is something I never knew I needed in my life. He would mesh so well with BOTW/TOTK's residents Weirdo Nerd Zelda and Crazy Cryptid Femboy Link. Imagine Zelda casually talking his ear off about her research or Link cooking all kinds of cool dishes for him to eat. It's so adorable to imagine.
I imagine that Himbo Ganondarf would be the oldest and big brother figure for the two. He’d likely get up to all sorts of mischief and drag the two along for the ride. He’d be this playful goof with Nerd Zelda as she geeks out over things, meanwhile he’d be Links only real competition in swords play and the sort. He’d likely be the more talkative of the two.
I could see such a Ganondarf being the first to try and fight off the energies of the Calamity only for it to latch on to him and forcefully take him as an unwilling host. In the end Zelda and Link would be forced into a position where they have no choice, but to strike down their friend.
I honestly would love to see a Ganon fight his destiny of being the reincarnation of Demise. Animes and Manwhas have made a very popular trope where a character is reincarnated as the villain of a game or reliving their past life all over again. It would be interesting to see an incarnation of Ganon being absolutely sick of being Denise’s puppet, and wants to be a good guy. Or we can go the funny route and Link accidentally gets reincarnated as Gannon and wants to avoid all the death flags including Princess Zelda

Ganondorf is no longer the king of the demons, he’s the king of Rizz.
I still think there's a story parallel to this sort of thing that needs to be told in Legend of Zelda. Demise is a monster that destroyed his own world, he took all the blessings of his gods and then killed them just because he could, before ripping a hole into Zelda's to try and do it there as well. Ganondorf is his avatar, but like Zelda, he is also still his own person, in the same way that she's not just Hylia. I really want to see a game similar to Twilight Princess or Breath of The Wild, where Ganondorf plays the role of Link's fairy partner for the game, and he DOESN'T want to be the demon king.
That kind of story as a lot of interesting beats it could explore, like whether it's truly possible to fight fate, what past plot points and McGuffins would need to be assembled to make that happen (Fierce Deity Mask? The actual Triforce? A Wind Fish, alive or dead?), and why the gods of THIS world gave Ganondorf the Triforce of Power in the first place. Because that act is treated almost like it's a mistake on their part, something that was never supposed to happen. Or like it was somehow out of their control. But what if it wasn't?
Additionally, most of these what-ifs that fans do insinuate some sort of romance between Ganondorf and Zelda, but I honestly think a friendship between him and Link is more interesting. Especially since Nintendo has been arguing behind closed doors about making games where Link has a personality and voiced lines, instead of just being heroically mute. But the problem is, you can't have a good character in a vacuum, they need someone or something to communicate with to give them chances to shine. A Link that talks would need someone to talk TO, and a sort of ghost or projection of Ganondorf would be a very interesting conversation partner for Link. It would harken back to Twilight Princess, which most tend to agree had the best fairy partner: Midna. Like that relationship, Ganondorf knows basically everything that's happening, while Link knows nothing. And also like Midna, Ganondorf could very well start out manipulating Link towards his own ends, before gradually falling into actual friendship and camaraderie with him.
It also serves the natural beat of most Legend of Zelda games, which tend to have a part one and a part two. The first half of the game teaches you what you need to know, while the second half is the real test. The first half of this hypothetical game could end with Ganondorf's secret being revealed, which culminates in Link losing access to him. Then the second half is Link searching for a way to save his friend from becoming consumed once again by Demise.
If you ever wanted to give Link a speaking role in a game with his own personality and voice, I think partnering him up with Ganondorf would be a prime way to do it.
It would've been more interesting if BOTWTOK Ganadorf tried to become the hero instead when the Calamity first hit all those ages ago.
He would try to deny the role that he was predestined to become, but refused to go out without a fight.
I swear when you look into he origin and artwork when they recounted the Calamity, the hero almost looked like Ganon himself.

@@a.jthomas6132 but the princess in this comic it's not Zelda. It's a reference to the paiting of Botw (where there are the ancient princess and the ancient hero).There's a theory ongoing wich sees the hero with the red hair as Ganondorf and not a "past Link".
So it coud be canon, most unlikely, but who knows.
